Covid in Australia

It might be a while, with the way things are.

You got mad kung fu skills right? Might be better to call it off.

You have guns!

Nope they all got handed in when my dad decided to stop shooting. Even before the Port Arthur buyback, so he got $0. I was only interested in rooting women at the time, lost all interest in guns.

Come over to my end and we’ll have a slingshot fight.

:joy:

Child getting pepper sprayed after freaking out over the idea of getting placed into a police vehicle by a small platoon of polics for not wearing a mask. Damn:

I would need too. Only kids can use slingshots legally in my state. I don’t know which idiots make these laws. Hell, kids get up to the most trouble of anyone with a slingshot. No adult is going to shoot something he shouldn’t, due to having to pay to fix broken windows, or get a criminal record for damaging someone’s property.

That one happened a month or two ago, when things weren’t as crazy as they are now.
Excessive force. More about ā€œquestioning their authoriteeā€. . Not a good look for the police. under any circumstance.

It’s odd… swords, gel blasters, sling shots, throwing knives and flick knives etc are supposed too be illegal… But you can buy them on eBay… shipped domestically, sometimes from the state they’re illegal in

To note, I’ve never purchased any of these items. Just looked it up

Swords are only prohibited in Vic. Qld, and NT are the freest for weapons ownership .I wouldn’t have thought throwing knives were illegal to own, in any state, as any knife can technically thrown. I know you need permits if importing them from outside Australia. Why throw away a perfectly good knife anyway. Unless you are an expert and lucky at the same time you probably won’t hit your target with the pointy end. A pretty shitty weapon to entrust your safety with.
I read in the local paper a year or two ago, about a lady who bought some gel blasters online(not sure whether it was interstate or overseas) for her kids. The Police did a raid, and arrested her, for her heinous crime. We have some of the dumbest of fuck legislators in our country. So bored that they have make up laws about taking toys away from kids. They believe any shit they see in a Hollywood movie and then have to ban it over here.

God forbid someone takes a glorified nerf gun and has a fun little paintball shootout with gel ammo in their back yard!

Think of the CHILDREN!!!

Some gel blasters are/were fairly realistic looking, why not just opt for a design overhaul if that’s the worry?

Muzzleloading rifles, shotguns and pistols (and in QLD cap and ball revolvers) are free of regulation. Gel blasters are the real danger!

I’m not an advocate for Aus level gun restrictions. I think Northern Ireland, Israel, Greenland, a few nordic countries etc have a good ā€œmiddle groundā€

Did you see the guy that took his Nerf gun to a police station to get it registered, because it was able to shoot gel balls? SA I believe, as they just changed.the laws this year. It made the news in America. It made us look like a bunch of dingoes dogshit.

That nerf gun could’ve been used to irritate innocent passers by. Are you not thinking of the HUGE ramifications shooting a gel ball at say 150fps could have? You could… you could… Well think of the CHILDREN

I’m actually thinking December

Scott Morrison will open the borders

ā€œI’m your saviour, see… I’ve let you see your families on Christmas… Not mentioning I shut the borders two years agoā€

Then a few months later they’ll probably shut again.

This is the way governments work.

… Great country

@twojarslave gym pic from last night. Not quite ready for use. Concrete needs to dry. Need to hang up heavy bag, build deadlift platform (though there are areas in both sides of the crudely conceived/built contraption where one can place an Olympic barbel for doing squats, there’s a bench press area (gotta move out my bench and attach it) and a plate for elevating a barbell to load plates on for deadlifts, rack pulls or RDL’s.

The barbell in the pic has 130kg weight on it not including the weight of the barbell, but I have 180kg in plates. I do deadlifts on the grass, it fucks up the grass and it’s quite difficult relative to the gym. With each rep the barbell digs further and further into the ground, so I end up doing deadlifts at a huge deficit… Seriously like a 4-6 inch deficit towards the end of a voluminous set. The barbell in that pic was being used for RDL’s as opposed to proper deadlifts.

I have two Olympic barbells. A shorter one that I’ll hang at the bench press section and a longer one I’ll use for squats and deadlifts.

I also have non Olympic barbells, and adjustable dumbbells, around 120kg of non Olympic plated but the barbells can only take around 110kg prior to me being unable to add on any more weight because it simply doesn’t fit… Hence why I’ve invested in Olympic barbells and bumper plates.

