Coronavirus - What Happened?

Yep exactly. He would trade the well-being of America for 4 more years of power. And Trumpers apparently are ok with that.

Democrats aren’t the ones pulling the bullshit. We’re talking about the bill that was blocked twice by the dems whilst Mitch McConnell (one of the slimiest US politicians currently in power) whined about it… The bill caters towards bailing out big businesses, not workers/small businesses that may go under.

Surely you’re joking. Trump should have Executive Ordered a halt to all immigration right off the bat and taken the political hit even though no one would ever have any idea that he prevented COVID-19. Yeah. Makes sense.

IMO, the president is far more concerned with perception and getting reelected than he is with doing what is best for the county. That is sad, and a reality we need to address as voters. Not just with Trump, but all politicians that are more concerned with getting money and elected again over doing what is best for the people they represent.

Instead he downplayed the virus, acted like it didn’t exist for months… disassembled the pandemic response team until one day he states (after calling it a democratic hoax mind you whilst his supporters are it up) ā€œthis is a pandemic, I’ve always known this was a pandemicā€

Congress is made up of both parties and I didn’t single out either one so I’m not sure why you’re pretending I did.

What do you think about that? It does seem like a major concern, and will result in more crime and a lot of people shooting at suspects. Publicly announcing that is like telling thieves that they are free to go about their business with no fear of police

A lot of people in the US already have guns, they are just buying more in case things become totally lawless or civil war breaks out or something along those lines. I was told by a gun owner that in Canada handguns and short barelled shotguns are selling out, people are preparing for combat. The difference is that in Canada only criminals are allowed to carry guns in public.

That is just stupidness, but the real concern is that if 20-30% of people are suddenly unemployed and just get one check from Trump then a lot more people will resort to crime. You might not be safe in your own house anymore. That seems to be more of a realistic concern in the US than in Canada because here they are making it easier to get unemployment benefits and that will add up to a lot more than a single check, but the other question is how long can they keep that up before the money runs out?

Turning this into a partisan issue is stupid. And I’m not blaming you, you are just echoing what the politicians are saying.

People who say stuff like that don’t understand the electoral system.

Look at what the Clintons did to Haiti after the earthquake. If Hillary was president they would probably find a way to rob America and leave half the population living in makeshift tents.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence

See above. They are all on the same level.

I’m not, but the bill was blocked primarily by democrats

What immigration? I don’t think there are thousands of legal immigrants coming to the US everyday.

For the most part, excepting the current pandemic, I would disagree.

It’s sad that even with hindsight you are putting Trump’s reelection ahead of the good of America, and american lives.

Who, to be fair, tried to insert their own pork.

And how would we not now he prevented coronavirus? Oh that’s right. Because we never got it.

No, you can win without the majority voting for you… Depends how many votes you get within the electoral college. Hillary won the popular vote, Trump garnered more electoral votes and thus won. A presidents approval rating doesn’t have to be positive for him to win.

These are excuses/justifications. Because one bad thing happened regarding Haiti it somehow justifies Trump’s thousands of lies to the public, his many, many scandals, accusations of rape and more… Because Hillary could’ve gotten in and she might have done something worse…

I think we will have to agree to disagree on that.

Agreed with you

Given he actually stated he didn’t want to let US citizens on a cruise back in because it would raise the number of cases and ā€œhurt re election chancesā€, this was while he was still denying the virus was a problem… His denial of the virus, vehement downplaying then trying to act as if he knew all along, he’s the hero etc (he frequently displays delusions of granderiosity… Almost as if he has a drug problem). He cares about what’s best for Trump, not the US populace as a whole (this is my opinion mind you, others are liable to believe whatever they want)

It’s not ā€œAmerica firstā€ it’s ā€œTrump firstā€

It appears many chose to outright ignore/dismiss his awful management of this situation, his many prior scandals/the way he bullies people, his demeanour etc

Yes, if I recall correctly they wanted to alter the bill so that it catered towards bailing out workers/small businesses… How unethical (if I’m wrong and they did more then I’ll admit I’m wrong here)

They said the other day that based on the latest data it is 1.4%

For sure, what would you do if you have no job, no way to get one, no money coming fro the government, and nothing to eat? You would have no choice.

I posted an article about South Korea the other day, I think we need to examine what they are doing because they have managed to slow the spread of the virus and not completely crash the economy. Failing to do either will be a disaster.

It’s definitely going to be over 4 weeks, and probably a lot more than 6 too. Schools were closed for 3 weeks here at first, now they are closed indefinitely and stricter shutdown measures are coming in as of midnight. The economy will take a long, long time to get back to anywhere close to the previous ā€œnormalā€.

Is Michelle too tall for you?

Yes, he won because he won more constituencies across the country, which is how the election in decided. So what is there to argue about? If that’s a problem then why didn’t Obama change it? We have the same system in Canada, just different names for things.

It doesn’t justify anything, I’m just pointing out that the Clintons are pieces of shit and things might end up just as bad or worse with Hillary as president.

And what about Bill’s sexual assault allegations and such? Monica Lewinsky nothing compared to the other stories, he’s no better than Trump.

If you read one of my posts higher up I mentioned that I ā€œdespise Bill Clintonā€

Still regarding allegations sexual assault/misconduct… It’s Clinton’s six to Trump’s 23

Super late here, I must call it a night. It’s been nice talking with everyone, will resume this convo/debate tommorow.

Ok, but then what is the use of all this partisan bickering? Politicians are pieces of shit, not matter what party the represent. Going on and on about Trump will get you nowhere, and if it wasn’t Trump then it would be someone else you are complaining about.

Does that somehow make it better? Remember that this is the Me Too era and everyone was jumping on the anti-Trump bandwagon, if Bill was in his place it could easily be the same thing.
