Coronavirus - What Happened?

I get the impression that a lot of people actually like that kind of stuff. I find it very strange.

In Italy now they might raise the fines for going out to 3,000 euros. They have been considering confiscating violator’s cars. They also believe that up to 600,000 people might be infected, that is they carry the virus.

A woman who had tested positive and had a fever flew from the north of Italy to Sicily. She had a connecting flight in Rome so she was on two separate planes. She took a taxi from the airport to her home town. She is now in the hospital and will be charged with endangering the public health.

I never thought Italians would be so reckless

Here’s the lesson for us, it only takes one selfish idiot to cause serious damage. In the face of that one can see how strict measures might need to be in place. Had they taken her temperature before entering the airport it would have stopped her. In the US, what’s to stop sick people from going from town to town, state to state? As they have been doing already.

Reminds me of George Bush, “They hate our freedom!”

Over here some provinces require anyone entering from another province to self-isolate for 14 days, and now Ontario and Quebec are considering shutting their borders altogether.

Fortunately it looks to be under control in Ottawa, 25 confirmed cases and 13 undetermined, no new confirmed cases in 4 days. In terms of the economy, if they could shut down highways so that nobody can come or go from out of town then theoretically we might be able to get back to semi-normal in a few weeks.

Quite. These countries were also prepared precisely because they have, in living memory, had to deal with an outbreak of SARS on a massive scale.

They were prepared by fire before now, they didn’t always have this kind of response ready to go.

False. Gun owners are completely unprepared. You can only be prepared if you completely rely upon government. Do you think you can shoot a nuclear explosion? Huh? Do ya?

That’s nothing. When you go further east (or south for that matter), the recklessness increases exponentially. One mobster turned millionaire potentially infested 350 patients and medical staff.

True. He also needs to dress like a cross between a Klansman and the construction worker in the Village People.

You millennials suck at humor.

Anyone notice the irony how the same crowd that was foaming at the mouth about “Obama’s death panels” and “forced abortions” is remarkably now cavalier with the whole every life is precious thing, proposing a very un-Christian survival-of-the-fittest approach to checks notes “save the economy”?

“Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren’t they? They’re all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you’re born, you’re on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don’t want to know about you. They don’t want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you’re preborn, you’re fine; if you’re preschool, you’re fucked.”

What is un-Christian, exactly?

I mean, it’s crazy! Everyone knows you can only be consistent when opposing abortion if you also oppose the right of a father to kill a man that breaks into his home and is caught attempting to rape his daughter.

You found out about Trump beeing an idiot NOW? Where did you spent the last years!? Is space travel secretly a thing by now!?

I’d start with Epistle to the Galatians to find the answer to this question.

Did Paul tell the Galatians to force their fellow man to do the right thing or to live by the word of God themselves?

Not really. I mean we buy a shit ton of guys pretty much all the time. Just more in times like this and when our President is a Muslim born in Kenya or something.

This idea that the moment things get tough all these gun toting Americans are going to be ready to fight is nuts. You know what would happen if troops showed up in places like where I’m from? They would be hailed as heroes. These are the ones who get hard when Trump hugs the flag and share stuff like end welfare support our troops pictures on Facebook. Colin kneels during the anthem? Kill him? Give up my guns to two guys in camo? “Thank you for your bravery sir and I’m glad to do my patriotic duty.”

Shit if Trump said to hand over your guns tomorrow he’d probably have an easier time getting them from his own supporters than anyone.

Don’t get me wrong we have some people who would throw down, but the majority? Fuck no huge myth. Everyone’s a wanna be he man hard dick on the internet. The reality is the place I live in now that isn’t afraid to fly the confederate flag? They get winded picking the gun up.

The vast majority of people in America are way too comfortable to risk anything
but they will tell you they will. You should believe it like you believe every new forum poster on here bench.

Some people on this site through down over it? No doubt. Most gun owners? Not even close. Just to be clear I’m not saying either position is good or bad just how I think things would go.

Totally agree. Most would beg to get into a FEMA camp. Just make us feel safe again! Probably 95% of the population would willingly disarm for their daily comfort.

Dr. Birx - "I wanted to say one other thing because you see a lot of numbers out there about 70 percent of the population is going to get infected or 60 percent of the population based on those models. Understand that the way you get to that number is you do nothing and it goes through three cycles.

So, they’re talking about this cycle that we’re currently in, another cycle in 2021, and a third cycle in ’21/’22, in order to get that level of population infected. And you know we will have vaccines most likely by the ’21/’22 season. And we’re going to hopefully have therapeutics in the fall of the next season.
So the reason we’re so much focused on blunting the curve for this piece is, if the virus comes back, we’ll have much more facility both for diagnosis, testing, monoclonal antibodies, treatments, and then the vaccine.