I’ll need to buy more plates eventually, but won’t do so until I can hit 405x10 on deadlifts, which ought to take at least 5 months relative to where I am now. Can do 405 for around 6 if wearing a belt, wearing straps.

Will be more focused on getting my squat up, my knee is fucked… But it’s been in pain for a long time now so I try my best to ignore it.

As I’ve been depressed I’ve found it difficult to get out and exercise, but I’m doing as much as I possibly can.

Over time I’ll be adding more and more fancy contraptions!

The support structures/beems and jacks can and will be removed when the concrete has completely dried. The poles holding up this contraption are all around a foot and a half deep into the ground

We had 55 cases today, the majority in the community. Looks like we will be in total lockdown for at least 2-3 more months… Fucking insanity. I’ve put forward the first steps to leaving the country early next year. I’ve decided it’s time to get out, things aren’t going to go back to normal here… And we are stuck with covid zero coupled with heinously idiotic ā€œtough guy politicsā€ over covid-19… Personifying the virus and adhering our war on drugs/tough on crime mentality and all.

It’s not about public health when you’re shutting down breast cancer screenings/other cancer imaging procedures, when you’ve shut off elective/diagnostic procedures in private hospitals as well as public hospitals. When suicidal patients at psych wards that are now booked out months and months in advance can’t even socialise with other patients when admitted, when martial law is imposed over 20 cases (when it was imposed).

I’ve been called a nutter, a conspiracy theorist, someone who desires death… I’m none of those things… I do, however want to stay alive. Last year I almost didn’t make it following around 130 days of isolation coupled with numerous incredibly unfortunate events… It was all too much, going weeks at a time without muttering a word to anyone while also too afraid to leave home less I cop a huge fine I can’t pay (perhaps leading to jail time)… Or actually risking jail time…

I was institutionalized last year following the isolation, I have scars that will never fade, scars that now dictate what I can and can’t wear in public less I wish to avoid stares and people badgering me about them. I will NEVER forgive our government over this and I never want to live in a country where the population cheers on and accepts this level of authoritarian over reach in the name of public safety… Yet very few question the notion of a government shutting down parliament 19 months into a pandemic and tabling legislature to make the state of disaster state (that grands near unlimited executive powers, police powers) permanent. I’ve alluded to what happened to me last year, but I’ve never explicitly detailed what happened…

If you think the few dozen cases of covid daily is a risk to the point you can no longer hold democratic proceedings when you foot through autocratic policy, you can meet up online… But no, parliament is cancelled… Think about why the government would do something like that…

My state has a curfew… Playgrounds are closed, kids can’t go outside for more than 1-2 hours per day, it can’t be with more than one other person… And they can’t go to parks or playgrounds. I’ve been called delusional for insinuating this is similar to martial law… Or is outright martial law. Australians appear think this is normal… An acceptable use of powers over the fifty something cases/no deaths seen in our state today…

police are not using any discretion. People are copping 5k fines for taking their mask off a few metres before they enter their homes etc.

Rebel News recently reported on a guy in public housing who was fined 2k for… Get this… Filming the police unlawfully arresting someone.

Here’s the part I don’t buy (showcased in the video I’m referencing) apparently this guy confronts Fiona pattern (left wing yet libertarian political figure), the political candidate that represents his suburb. He starts talking to her about the police here… Then the footage goes black but the audio stays on… Hence my scepticism the footage wasn’t doctored to adhere to a certain narrative… Why did the footage just go black?

During the interview… He’s talking to Ms Patten about his fine, the police powers and the over reach… Patten actually seems to be in agreement with this guy ā€œI know they’re doing this regularly, they shouldn’t beā€. But when asked ā€œwhy did you vote in support of the Omnibus bill tabled by andrews, a bill that was passed with bipartisan supportā€ she dodges the question… Doesn’t answer it. I highly doubt she expected the outcome to amount to this level of democratic erosion.

The Omnibus bill was a covid-19 bill that was passed in the name of ā€œpublic safetyā€ā€¦ The bill encompassed sweeping, near unlimited powers granted to politicians and police alike during a state of disaster… A state that is set to become permenant via new legislature tabled that will almost certainly pass.

