Covid in Australia

Yes, but NSW is a police state.
Its gotten to the point where a lot of people don’t give a fuck anymore.
How many people are actually going to pay, or even can pay these stupid fines, as they
can’t work anymore.
I’m changing my opinion on multiculturalism, I hope the muslims start rioting.

“And the public love it” Unfortunately there are a lot of dumb, brainwashed people out there. Media only shows opinions that agree with their agenda. They are actively pushing vaccine passports, and mandatory vaxxing.

Whoa! Jailed for at least 3 months for helping to organise an ‘unauthorised protest’ - dafuq:

Does the government get to vet and stop protests? That’s hilarious.

They do… People get arrested over social media posts if LEO’s believe it has anything to do with protests.

Protesting is illegal… Didn’t ya know?

Remind me, what country do you live in?

Capture

Even in pre Covid you needed a permit from the Police for a group protest. (unless you are Antifa or Extinction Rebellion)

Well half the country including our major Northern port is owned by China. Most of the politicians are in China’s pocket.

Quote from article:

“This is not about stopping free speech, this is about stopping the spread of the virus,” he said.

So curfew is in effect in Sydney 9pm-5am.

Unfuckingbelivable. It just keeps progressing.

80 % vaccination won’t end this. There will continue to be breakthrough cases and that will lead to further lockdown. Thats my prediction.

A country where 20000 police + 1500 ADF members are roaming Sydney’s streets… Where we have a curfew and where you can be imprisoned for breaking restrictions

That’s a picture of the tiannamen square protests. The police actually are assaulting protestors here, but no one is dying thankfully.

Those who organise protests or attend multiple time are ending up imprisoned… Hell, those who post about protests on social media are sometimes ending up arrested.

Looks like Victoria is going to tighten restrictions.

These are current metropolitan Melbourne restrictions. This is the level of restrictions Melbourne has been in for over 200 out of the past 400 days…

Unfortunately “metropolitan Melbourne” also covers semi rural Victoria. There are swathes of farmland covered within the government’s definition of “metropolitan Melbourne” that haven’t seen a single case in weeks or months…

77 cases in Vic today… Premier is talking of tightening restrictions again. We already have fucking martial law in place… The next step is pretty much shutting down takeaway, welding doors shut…

SO many people are out of work over this… There are long term, wide reaching ramifications past covid here.

We have 70+ percent of the elderly population fully vaccinated, around 55 percent of the population has taken at least one shot and around 1/3rd of Australians are fully vaccinated.

Diagnostic procedures, cancer screening services have been shut down. Elective procedures in PRIVATE hospitals are being shut down, psychiatric inpatient facilities are booked up for months and months on end. Rehabilitation clinics are also booked up or are shutting down despite many turning to drug abuse (and eventually addiction) to cope with all of this.

There are far reaching, long term complications associated with our extreme approach. Not to mention the lockdowns haven’t been working. With the alpha variant, covid zero took a concerted effort that entailed stripping away human rights for a few months… Even after that mass surveillance, tracking movements etc became the norm.

With the delta variant, zero is no longer possible.

These “snap lockdowns” are now “indefinate lockdowns”. The government has no plan B, only tough guy, autocratic politics catering towards a regressive zero case mentality that citizens here love “let’s stamp it out, eradicate it! We are all in this together; though I make a cool half mil and you’re all out of work! Lock up those who break the rules… Stay home and don’t die.”

The narrative many harbour over places like the US is

“The US? They didn’t even handle the pandemic. Bodies are dropping in the streets corpses are everywhere.” To note, there is a level of media censorship occuring here. There is no platform for alternate narratives over here.

People over here view the rest of the world as a dystopian hell hole. Our government has ‘saved us’ from an outcome consisting of open fields containing burning corpses, mass civil unrest etc. The truth is… Our society is the dystopian one

To top it off. the dumb motherfuckers in Sydney are going ahead with bushfire burn offs, today.
If it isn’t unpleasant enough already add a generous dose of widespread smoke to make breathing even more difficult.
The govt will play dumb. They hide behind a veneer of ignorance, yet they either don’t care about the effect, or actively try to put more pressure on the citizens.
Fuck the lot of them.

We even doxx people over shit like this.
On Reddit there are people saying those who breach restrictions like this, those who knowingly spread covid ought to be charged with attempted murder

I think spreading covid knowingly is a shitty thing to do … But imagine saying this to someone residing in virtually any other developed, secular, democratic country… They’d laugh you out of the room

We have more cancer deaths, more alcohol related deaths (FAR more when both combined) relative to covid deaths here daily. Not to say this would stay the same if we were to let it rip… Though opening up albeit with sustainable restrictions til we meet given quotas for vaccination probably wouldn’t be the end of the world.

Somehow a covid death (median age 86) is more important relative to virtually any other cause of death here.

I think the stress on the public service will be too high. Cases which result in severe disease in most other countries on our side of the globe have been increasing despite lockdowns because of low vaccination rates. There will be a time where the public service is overwhelmed from just testing and quarantining people.

