Coronavirus - What Happened?

He thought he was playing a game of political “tit for tat” against China. The “racism” reaction from the dems was expected. The CCP isn’t playing this game. They simply want to make the US look like the bad guys. Now there’s infighting and people of Chinese ethnicity all around the world are pissed off.

People need to understand this: China does not align with the left, nor the right in the West, no matter how many youtube guys love to push this idea.

You have to draw a line, at some point.
Right now, yes, it’s full emergency. Priority is to stop or reduce the spread and keep people alive. Any help is gratefully accepted.
But mind my words, China is “helping” here in Italy, they sent masks, gloves and a small task force of medics sharing their knowledge they gathered in Wuhan. That’s fine, cool, appreciated. Doesn’t change the fact that they are responsible for this.
The virus originated in their country, through an illegal practice (wet markets are not legal there either, they just don’t give a fuck), they kept it silent while it spread, then made it public too late and after their lockdown, building the illusion they were containing it. It’s a criminal conduct, no more no less.
And here, people are already seeing chinese as saviors for some minimal help they’re sending and that really won’t change much in the big scheme of things.
That’s how people act in a situation like this. They look for the magic savior.

They just don’t realize the huge clusterfuck we’re all heading towards, together. European economies could end on their knees.
I do remember Greece after 2008, the average white collar wage dropped to $400. A surgeon earned $600. People couldn’t withdraw from ATMs, their cards were blocked. Unemployement was sky high, suicide numbers went through the roof.
Now, Italy is at risk (as usual), Spain is already collapsing, but major players like Germany and France are at risk too. You might think this isn’t relevant to the US, but you’re wrong, for two reasons: first, you might have heard that Germany’s Deutsche Bank asked $100bn to the FED. Why would they do it, you could ask, and that’s because if Deutsche Bank blows up, they’re taking 4-5 of America’s biggest banks with them. Germany has heavily invested in american financial derivatives over the years.
Second, with european economies collapsing and the US in crysis, it’s the perfect chance for China to literally buy our countries. That is, buying our businesses and companies at ridicolously low amounts. Europe could become, de facto, a chinese colony. They pretty much already bought Africa, and they own something like half of America’s debt already, so while their economy holds and our economies implode, they could do the same in the US too.

You might wonder who would do such a thing in a moment of worldwide emergency, I’ll just say that when Italy announced their lockdown, there were foreign businesses ready to capitalize on the drop of our markets. And it wasn’t the commies or the nazis, it was french companies, the country that stands literally behind us on the map. With a little extra help by the EU spokeswoman, whose interview managed to drive our markets under the ground, intentionally.
Italy has bought -mind it: we bought- masks from abroad, and the shipments we were waiting have been stopped and held in Germany, France, Poland and Czech Republic, 'cause they’re running low on masks too. This happened even before the other countries were in full outbreak and while hospitals in our region, Lombardy, were barely holding against the number of sick people coming in.
So yeah, the take home point here is that apparently you can’t trust nobody, not even the countries that are supposedly “allies”.

You let something like this slide, you’re basically letting China know they can do everything they want, whenever they want, with no repercussions.
Now it’s not the time for political warfare, there are more pressing concerns, but when this fuckfest is over things will need to change, heavily.

Do you have more information about the Italian bought medical supplies being stopped and seized by EU nation’s?

You have states here competing for masks, driving up the price.

It’s on all european papers, lemme see if I can find an english source.

This one covers many cases and also how other countries are taking turns fucking each other:

Germany:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-09/germany-faces-backlash-from-neighbors-over-mask-export-ban

(Italian masks were released after our minister contacted them)

Czech Republic (shipment was “stolen”):

ECB chief Lagarde (french) driving our markets to the ground with her speech, apparently a “mistake” on her side but I like to think that people in her position don’t make bland “mistakes”. Our intelligence started monitoring foreign operations on our markets after her interview, she opened the door to wild speculation:

EDIT: I don’t really want to go in depth about how much of a gutter the EU is. It literally has 2-3 top players that dictate rules (and then manage to bend those rules if they need to do it for their own interest), while enforcing the craziest, stricter and unnecessary rules and norms to others. The EU literally cannibalized Greece to survive the 2008 crysis, that’s how it manages to hold itself without collapsing under its own weight.

