Coronavirus - What Happened?

I’m very appreciative to have people from across the world posting about how things look on their end both in this thread and in the off topic one.

JPM predicting a 12% drop in the US economy in Q2. Buckle up, boyos.

We used up all the wealth we had, to build a ship for fools and mad, and knowing it proof against all shocks, steered it blithely towards the rocks.

Unfortunately, I can tell you we Italians didn’t think this was gonna be serious either when we first started hearing about the virus spreading in China.

There’s a saying in Italian, literally “all world is village.” This refers to how some habits and inherent instincts are just rooted in humans, regardless of where you live.

We had basically a very similar thing happening in Italy a few weeks ago. An infotainment TV show was featuring a priest along with some other guests talking about coronavirus. It was the day the government had published the first containing order, which expressly prohibited all forms of human aggregation.

Well, the priest just didn’t wanna give up and kept saying that at 5pm he would celebrate the holy mass in his church.

“The Church has its own authority and we can choose to celebrate the mass regardless of what the government tell us.” There was no convincing him that he couldn’t. He invited people into his church, explicitly defying the new order in front of hundreds of thousands of spectators.

Eventually they had a bishop call him from the Vatican state during the show to tell him he had to adhere to the government orders and restrictions. Only then, after about 20 minutes of arguing, did he give up.

Okay we got your conservative/republican strawman cleared up. Boy you guys nailed it. That’s exactly how those people think.

I’m eagerly awaiting actual Coronavirus information in this thread, but feel free to blast away at conservatives from whatever angle you can.

I said both sides didn’t I? Democrats are just as guilty as being against spending that comes from anyone that isn’t them and using the same talking points.

Nobody actually thinks like that. Not that I’ve ever known.

At this point we might as well argue about which party has the most control over tomorrow’s wind conditions.

The Whigs.

Good man you must have never visited twitter or Facebook.

Wonder if the people get sick there if they go to the doctors office or the church?

You are healed, my son!

I can confirm the amount of people here in America who just don’t give a fuck and aren’t taking it seriously at all. Whether or not we’re infected on a mass scale is irrelevant. Shutdowns are bound to occur, and a big damper on the economy as well.

The US operates in such a strange way. We don’t take things seriously until something happens RIGHT in our back yard. “Oh it’s California, Washington, and New York…” …“Oh now it’s my state, but not my county!” …“Oh now it’s my county, but fuck it man I’m INVINCIBLE.”

I said nobody I know.

Please. Enough. This is the Coronavirus thread.
