Coronavirus - What Happened?

Yep, that’s the question. Once 70-80+% of the population is fully vaccinated it won’t matter because of herd immunity, but that will take time to distribute/shoot. But to find out whether the vaccine keeps one from being an infectious carrier is going to take time and observation.

Typically we would have a pretty good idea of the answer to that question, but also typically vaccine development takes more than 4 years for novel diseases.

Edited to add-- given clear criteria for effectiveness and enough statistical power in the trial it’s pretty easy to determine whether a vaccine is effective at stopping severe disease. It’s not always easy to determine carrier status depending on a bunch of factors.

Second dose scheduled for 3 weeks after first dose.

Also, have to wait around for 15 minutes (which is longer than “normal”), just in case of some potential wacky reaction.

Yep. Sounds boring but prudent. Are you getting it due to work?

Doctor buddy (big hospital) got it.

I’m not very VIP, so I’ll probably be sometime late next year…

I was wondering how you landed the shot so fast

I’m tentatively scheduled for mid-January, but I expect the date will be pushed back due to production/delivery bottlenecks…

This is a claim beyond extraordinary.

No. It’s not. That’s why dickheads whine when things are allowed to open up.

I’ll give these guys like Hannity, Carlson and Limbaugh credit…they know who pays their multi-million dollar paychecks.

Looks like Carlson is going full Anti-COVID Vaccine.

Oh well.

Aren’t these the same guys who called out celebrities for claiming vaccines cause autism?

We know that’s not true, so how could this vaccine be different?

Edit: Trying to understand that logic might lead to an aneurysm

Also, being diabetic, I am taking the vaccine first chance I get. The possible risks from it are much less than the risks from COVID-19.

You did ask what Fox’s response to OANN and Newsmaxx might be. Now you see at least part of it. Tucker Carlson going full retard.

You could be right on this one, @dcb …sadly

While the boss himself is taking full advantage of having access to universal health care.

I thought we were supposed to honor Trump by naming the vaccine after him?

If you believe that covid is fake, then are you calling Trump a liar because he admits it exists?
If you believe the vaccine is bad, then are you saying that Trump failed yet again since Trump has been bragging about how HE is responsible for getting the vaccine created so quickly?

Trump cultists must be really confused right now.

You know there will be allot of self centered dick heads who will toss the mask once vaccinated. Regardless if they can be carriers or not.

Hyperbole. Belongs in the Trump thread 'bro.

FTR, O’ Reilly is to the right of Carlson (whatever that means these days), and O’ Reilly has stated multiple times before the rollout that he would definitely be taking the vaccine when possible.

Are you telling me vaccines don’t cause autism?

I’m autistic, I’ve been given vaccinations… coincidence? I think not

Selfish a-holes that won’t wear masks and take other measures to minimize the spread are well documented.

Now that vaccines are available, there’s another type of selfish a-hole emerging:

Not a surprise, but still disappointing that these people would take doses away from front line workers and the elderly. I hope somebody outs them.

Yeah, I figure as much. I mean I hate the things too, I’ve eaten more of my beard than I ever had in all the years beforehand combined lol. One step closer though.

As long as we can get the doses out efficiently and distributed fairly and be back in economic action it seems fair to me.
