Agree wholeheartedly. And yet someone is trying to take credit and also crying about not getting credit. So I have to respond to our resident Covid hoax guy!
The dude isn’t praising the scientists and talking about how it could save many lives. No it’s all about another picking on me moment from world’s biggest victim.
I think what people should really be concerned about with this vaccine is long term safety and effectiveness rather than any sort of political considerations. mRNA vaccines are a new technology and none have been approved yet, what might appear to be safe in the short terms could cause issues down the road. Not only that, but there are multiple COVID strains so this might only be effective against certain ones. Also this:
"… the vaccine may be 90 per cent effective at preventing COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus.
The analysis was conducted by an independent data monitoring board. It looked at 94 infections recorded so far during the trial to see which occurred among those who received the real shot versus those who received a dummy shot or placebo. Each person gets two injections.

That doesn’t seem like an accurate way to determine effectiveness, maybe there are other factors which explain why more people in one group were exposed to the virus. And:
“Participants were tested only if they developed symptoms. That means it’s possible that some vaccinated participants could still have become asymptomatic carriers and were still able to unknowingly spread the virus.”
But 86% have no symptoms, so this doesn’t prove anything.
The last time a vaccine was produced in a hurry for a potentially deadly virus it had the opposite of the intended effect:
"Prior receipt of 2008–09 TIV was associated with increased risk of medically attended pH1N1 illness during the spring–summer 2009 in Canada. "
The COVID vaccine needs more time before it can be proven to be either safe or effective. Right now if you aren’t someone who is at a high risk for death or severe illness from COVID I would say that taking the vaccine is likely more dangerous than the virus.

The risks are to be balanced with more than eminent death.
I have read long term effect of permanent heart (and lung?) damage now being joined by diminished cognitive.
Older than me probably would volunteer for live studies, just fearing they will catch it anyway. People speak bravely of facing down death, until they are actually facing it.

“Gook” is a derogatory term for Koreans since the country is known as “Han-gook” in Korean which somehow also became associated with the Vietnamese because of the Vietnam War.

I feel like you’ll know this already…but Mussolini used to show off by proclaiming in a crowd, “If there is a God, let him strike me dead now.” as a way to “disprove” religion. I think he qualified that in the article (“obviously the vaccine is great news”…)
Yes it is. But I don’t believe it’s Cuomo’s criticism that dose preparation will be lacking (that can only come from manufacturers). Instead I think he was concerned about the distribution of already made doses.

I went over this several times already in this thread. Simply because mRNA vaccines are newer tech it does not follow that they are riskier. At all. As I recall saying several times, mRNA vaccines are likely to have a LOWER risk than traditional methods, even though it’s not a guarantee.
I wouldn’t trust Reuters reporters to know how to report the ins and outs of a clinical trial. Any clinical trial, not just this one. I’ll read the primary lit.

I avoid updating Windows 10 on purpose. I installed a script that prevents Windows 10 home edition from doing those stupid automatic updates after it very nearly bricked my entire computer during a conference. I had to use command line to manually backup my computer before wiping everything.
Of course I am probably not the kind of person who ends up being a concern here lol
