Coronavirus - What Happened?

Reductio ad absurdum doesn’t make for a strong case.

Tony Romo is an anomaly.

Unfortunately, not everyone will be as responsible as you. Hence the reason why the restrictions became tighter and more “mandatory”.

We are a country of too many fucking dolts that only think of ourselves, and what is convenient now. Not enough critical and long term thinking going on. Hell, as soon as it becomes painful trump says he is going to lift measures the healthcare community unanimously deems neccesary.

H1n1 isn’t comparable to covid 19

Far lower mortality rate, easy to develop a vaccine for…

I thought the virus was China’s fault? What would you have said if Trump had banned all travel in/out of the US back in January? Which probably would have greatly mitigated this. Would it have been the default “he’s a racist”, which by the way is not one of his many faults, reaction?

No… As matter of fact all countries should’ve done this after the 80,000th case…

China didn’t disclose the viruses existance until thousands of cases had developed. Whether the first case outside of china actually developed after disclosure of covid-19’s existance could theoretically be up to interpretation given the presence of mild/asymptomatic cases

I personally believe there are far, far more cases worldwide than we are currently aware of. The mortality rate (in my unprofessional opinion) will probably be closer to 1-2%, not 3.4%

Should a president take actions based upon public perception, or based on what he/she thinks is the best for the country?

Do you think, as people are more and more economically hurt, there could be a sharp rise in the incidences of suicide? Should this be a factor in the governments response? Could crime increase as people run out of money and start forcibly taking the things they need? Could there be other factors in play the lame-stream media isn’t talking about?

And they also suppressed information coming out of Taiwan about the virus.

One of the shitty parts about being POTUS is that the public will never know all the terrible things that were prevented. We only know about failures that allowed terrible things to happen.

Trump would have been called racist. He would have taken a hit. But american lives would have been saved. Honestly, do you think Trump would willingly save american lives etc, if he knew it would tarnish his reputation? I honestly think he is the least selfless president of my lifetime.

China has a looooot to answer for regarding this virus alone. Initially they also censored/penalised journalists covering the virus/trying to get the info out of the country

He’s so selfish, bro! He should’ve just given the election to Democrats. What a POS!

I would tend to agree. Can anyone say with certainty even the most perfect response would have halted the virus? Prior to the evidence of the virus’s quickness to spread, do you think Americans, the media, and the political class would have jumped on board the governments current recommendations?

Nope, you’ve interpreted my message incorrectly. The virus spread can be contained… Look at South Korea, singapore

Trump blundered this response big time, as did Scott Morrison (Australian president… I jokingly call him the Donald Trump of Australia)… I don’t think he’s nearly as bad, but I do think he’s incompetent/unfit to be president similarly to Donald Trump

Sure. But what are the economic issues with allowing a large portion of the population to become sick, hundreds of thousands die, and a few million having long term complications? PTSD and suicide among healthcare workers goes up, etc.

It seems like short term pain (4-6 weeks) will allow the economy to get back to normal the fastest. What we can be sure of is that flipflopping and hslfassing will lead to a subpar reduction in cases, and a subpar economic recovery. There needs to be a plan, and we need all of America to commit to it.

If we had an African-American transsexual dwarf as President, the virus would never have reached our shores.

We need a more progressive, diverse president than this to halt the spread… But no, the spread could’ve been stopped. South Korea, Singapore, Japan all did/have done a far better job

It’s the latter but the former is most often the reality. I mean, look at the bullshit Congress is trying to pull right now with the relief bill.
