Coronavirus - What Happened?

Sounds like the menu at a Chinese wet market.

The virus doesn’t affect crops or livestock.

I think a recession is like a time point comparison, so you could easily say we are in a recession compared to last week, last month, last quarter, etc.

It all depends on how far you zoom in or out.

Certainly not good though. I don’t give a rats ass about the politics of it, but I do care about people and don’t want to see us as a nation suffer economic hardship.

It may affect livestock, see my the article in one of my earlier posts today. But my point with this is that shutting down production and distribution will affect crops and livestock, and the stock market crash could end up putting many companies out of business.

Why would anyone shut down production or distribution? Even China and Italy still have food.

Let’s hope that it doesn’t come to that. If you read Peter Schiff’s tweets then you will see where I’m coming from with that kind of talk. Yes, it is the worst case scenario, but right now it’s not unrealistic.

Food is one thing, and hopefully the last that will be affected because it is absolutely necessary, but with the markets collapsing the next thing is that currency values will crash and then with little or no incentive to produce non-food items we could potentially have shortages of all kinds of stuff and countries will have very little incentive to export goods (including food) if they are being exchanged for now-worthless money. Again, it’'snot me making this up, read Schiff’s tweets. We can only hope it doesn’t get to that point, but the longer this drags on the closer we get to it.

Yet more fucking QE. Let it never be said that the Fed can’t drive an idea into the ground.

this may sound silly, but it is now an interesting question. How are prostitutes getting by? The ones that are hand to mouth/needle types must be getting their lives turned on their ears.

A weird phenomenon is developing throughout Italy. People are getting out on their balconies and to their windows and making noise, singing, playing music, churches are ringing the bells, etc. Some people are literally lighting fireworks from their balcony as well.

Everybody is doing a flash mob at 6pm every day, and at 9pm everybody shuts their lights off at home and turn a light on on their balcony (usually their phone’s). This is going viral and we have a hash tag named #iorestoacasa (I stay home) and everyone is acting like it’s a game.

An example

Here’s a video of a cop screaming ā€œthank you so much, thank you all for cooperating this well,ā€ to the people on balconies, and people screaming ā€œthank youā€ back

I mean, this is not negative per se and helps fight depression I guess (I haven’t took part in it though).

However I can’t help but think that everybody is just slowing becoming crazy and completely losing their minds over here.

I know a few personal trainers that are getting a bit worried about their livelihoods.

That must be a human nature thing.

When I was in my late teens/early 20’s jails were in the old stacked block style with bars, not like the pods design today.

Anyways, people would do that from their cells every night. Yell stuff, scream, sing, talk shit about the white man keeping them down.

It was irritating as shit in that environment. Good to see people acting in a unified peaceful manner instead of screaming and throwing poop.

I see it as people making the best of a bad situation. There are many places where rioting and looting would be the default reaction.

Edit: I have a friend in Ivrea who said the numbers are getting worse there. Is that the case where you are?

I am not updated on the daily numbers as I haven’t checked for a few days, but some regions (mainly Lombardy) are in a terrible spot. They literally ran out of spots for graves in Bergamo’s cemetery and it’s now closed to public.

However, authorities have said that the results of the confining order will reasonably make themselves evident in around 10 days. Indeed, the new cases we’re experiencing these days are people that got infected last week, as it does take some days for the symptoms to manifest.

So it’s reasonable to think that we’ll start seeing the results of these new orders as of next week, with decreased rate of spread of the virus.

There are early indicators that the growth rate is slowly going down in Lombardy, so that’s good news.

Bergamo is fucked.

I’m surprised that video got viral abroad.

I saw it yesterday and thought it was really sad.

I’m not following. You’re under the impression that it would be economically better to not attempt to prevent a quick spread?

Sheriff Clarke apparently had a series of whacko tweets. But my favorite:

ā€œHe also pointed the finger at the left-wing Soros, writing that ā€œnot ONE media outletā€ has asked about the billionaire’s involvement in ā€œthis FLU panic.ā€

ā€œHe is SOMEWHERE involved in this,ā€ Clarke wrote.ā€œ

How has no one thought to see if that rich Jew did this!!!

Just got an email that on Friday someone who has now tested positive was in my office building. There are several doctor’s offices on my floor, so I’m pretty sure they were close. We started working from home today.