The bill intitially included included the ability to detain people indefinately who the authorities merely suspected were at risk of breaking restrictions and/or promoting protests/narratives against covid zero. There actually was public outcry over this, thus this tiny portion of the bill was scrapped and it passed through.

Anyhow, Ms Patten adknowledges the shocking abuse of police powers here has been problematic and offers to help get rid of the guys fine… But dodges the question over ā€œwhy did you vote for a bill that enabled the Andrews government to turn Aus into a police stateā€. I feel that question may be a bit unfair, as NSW has also turned into a police state (and was even more of a nanny stage than Vic prior to all of this). All states have had lockdowns, all states have serious curbs on civil liberties… All states have covid 19 restrictions imposed that strip away the right to travel domestically (interstate) let alone overseas. Now Australians overseas with dual citizenships who come back here and at risk of being stuck in the country… There is around 30,000 Aussies overseas who have been stranded overseas for nearly two years now

But then Ms Patten (if the footage is real) offers to help represent this guy over his fines… He thanks her, they part ways… Apparently he’s tried to contact the premier multiple times since, to no avail… No help for this man. If this is TRUE and the footage isn’t doctored to push a narrative… That’s disgusting. The reason party was one of the few parties I liked… We will see if this is true/false, or taken out of context in the coming weeks.

This is the only party in interested in within Aus

They’ve go their issues, a little bit too economically right for me (and I generally swing conservative on economic policy), terrible for climate action and they’re too libertarian for my taste… Still, they align with many of my harboured beliefs, they seem to care about human rights/civil liberties too! A rarity for Australian political parties.

If the new bill tabled by the liberals passes (right wing mainstream party here), then minor parties like the liberal democrats may be disqualified from running within state and federal elections. An unprecedented, extremely autocratic move aimed a disqualifying any and all opposition aside from labour, nationals etc.

Both liberal and labour cater towards autocratic, excess red tape regulatory standards… God forbid a party that caters towards civil liberties, small businesses, ending nanny state legislature etc gains popularity!

The bill was tabled after more and more politicians left liberal/labour to defect to the liberal democrats. I’ve heard ā€œX party isn’t what it used to be, they don’t care about people anymore! Australia is a shell of its former self… What the hell happened! I’m deflecting to LDP to uphold the values I hold dear to my heartā€

I’m sure many just care about money, LDP party is VERY good for businesses. LDP policy gives businesses freedom of choice, less stringent regulatory standards etc.

LDP has its problems, I won’t lie… But out of all the parties I know in Aus, this is the best one imo for upholding human rights!

They’d support a human rights charter being developed for Aus (that we currently don’t have) as well as federal ICAC (federal anti corruption body) that we also don’t have. Governments have been very reluctant and Squamish over developing either… Shocker!

Stay strong bud you will be alright.
Commish is a cunt! 6 more weeks, harsher lockdown. Masks must now be worn all times in public(except exercise), all over NSW. Increased police powers, no discretion.

More shit. Man gets fine even though wearing a mask. - YouTube

The removing mask fine was supposed to relate to alcoholic beverages only.

And they’re inside a car car…

At least it’s only 500$, penalties for preaching mask mandates in NSW (now I believe) are upwards of five grand

There was a story about a woman in WA who took her terminally ill father to the beach during what must have been a lockdown. She was caught and sentenced to jail

She appealed the decision and won, instead she’s getting a HUGE fine.

NSW just imposed a curfew in Sydney… Why? There’s literally no evidence to suggest they work… Gladys must be SO desperate. The political pressure must be immense.

Whilst 600 cases isn’t a lot, to a terrified populace constantly bombarded with media hysteria it is. The narrative is ā€œbodies are dropping in the streetsā€.

The political pressure has gotten to her. From ā€œvaccinated people will have freedom, we need to start opening up at the end of Augustā€ to ā€œlockdown extended another month, curfews, more millitary patrols, more police patrolling… Already at 18000 police, 1000 soldiers… Unlimited police powers, police officers who do the wrong thing won’t be held accountableā€.

It’s the sheer level of retardation associated with tough guy politics like this that never ceases to amaze me. It doesn’t work? Double down… Still doesn’t work? Harsher penalties…

And the public love it.
