Cortisol And Fat

Has anyone tried any of the suppliments that reduce cortisol levels and in turn reduce stress and the most important… Fat!
Do they work?

havent tried them, but i will point out the one problem with the thesis that cortisol is influential in fat deposition. I read what i think is the major study that lead to all the hubub about cortisol and fat in psychosomatic medicine magazine. It was interesting, but no causal relationship was determined. the companies that sell these supps make the fatal error of assuming a causal relationship. Just because someone that is fat also has high cortisol does not mean that the cortisol caused the fat. the fat could have caused the cortisol. or, they could be completely unrelated. i bet all the ppl who were fat and had high cortisol levels also had legs- but that does mean a darn thing.
that is my major problem with the underlying ideology. There is also the fact that I havent seen any research that the compounds in these supps actually reduce cortisol. I remember a few years back when reducing cortisol was the big idea w/ some supp companies- but as far as i know they were never able to come up w/ anything worth while. Twinlab had NAC fuel- n-acytel cystein- but if i remember correctly the mega-dosing necessary made it impossible to utilize without taking out a loan.

Thanks “da man”

So I guess your saying it isnt worth it then as the source of the Cortisol isn’t known.

I went over this in a previous column:
