Coronavirus - What Happened?

I believe you, dude. I also recall you gave us the heads up on the rapid rate the vaccine would be developed by Oxford quite early on despite all the naysayers. Thanks for that. I looked it up quite in depth and though there was a high probability that it would happen and made plans for it in advance.

People where I live generally aren’t anti-vaxxers because everyone was already forced to receive BCG vaccinations when they were kids. But lots of idiots are refusing the Pfizer one which is being given out FOR FREE by the government which are even distributed them to private clinics all over the fucking country for rapid inoculation. They are holding out for the fucking CHINA one(s) because they watch the fucking China cable news where they keep dissing everything from the West although I don’t think our government is going to buy any of them lol.

Fuck, a country where one partially government owned company mass produced melamine tainted milk powder for babies and they’d rather trust them. A country where they collected discarded lard and oil from the drains, filtered them somehow and mixed them with mass produced commercially available cooking oil. They trust them more than Pfizer and Oxford. They’re worse than anti-vaxxers IMHO. It’s not like in other countries where they have no choice since they can only afford the China vaccines.

Of course, the China vaccine may be legit since the UAE has already used it on the masses but the mindset of these guys is just mindboggling. You’re getting the more reliable shit FOR FREE and you don’t want it.

Curiously, what do you do with people in your social circle (online or otherwise) who post utter nonsense like this? Do you cut them out of your life because you dont suffer fools, or do you spend the time trying to explain why they are wrong, or do you just ignore the lunacy and act like they never posted an article calling the Covid vaccine a new holocaust?

What do you do? And anyone else here? I’ve seriously curious. I’ve never met an anti-vaxxer in my life since everyone where I live already had their mandatory BCG vaccinations when they were kids here.

There are ACTIVISTS???

ACTIVSTS!???

People who take time off just to go out and rally against vaccinations??? Just don’t fucking get vaccinated if you feel so strongly about it.

What the fuck is wrong with these people?

Cool.

Mercifully not a frequent problem I have. But I am very blunt with friends and family, let’s put it that way.

Thanks to the mind bogglingly stupid interventions of Macron and Merkel, the same is happening in Europe.

Oxford vaccines being refused and unused. Nice result of their saber rattling there, eh? Start a trade war for a vaccine you subsequently don’t use and your citizens don’t want because you’re so ass-blasted about your contracts being shit that you resort to trashing the Anglo vaccine.

Top marks all round, chaps.

Edit: There’s also some Anglo idiots that only want the British vaccine, so I shan’t say the malady is unique. I’ll take what I can get, quite frankly.

Your continued updates on this are really eye opening, by the way haha.

500 years ago they would have been peasants giving their money to the elite ruling class and church while they remained uneducated, poor, gullible, superstitious, slack-jawed rubes.

I think I just described present day Alabama.

I have a shit ton of “friends” (former students and colleagues, old friends from high school college etc) that post this stuff. But I just “read” Facebook and never post anything. I’ve seen people try to correct them and it just turns into fights that get nowhere. I’m mainly looking for pictures of close friends family as I have 4 nieces and a nephew.

That’s all online. In my actual social circle I only have one friend that’s an anti vaxxer (wife’s friend actually) and we just don’t talk about it.

This is the only place I really talk about politics, religion, etc. I haven’t ever seen too many people change their mind on something over a debate so I just don’t waste time with it. I’d rather talk to people about anything else. This is the only social media where I actually do anything. Haven’t made a Facebook post in years.

It took me the longest time to figure out whom you were talking about, here! I think your sister-in-law’s husband is just that…not your BIL.

My confusion, confused you haha. So, he is my SILH. Doesn’t flow as well.

I consider my wife’s brother’s wife to be my sister in law.
Their kids call me Uncle Treco.

We ain’t even related…
:yum:

I don’t like that usage…for the reason it creates a marriage between your BIL AND SIL.

My sister’s kids call my wife “Aunt ____” as well, and my kid’s call my brother-in-law “Uncle ____.”

I feel the same about you guys talking about local things happening on the ground in your respective countries. Lots of stuff the media either doesn’t understand when reporting, or just purposefully omit.

I still can’t get over that “HK fighting for freedom” nonsense. They’re never even had democratic elections under British Rule nor were they even complaining about it, but the worldwide media had to spin it for the headlines, which emboldened the small number of lunatics, which led to the fucking new internal security law and people accepted it because these idiots were doing stupid shit in the middle of a fucking PANDEMIC.

The real shit NOW is happening in Myanmar now but is any of it making the headlines? Nope. Fuck, half the world probably still thinks it’s called “Burma”. Governments in South Asian countries are now calling out to their citizens to come home because they anticipate sever escalation of the current shit going down.

I have asked that to myself weekly for decades lol. Good luck finding an answer.

On a serious note the situation in your country disturbs but doesn’t surprise me given the widespread reach of CCP news media…

I only take the time to try talking with family on it. Anyone else… Not worth the trouble. Fortunately I don’t have any of those crazies as friends.

Well, I have one very smart one, but he’s not full anti-vaxxer.

Sadly true on both counts :joy:

I mean, anti-vaxxers should be able to relate. Not wanting to expose themselves and loved to something they believe is dangerous.

It’s extended to almost everywhere in South Asia other than places like India. We have people in Muslim nations whom are pro-CCP now despite the Uyghur situation.

The majority of people here were against, even ANGRY at, the initial HK protests, which I felt were extremely justified given the fact that proposed extradition bill was a breach of the Handover Treaty and police brutality is fucking REAL over here and there was alleged involvement by the triads(high probability) who were either paid off by the CCP or the police to fuck shit up.

That was BEFORE the extremist morons continued to push their luck once the extradition bill was withdrawn.

I think it’s one lesson the CCP learned well: how to maximize your use of media to ensure your propaganda goals. I think they learned from the failures of the USSR as well as other communist countries.
