“Republican political operatives are recruiting “extremely pro-Trump” doctors to go on television to prescribe reviving the U.S. economy as quickly as possible, without waiting to meet safety benchmarks proposed by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to slow the spread of the new coronavirus”.
I am actually supportive of this, and I’ll tell you why.
I am getting tired of the vitriolic memes and you-tube videos, and all of the people who have made this whole thing a “right/left” issue. I’m tired of all of the talking-heads.
Get it out there and on the record. Challenge the science and how the Pandemic has been handled in public and head-to-head. Cut out the bullshit, come from behind your keyboards and tell us the alternative plans and remedies.
Ionnadis is the poster boy for this and his butchering of statistics is already well known. I’m sure a sufficient number of talking heads with some sort of medical background will volunteer to jump on the “it’s just the flu” bandwagon.
The second talking point is the Hydroxyochloroquine, Apparently it’s a miracle drug like MMS that cures all sorts of ailments and the only reason people died is that evil liberal doctors refused to prescribe it due to their pathological hatred of Trump.
From Hannity’s show:
You’re expecting some intelligent back-and-forth about mitigation strategies, reopening plans, vaccine trials and so forth.
There will be a few “questions” thrown in about why Big Pharma is against it, and the answers will involve lapsed patents and no chance for profit, with a hint of Gates, Soros, and J-…globalists.
The result will be the same as in climate change. Instead of good faith discussions of the science and data and and models and error bars, you’ll get a legitimisation of crackpot opposition.
I keep scratching my head and wondering “When did Bill Gates become a Jooo!.? For decades he was just some nerdy computer guy that had a great idea. Then baddabing badaboom- Massive Jooo!. Did one sneeze on him or something? WTF?”.
Not really, @loppar. In fact what I expect is quite the opposite.
I just want whatever they got to get out there and on the record. Stop the weeping, whaling and gnashing of teeth on YouTube and FOX and let the ignorant sheeple hear your plans on getting things going.
I’m tired of it.
Instead of pointing out all that’s been done wrong, let’s here your alternative facts and plans,
I’m guessing you are referring to the “Republican political operatives” you spoke of above, and I’ll take your word on whatever those people are up to, whoever they may be.
In my state there is no shortage of re-opening plans. I’d say just about every single person who owns or is part of a business has safe operation at the forefront of their minds. All you would need to do is ask them or maybe even check out their social media page to see exactly what measures they are ready to take to get back to business.
Of course, having the governor send police and other officials to pull your licenses puts a kink in even the best-laid plan.
I am not suggesting that everything that has been done or is to be done in the future is correct. In fact, some of what is being suggested is straight-up Police State kind of shit. (especially as it relates to COVID tracking and isolation).
It’s my feeling that the “answer” is somewhere in-between continued shut-down and “screw all you sheeple! Let’s party like its 1999!”
The term “Republican Operatives” was taken from an article. Most of it is being driven by the Trump Campaign and the White House.
I would hope that everyone is for true open discussion and debate on the best course of action at this point.
I read somewhere online this morning before work that the new version of Apple iOS when updating your iPhone has some COVID-19 tracking spec? I mean, I’m sure the government already tracks us in other ways, but allowing more opportunities is bad news. Can anyone confirm?
Of course. It has to be. I don’t know of anyone besides straw man constructs of liberal social media posters who actually believes we should go back to business like it was in 2019.
The much-maligned local folk hero Rick Savage went on Tucker Carlson and was very clear about his plans to safely re-open in remote Oxford County. His plan seemed reasonable to me, at least as reasonable as a plan to re-open in the face of a governor who doesn’t want you to can be.
At the end of that day, it will be up to the Rick Savages to get things done, not the Janet Mills or Donald Trumps.
It is just a personal observation, like most of my posts. I deal with dozens of vendors in my day job from businesses small and large all over New England and even the world. I’m also quite connected with the Maine bar and restaurant circles, which happens when you bounce at both an upscale and fun-as-hell local dive bar. Lots of longer-than-usual conversations lately.
Even the crustiest business owner I’ve spoken to who thinks this is a political hoax wrapped up in a mild virus recognizes the business reality of the situation. I’m not going to dox the guy, but he was a mid-size business owner in his 70’s. He is wealthy and highly at-risk for COVID, but I got the impression that he thinks of himself as a manufacturing businessman responsible for a lot of people’s livelihoods first and foremost.
His take was strictly business. Get the PPE, adopt the best practices that still allow you room to operate and get back to work.
I’m not sure. I guess you prefer to speak in broad narratives and expect everyone to take them at face value. I mean, we went hundreds of posts talking about a broad narrative of white supremacist activities being on the rise without naming a single group or person who espouses white supremacy.
I prefer to examine them a little more closely, I suppose.
Nothing wrong with either, I guess. Narratives are certainly very powerful.
“They think they are taking away Donald Trump’s greatest tool, which is being able to go into an arena and fill it with 50,000 people every single time,” the younger Trump said. “You watch, they’ll milk it every single day between now and November 3. And guess what, after November 3, coronavirus will magically, all of a sudden, go away and disappear and everybody will be able to reopen.”
That’s a dude. One dude. Not “conservatives”.
The only other article I found that named names was just talking to regular Americans, which I don’t find surprising that some hold this view. I know a lot of Americans with a lot of wacky views. I could find some who think Donald Trump is a lizard person, but that doesn’t mean all liberals do.
I don’t see the narrative being broadly applicable, but perhaps I’m missing something that you aren’t.
