Coronavirus - What Happened?

I’ve wanted to say that many times over the last couple of years, but haven’t.

It’s true but I’ve edited my post to give another rationale. It’s because we’re brought up with all the Confucian stuff. Even in China which is the largest Chinese populated country, it’s hard for people to move and find work and/or lodging outside of their own provinces because of the hukou system so it 's the same thing as other Chinese dominated countries when it comes to living with or near their parents.

One of my relatives found it easier to move to where I live to find a job than getting a job in a 1st tier province. The dude’s a computer science grad but he ended up as a factory worker until lots more jobs were available in IT in his province so he moved back there. If he worked in a factory in a 1st tier city at the time, he would have been earning 1/4 of what he was earning here. We generally don’t hire people from China for IT work here because, even up to the present generation, they STILL can’t speak English unless they are from International schools so we get people from Indian instead.

And to make my opinions clear, I am NOT pro lockdowns and if you’ve read my earlier posts I’ve anticipated and have been against vaccine passports even before my own country and the US introduced them. On my end, I could also almost literally smell it like what I think will happen with Omicron.

BUT, like that exchange I had with you previously about mandatory mask wearing, I know these things - lockdowns, quotas for WFH, vaccine passports etc - are INEVITABLE depending on the number of cases since they all do minimize transmission and we take the costs of other things out of the equation. Having been in the military, I’ve accepted that the government will do anything to cover it’s ass and how people will react if a mandate is passed and some dumb fucks refuse to abide by them.

Remember how the sergeant decided to punish the whole squad other than the guy who kept fucking up in Full Metal Jacket? That’s the mentality here. You do something stupid like go to a semi-legal strip club while having mild symptoms and spread the virus to one of the chicks that go from one club to the next every night for tips and start a fucking large cluster, the government will take a step back from re-opening and reintroduce some measures and you may actually get doxxed since these clubs here are required to take down each patron’s personal details even before the vaccine passports were introduced.

So we have 2 kinds of people here other than anti-vaxxers. The ones whom are afraid of getting infected and transmitting the virus and the ones who want to flout the rules but are afraid of stuff like, for example, being filmed without a mask in public since the government WILL FIND YOU if such a video goes viral and you’ll end up in court lol.

Had every country simultaneously decided to “flatten the curve”, and had every individual fantastically decided to follow the rules for those two weeks… covid wouldn’t be around. .

They help indoors, so long as they’re change frequently and you wear kn95 masks or surgical masks (preferably the former)

You are seriously disconnected from reality my friend. Not intending to offend… but your posts entail a cesspool of conspiracy laden ideology.

I’ll ask again because I’m curious and never got an answer last time… have you ever taken anabolic steroids? If so… worrying about cardiovascular disease associated with the intake of a vaccine is an absolute joke.

First of all, Merry Christmas!!

You’ve got a lot going on there with that post but I’ll give it a go. The first pic in your post is a bill that got introduced in 2015 to deal with people coming into the US with the ebola virus and they are not voting on it on January 5th.

That also covers the second to last bullet point in your second pic. At the end of the day a lot of people got duped by this scare tactic so it was an effective form of propaganda for those pedaling conspiracy theories.

In the second pic several of the points just bring the COVID vaccine requirements in line with all the other many vaccination requirements that kids need to attend school. I’ve lived in a few different places and right now I reside in the deep south in a very, very red state. Interestingly it’s been the place with the most stringent requirements to show proof of vaccination for school. So most people here take vaccinations really seriously…except for the COVID vaccine.

I’m not in favor of Bills A3091 or A822.

I kinda’ like the idea of Patrick Burke’s bill. If you choose not to get the COVID vaccine and then you get sick then it’s on you. However, I don’t like the idea of giving insurance companies more reasons to deny coverage so it’s a good idea on paper, but the execution would be a shit show.

It was stricken because of the backlash. It has been proposed every year, they were just hoping it would go further this time because of the “dangers” of covid.

All the bullet points are BS. Forcing flu shots? Not immunizations.

What about the over half a million people who die from heart disease due to poor lifestyle, should they be denied? Smokers, drinkers, the obese?

I answered you already I said no.

It is a conspiracy theory? They are running up numbers and the test is inaccurate. Everything from how cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are counted is to run up covid numbers.

A “covid hospitalization” is anyone admitted to a hospital for any reason within 28 days of testing.

Terminally ill with little time dies, same. It is ridiculous.

Just follow the narrative. Is this also a crazy conspiracy?

Adorable. You do not actually believe that.

OMG! Pro-vax BOTS?!!

Merry Christmas, guys.

NBA unilaterally lowered their quarantine period from 10 to 6 days.

CDC, in an obvious public relations move (sarcasm) to trump (pun intended) NBA, lowers quarantine period from 10 to 5 days.

Moral of the story: professional sports organizations have the money and the motivation, and therefore the wherewithal, to get the actual data needed to make informed decisions. (only half sarcasm)

In other news, the NFL has changed their policy wrt vaccinated players -they no longer test vaccinated players for 'da Covid unless they have symptoms.

Will the CDC have the “nerve” to follow suit? Or is that too bold a move for public consumption???

aka, they don’t work. And surgical masks really don’t work. In the context of full covering they help; protect others from you, it doesn’t protect you from others at all. N95 alone don’t work because you have eye’s and ears and hands. And if you have a beard, like me, they don’t seal. And no I am not shaving for a stupid mask.

I really wish the mask madness would stop. People look ridiculous, precisely because it doesn’t work. It’s like trying to hit a baseball with a baseball.

Of all the things this one is so obvious and people still fall for it, hook line and sinker. Just as effective is putting you hand in front of your mouth or holding up a piece of paper in front of your face. Masks stop spit and that’s it.

Yup. It’s sad people seem allergic to critical thinking.

This shouldn’t be a shock but sadly it is. It’s interesting how people just quit being logical in the face of covid. This is mostly all political, it has very little to no basis in fact.

What the conspiracy theorists have been saying for years now. How much freedom and time was taken from people?

The newly updated CDC guidelines don’t require testing at the end of isolation because PCR tests can stay positive for up to 12 weeks, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky told “Good Morning America” on Wednesday.

Mask requirements have been openly dismissed by Connecticut’s Democratic Governor Ned Lamont, whose state is also in the throes of a COVID surge.

Q: Gov. Lamont, will you reinstate the mask mandate in Connecticut to curb the current spike?
A: Well, it’s not curbing the spike in New York City.
