Ugh on the repair work but at least it was repairable.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Edit:
…, but I don’t have anything else sporty to show and no one wants to see my hairy ass in any sort of flex pose.[/quote]
You’ve got that right!
Sorry/glad to hear your gonna get your ticker fixed. As someone else mentioned at least its a problem that can be fixed, said by the innocent bystander who isn’t going under the knife.
All the best for a speedy recovery.

My poor innocent eyes after reading that! Shocking. But no seriously what else is one going to do with a term like snatch?
Agree with everyone, nice pic.
It’s cute that we are all a little broken, struggling through, or it would be cute if it wasn’t so frustrating.
Lots going on here!
Love the new avi!
Take care of yourself and don’t rush your recovery.
Thanks everyone!
2 more sleeps. I’ll see if they let me bring my phone in and leave me awake, then I can take pictures and post while it is going on! I have a feeling I know the answer already, but you have to ask, right?
Nice Avi. Just tell them you’re filming a documentary and you need the footage.
I chickened out on the video. Do have a picture of the machine that says “bing” on my phone. I’ll grab that later.
They went in through the wrist, not the groin, so all that shaving for nothing.
Waiting to hear back from the cardiologist for details, but 1 day of not using my right hand at all, then a week off from lifting, as apparently they are worried I’ll reopen the artery and make a mess if I start yanking on weights before it is all the way resealed.
They have CT scans scheduled for Monday.
Did they at least give you a t-shirt? Damn modern technology. Fewer “cool” scars. Gone are the days the chest looks like a car bonnet.
The t-shirt will say “I had laproscopy cardiology surgery and all I got was this lousy shirt and a scar smaller than my shaving cuts”
Get well quickly. Theoretically the extra blood flow will aid in recovery, right?
Ah, the “bing” machine a la Monty Python
I have cooking knife wounds worse than your heart surgery cut…medical technology is just miraculous!
Heal well, heal soon, but most certainly allow yourself to heal completely.
Just got caught up. So now when we get accused of juicing it means electricity? Hope all went well with the surgery and a quick recovery.
So, I’m bored and back at work. CT scan was negative, but it was of my head so not surprising…
My arm hurts on the inside. I can feel right where the tube stretched out the artery all the way to the shoulder. It really doesn’t hurt enough to complain about, it is more cool to know right where the artery is.
No T-Shirt. AND my pciture of the machine that went bing was deleted off my camera accidentally.
Dr. appointment Friday to clear me for exercise hopefully. I’m planning out my negotiations for what her idea of exercise is vs. what I think I should be doing…
Thanks for the best wishes!
When you said funky ECG was your heart rate jumping all over the place? Sound like Atrial Fibrilation to me especially with the enlarged left ventricle.
That is one of the main reasons I received a pacemaker to alleviate that problem when my heart rate accelerated. I would show 114,175,245,97,219,136… when I was doing a stress test. Just some FYI Sounds to me like you have an A/V block or your Sic Sinus node is not working correctly.
Rick
Ps: Take it easy on your lifting man, one of the guys I made friends with in the Cardio hospital was in there for exercising to soon after an angiogram-he burst the Artery in his arm doing pulldowns 5 days after the procedure. Take a full 10-14 days and relax and do your cardio.
The cardiologist was less cooperative about giving me a hard copy than my regular doctor, so I only have his comments and I am not sure how to reconcile them with the question. When I went in he was convinced it was just asthma flair ups, even though I pointed out that while I do have asthma, ventolin doesn’t help and it doesn’t feel anything like an asthma attack, but I’m “young and fit” so I shouldn’t have heart disease. I get disoriented with prolonged exercise like the stress test, and he said that my results were “Not what he expected.” and took off before I caught up enough to ask any questions. I see him next Wednesday. I’m hoping my GP can give me some details as to what happened Friday, as I’m not even completely sure what happened on the table yet.
Burst arteries sound like something I want to avoid. I had been planning everything around a groin insertion, so I came up with a lot of upper body work that I could load without intra-abdominal pressure. Now I am thinking of walking/running until the arm is better. I want to know if I can do sprints, but I’ll find out once I know more about what is going on. I miss sprints, and haven’t been able to do more than 50m in a long time.
Yuck, yuck, yuck. I had a catherterization in my teens ( had two, in fact), and it is NOT fun.
Hope everything turns out OK.
I am always sorry to hear about doctors who are not forthcoming with their patients and don’t take the time to answer questions. Inexcusable, really. Hang in there!
Pretty please don’t burst any arteries, I know it sounds cool and all but…
Fucking specialist, they get paid enough, is he afraid you are going to sue him or something?
Well, I nagged until I got an appointment next week, so I’ll have him cornered then. His receptionist is nice, and she reminds me of my one aunt.
My GP is seeing me Friday, a week after the cath, so she should be able to let me know how the wrist is healing. Not having any of the warning symptoms, so I am hoping to be healed enough to do something other than sitting around for next week. A little stir crazy.
Cav, what did you have to suffer through 2 for as a teen? That sucks.
Thanks everyone.
Congenital heart defect. Holes in septum or something like that. Every year in the summer Dad would drive me to children’s hospital and they would poke & prod to see if heart was going to kill me. That was our vacation. Couple of times they did a cardiac catherterization: shove tube through blood vessel, squirt dye in heart, xray. Went in through thigh. Last one done at age 15. Doc proclaimed all healed. It started my determination to toughen my body.
Cool. Not the best vacation story ever, but you seem strong for it. I keep looking at your workouts and wish I could push myself like you obviously do.
Just got caught up in here. Good luck at your appointment on Friday, hope everything goes well.