What I think will happen is there will be a gradual relaxation of lockdown measures once the vaccination rate gets high enough and COVID passports will be introduced.

Nice setup you’ve got going. I suppose you can probably work out in the out-of-doors year-round in AUS, provided you’re properly masked, vaccinated, conducting approved business and fully disarmed with paperwork in-hand to prove it.

I’d be a little too concerned with the wildlife to work out like you do in Australia, but only because you won’t let me bring all of my guns with me when I want to vacation there.

Edit: My former mat space now a lifting space.

Various Australian politicians don’t care about stress on healthcare etc. They care about"zero" because it is politically advantageous for them to do so.

Mark McGowan has already commited to the narrative of maintaining zero cases past 80% lockdown. I believe Daniel Andrews will cater towards public safety in the face of “excessive cases” post 80%…

That is, unless such an approach falls out of favour… Which I doubt, as Australians at the moment are extremely obedient (even moreso than usual), absolutely terrified of covid and the outside world… They’re extremely tolerant of authoritarianism.

It’s a double pronged narrative. Covid zero had public support. We set up daily case briefings, hysterical narratives in the media… An agenda to create a population terrified of the outside world.

Politicians play with tough guy politics “tough on covid, stamp it out, I’m your saviour”

Population feels as if they’ve been liberated, rally around the flag effect occurs

It’s not just about healthcare, which is why I specifically wrote about testing and quarantines.

The fact that you have to mobilize the military may be seen as a further spiral into authoritarianism but it indicates a lack of manpower to me.

I live on a farm. It’s private property, unfortunately quite isolated so the 5km radius our government gives us doesn’t account for much. My driveway alone is almost 1km in diameter.

The wildlife can be a problem. Wear boots and the risk from snakes is dramatically reduced. Wild foxes, wasps, poisonous spiders and caterpillars etc can be an issue but they’re easy to avoid… Just don’t walk into spiderwebs, foxes will be more scared of you than you are of it. If you want one gone either apply for a gun license (not hard to get if circumstances are farm related), set animal traps or get good at bow hunting.

Tbh you get used to the animal risk if you live here. It’s something people freak out about because the thought of a big snake is scary. But in all honesty, the risk is exaggerated akin to how covid is exaggerated here. You can learn to live with it, the wildlife risk is primarily an issue within rural/semi rural areas (and on the beach).

Be careful, and chances are you’ll be okay.

No thanks. I won’t do it. You can keep your monstrous insects, flying foxes, prehistoric beasts and fist-fighting marsupials. In fact, don’t even come to the negotiating table unless you’re guaranteeing me a date with Michelle Jenneke.

I’ll take my chances with part-time dive bar bouncing and manufacturing management in a place called Maine, USA.

I really wanna fight one of them.

@unreal24278 do these fuckers bite?

You have to watch out for a disembowelling double leg kick.

I’m sure this is a joke but… as behyond beyond specified they’re dangerous

The kick… Hard

Hard enough to rupture internal organs.

However @twojarslave @dt79 I’ve been around kangaroos. You don’t have to go near them, they’re not particularly fond of you either.

If you’ve got a gun, the government prior to covid used to grant licensing for people to hunt and kill kangaroos. However getting a gun license has become impossible now unless you’re in a state with absolutely no restrictions whatsoever.

Last year they stopped issuing licenses all-together for a while… Because there were quite a few people applying for permits. There was no evidence indicative said applications were in any way related to the pandemic. There was talk of how mass civil unrest could ensue here akin to how it was occuring in the US. My narrative was “no… It’s farming season, this is going to fuck up crop season for the MANY farmers who rely on ammunition, firearms and the likes to keep prey out, keep livestock alive. You’re using this uptick in applications and blaming it on the pandemic when it likely has nothing to do with that. We went from a tiny number of gun license applications to 1.5x that tiny number and you’re no longer granting licenses because this is a nanny state revelling in its newfound powers”.

Granted they started issuing licenses again some six months later, but due to restrictions it isn’t actually possible to go through with getting a license.

Should also be noted gun stores are quickly shut down whenever restrictions are imposed as they’re considered less than essential businesses meanwhile liquor stores are totally essential… As are tobacco retailers.

You can’t attend a firearms safety course when they aren’t running. This is a prerequisite for having a license. I’m not actually opposed to mandating firearms safety courses for those who wish to own a gun; provided they don’t have millitary/LEO experience

Jesus… Covid has been used as an excuse to foot through SO many autocratic policy enactments here. Policy enactments that many premier’s are now incredibly unwilling to give up.

I’m going to take a nap now. After which I’ll link new quotes from interviews that made me laugh

Will also post a pic of my home gym when I’ve finished painting it/hanging everything up. Finished coating it with primer today.

Yeah, it was a joke. I did want to know if they bite, though. I wouldn’t even fuck with a macaque monkey because of their fucking fangs. Those fuckers know how to go straight for the jugular.

Joey was pretty chill.

I’m more afraid of running into the dude from Wolf Creek lol.

“That’s not a knife. THIS is a knife.” LMAO.

This guy was brilliant. Why haven’t we seen him in bigger budget movies lol?
