Covid lockdown retrospective

Did not expect to see this out of LA.

Govt is, or should be, a service. And an ancillary one at that.

California has the largest number of Trump voters. They aren’t all hippies.

I do. If you’re sitting there in the same environment as your child, I’d find it hard to say you’re negligent. If the environment is a hazard, I’d find it easier to declare you incompetent(thus, a danger to both yourself and your child).

Ideally, sure. In practice, we know the State will be overly-intrusive.

I have recently been made aware of a case where the mother who has been homeless with a 10 year old child but had not been sending her child to school because they were never in one place long enough. As best I could tell she loved and cared for her child as best she was financially capable. In mid December she was arrested for child abuse and jailed on $10,000 bond, which for her might as well have been a million dollars. Her and her child were living in the same situation, but she was arrested.

Edit: corrected the date of arrest

I 100% do not agree with this. In no way, shape or form was her situation ideal but for the govt to break their family and arrest her is nuts.

Meanwhile, parents are convincing impressionable children they are the opposite gender, removing their penis and putting them on hormones with the full support of the govt. Or, govt run institutions such as schools are doing the convincing and telling the kids to lie and hide it from their parents.

And this dichotomy is a perfect representation of why govt is fucked and doesn’t belong in family matters.

Not to be confused with turning a blind eye to murder or rape or whatever. We don’t have to be ridiculous with strawman arguments.

That’s the point. Some parents literally have their kids living in shit. The kids sometimes eat the shit. Dog, cat and people shit.

There is always more to these stories. Is she an addict? Mentally challenged? There are services available (men have more difficulty finding shelters than women and kids). If the kid went to school, he would be in a safe environment and given a couple of meals a day. You mentioned she isn’t in one place long; how does she manage to move from one town to the next? My guess would be she was afraid to get help because she was afraid her child would get taken away, which shows she cares more about her feelings than her child’s welfare.

You don’t have the whole story.

I know many details about the person. You want all the details.

  • She is not an addict
  • Her child at 10 years old can not speak, or won’t
  • She has done nothing legally to get the birth father to help support his child
  • She might be mentally challenged, but she can communicate rationally. I would guess unemployable.
  • At the end of July she and her boy were evicted from where they lived. She moved to different hotels on the south side of the city along with stays in shelters downtown then back to hotels when her son’s SSI check was deposited. Then back to the shelter, and moving around again.
  • She was getting desperate in mid November and found a man on Craig’s List who lived out of the state. He came and picked her and her son up and took them back to his house.
  • On December 12th she was arrested and son was given to one of her family members.
  • As far as I know she still sits in jail.

Probably the best thing for the kid.

Yep. And, pretty much every time, the parent/s are mentally incompetent.

Not always.

Ok, Comrade.

Nah. If the kid doesn’t speak he’s very likely autistic, severely traumatized, or both and definitely in an unstable environment, unable to receive the help he needs.

Forget the mom. She can refuse meds, use drugs, and fuck strangers at will.

The kid needs help though.

The post above outlining the situation indicates drugs and strangers were not in the equation. I don’t see a path to the end in the data provided personally. Hell, people lived in grass huts for most of history as family units.

I’m going to refer to personal experience on this one. Women that bounce around hotels and live off of kids SS aren’t stable, and guys from craigslist don’t shack up with them unconditionally.

I definitely do. Once again, personal experience.

We don’t live in grass huts anymore, and we know a lot more about mental health now than when we did.

What would you call a man she found on Craig’s List, who came from out of state to take her and her son home with him, when she first met him personally when he drove up in his white pickup truck?

i cant read the whole story, but California gun laws do not allow for you to defend your property with a gun.

That means if someone kicks down your door in the middle of the night and starts stealing your shit, you are not legally allowed to shoot the intruder.
Unless you have a reasonable fear for your safety or that of your family.

I’m surprised to see this story as well.

I think people will just go along with it again like they did a few years ago.

Nothing will happen, no one will riot.
No one wants to be the first, but there’s a long line of people eagerly waiting to be the second.

I believe some people would snap and commit atrocities if the government declares another lockdown. They may be lone actors or they may be in groups, but I do not think lockdowns would be tolerated again.
