Coronavirus - What Happened?

I’m assuming your kids go to a government school?

Catholic, which is still basically the same thing.

This sign sums up the current situation:

It doesn’t though. Several Spanish districts are seeing large increases in demand for hospitals due to their recent ‘casedemic.’

Now, I could hope that it is the case that the U.K., France, Ireland and US won’t follow suit, but we have zero way of knowing if the current increase won’t result in more mass death.

That said? The economy is in tatters, we can’t go on as is for very much longer.

Make of that what you will, but we are going to need to find a way to live with this in a way that isn’t lockdown.

I don’t know about Spain, but over here there is only a few people dying in a nursing home and most of the “cases” are people under 40. Toronto is the number one hotspot in Ontario and only one person died in September.

Part of the reason for the increase in “cases” is increased testing, but also the policy was recently changed so that only people who either had symptoms or were referred for testing were allowed to go to testing centres. Previously they were testing anyone and everyone who showed up, except you had to wait in line all day to get in and half the people were turned away and told to come back tomorrow because there was just too much people. Now those most likely to actually be infected are being tested.

The number of “cases” means nothing when more than 50% are asymptomatic and for most who do have symptoms it’s nothing more than a mild cold. They should be concerned with the people who are seriously ill or dying, the statistics are only useful to scare the public further.

You just linked an article saying all five intensive care beds are full. Five beds. This is a sign of a global emergency?

Were on the verge of turning communist in Canada, a lot of people will make more money hardly working or not working at all and the government is talking about having a minimum living wage for people who don’t work or don’t work much. Next it’s going to be food ration cards. We’re already used to lining up like in Venezuela or the USSR.

If nothing else, the COVID panic should assure our rulers that they can do anything they want without fear of opposition from about 95% of the populace. As my dad pointed out: The government could tell Americans to put their guns out with their trash this week, and almost all would comply.

Yeah, this situation really shows that most people are spineless and as dumb as fuck.

You mean like this?

As the death toll in the city rose, officials in neighboring communities and major port cities such as New York and Baltimore established quarantines for refugees and goods from Philadelphia. New York established a “Committee appointed to prevent the spreading and introduction of infectious diseases in this city”, which set up citizen patrols to monitor entry to the city. Stage coaches from Philadelphia were not allowed in many cities. Havre de Grace, Maryland, for example, tried to prevent people from Philadelphia from crossing the Susquehanna River to Maryland

Or like this? Agents of a tyrannical government gunning down a man simply for not donning a mask. Oh the horror!

No.

You’d be a hell of a BLM speaker. That’s not why the guy was shot, according to the story…and the shooter was also charged.

Oh, man. How about this: If you’re worried about COVID, move to Somalia.

That’s funny, Canada is one o the countries that “needs to take action”. We should aim to be more like Somalia, in every way possible.

lol Am I missing something here? Are these bins with lids on them?

Fear is a fantastic persuader. You can’t be a successful politician without being scum, so if they get an opportunity like this - expect shenanigans

Will also add that crisises are the new wars. Folks are no longer interested in seeing their troops sent to die for years at insane cost so no political support. A hurricane, an earthquake, a virus this is where the political gold is now.

This is an interesting take. I can see this to a degree, but given a big enough incident motivating them, wars will remain “supported”

Does it even make a difference if there is a lid or not? The message they are sending to the kids is that the consequence of not following some arbitrary rules is getting sick and dying, but a lot of the kids don’t take it seriously. The other problem here is that if the school makes up a bunch of bullshit rules that don’t make sense then why take any rules seriously at all?

One more example of nonsense in the schools, they have to put hand sanitizer when they come in the door in the morning, they go straight to the classroom (not allowed to use lockers) and put on more hand sanitizer at the door, and then sit down at their desks and put hand sanitizer on for a third time in the span of a couple minutes. The rules must have been made by someone with obsessive compulsive disorder. Severe coronaphobia.

This is basically a bloodless revolution. Businesses ruined, people soon to be evicted from their homes, and millions more starving to death around the world due to the measures put in place for a virus that doesn’t even produce symptoms in more than 50% of people.

This just in. NBC is reporting that trump and Melanie
tested positive for corona.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” -C.S. Lewis

The thing is that this tyranny isn’t for the good of the victims at all

There is another article from time.com that I posted on here before but can’t find right now it was saying that the increase in deaths from starvation due to COVID restrictions is more than double the deaths from the virus.
