Coronavirus - What Happened?

Good for you. Not good if you carry it and gave it to someone it does affect. Which is the point. Most people will suffer few effects, some none. But it is pervasive and you are being a caring reasonable human being when you take measures to protect them, even at personal expense. My little brother gets this, he is most likely dead. As are many other people with risk factors. It’s not about YOUm as a self-centred, blinkered dink, it’s about being capable of concern for someone other than yourself.

Do you have any idea how many people have filed for unemployment to this day, especially in my home state of New York? A lot of these people are poor and can no longer afford to pay for anything, including food. Food pantries are overrun. Are you aware of the number of deaths that unemployment will cause? We cannot save every. fucking. life. Quit being so goddamn vapid.

Agreed. But for the folks who can’t telecommute, but are still working, the best they can do is minimize exposure when feeling well and then hole up at home at the first sign of symptoms.

Curiously what would have been your plan of action back in late February up until now? You even have the ungodly large benefit of hindsight on this one…

Continue my life as normal. Same shit I’ve been doing to this day. The unnecessary panic over this was evident from day uno.

Huh. How high do you think the death toll would have been in that scenario? Much higher right?

You don’t think those numbers would have scared the economy into a voluntary shutdown?

In New York State, absolutely. Governor Cuomo will do anything to shut down and bankrupt the state as long as it helps to undermine President Trump’s re-election. 100 deaths could have been predicted and he would spaz.

So a much higher death toll and a voluntarily shutdown economy. Great plan.

Hey, stay inside until you feel safe or until the government tells you to come out. Government knows best, right?

Can’t allow one grannie to die, right? That is why Cuomo ordered nursing homes to accept covid patients. Wow what a bad move that was.

Wow. So, with the benefit of hindsight, the best plan you can come up with involves many more people dieing and a shutdown economy. Are you a dem deep state plant meant make Trump supporters look stupid?

Yes. And the unemployment filers are temporarily unemployed and getting excellent benefits apparently. State and Federal unemployment which likely amount to more than most of them were making going to work. The gig economy people suffer, but that’s the risk of that sort of employment and they have other avenues available like switching to food delivery for the moment. The shutdown is not likely to kill anyone - that’s a BS red herring argument. Quit being so self-centred and stupid.

Yeah, disregard the recent spike in domestic violence cases. The number of alcohol/drug, suicide, etc. numbers will be released later on. No matter though, right? Gloss over it.

So somebody that was previously making $50K/year, is now unemployed, and collecting roughly $1100/week through unemployment, should go and get an “essential job” (i.e. stocking shelves) as Cuomo said? Where’s the incentive? I know a lot of people that are in that boat and are not trying to game the system, but really, why would they do that?

Not positive, but compare it to the drop in auto accident deaths.

Should we ban people traveling in cars, too? They can get in a crash and die, too. They didn’t ask for it. Could be from a DWI or negligent driver.

Do traffic accidents spread exponentially?

In your previous posts, with the benefit of hindsight, you would choose policy that allows more people to die than the current policy, and still results in a voluntary shutdown of the economy.

Would you like a second chance at Monday morning QB?

No. It’s insane to me that you’re going down this typical “should we ban forks because one guy stabbed another with a fork once” weak ass argument.

If you can’t figure out why a global pandemic requires a different response than driving then you’re beyond help.

how many flu/pneumonia deaths per million this year?

I would assume a lowered amount (compared to 2018) because of lowered transmission rates from quarantine, right?