Shitty situation. On the one hand I understand why they stopped the shipments- to ensure their own populace has what it needs. But on the other hand, they are all supposed to be one economic entity and other nations have based their planning and preparation on this agreed upon policy.

Group of teachers in a school close to here got up at 430 am to prepare food for kids. Radio said they packed over 9,000 lunches.

On the one hand, this is a sign of good people doing good things, on the other, it’s a sign of just how dependent some people are on the government to simply survive.

That’s bad ass.

No doubt. But right now it’s more important to help people than worry about who’s helping. Maybe we’ll ask some questions like why do some CEO’s make over 1,000 times the amount of their average workers when this is all said and done.

In 1968 the top 20% of households brought in 43% of the nations income. Now it’s at 52%.

The top 5 % of households went from having 16% of all income to 23%.

Bound to all trickle down sometime though. Must have a clog.

And now we’ve seen that those numbers actually mean something.

The numbers are worse when it comes to wealth compared to income. If you run a surplus every year, it adds up.

You will notice the green slice (that you can’t see) represents the total wealth of the bottom 40%.

The bottom 80% of US citizens have roughly 15% of the total wealth. IMO that is a problem.

Everyone now has a solution…that is several months too late. If your plan can be prefaced with “should have” then it isn’t a plan.

This is stupid.

From the article:
"1. Open the economy back up. Let young and healthy people work and feed their families.

  1. Encourage masks, or even require them, for certain industries where transmission might be especially likely.

  2. Keep nursing homes quarantined.

  3. Tell other at-risk people to remain in their homes for now.

  4. Test aggressively and quarantine the infected.

  5. Provide financial relief to at-risk people who cannot work."

Ooooookay. Let’s break this down.

“Open the economy back up. Let young and healthy people work and feed their families.”

Most young and healthy people are working right now, and feeding their families, numbers are still racing higher and higher.

“Encourage masks, or even require them, for certain industries where transmission might be especially likely.”

We’ve already been over this, most masks don’t stop transmission, they do stop you touching your face which is good, but they also promote careless behavior, and we also just don’t have enough masks available for this.

“Keep nursing homes quarantined.”

Yeah. We did this. Nursing home still has a case in my state.

“Tell other at-risk people to remain in their homes for now.”

LOL. People will always just do the right thing, huh.

“Test aggressively and quarantine the infected.”

Hard when the NUMBER OF INFECTED IS RACING HIGHER EVERY DAY.

“Provide financial relief to at-risk people who cannot work.”

Literally talks in the senate going on right now, with people trying to pass it, although Mnuchin wants to pass, as is customary for his slimy ass, a bill that would give a fuckload of money to businesses without specifying what they’re supposed to do with it, effectively giving them free reign to take money and still lay off workers.

The economy is not shut down. I’m still working. Lots of people are still working. This 15-day bullshit literally has meant NOTHING to anybody who is still able to go out and walk around like nothing is wrong. My whole state gives 0 fucks about this right now and everyone is out walking their dogs, kids at playgrounds, etc. If we do an ACTUAL 15-day stay-at-home order countrywide, then maybe you could talk about how silly it is to continue these things. But right now, if you just “open everything back up”, ENOUGH PEOPLE are going to stay home that businesses are going to be fucked in the long term with severely reduced numbers, because more people are still getting sick and we never actually did anything to stop this.

This is what’s so infuriating about the whole ‘but the economy’ crowd. If we DONT shut EVERYTHING down, we will stay in a state of limbo PERMANENTLY where a sizeable percentage stays home and doesn’t give businesses the patronage they need, but ENOUGH stupid people still go out and transmit the virus.

TL;DR, the guy that wrote that article literally ignored every single thing that is happening and typed a list of completely useless measures.

One step is missing from that plan: inventing a time machine so we can go back and do things differently.

Don’t panic.

So how would a 15 day shut down of everything work? Like you said, people arent going to obey. How would you enforce something like that?
