The legacy of Chernobyl, I suppose. ‘Oh shit’ moments come much faster now.
I have not…that is awesome!!
Thanks for saving my lazy ass lol…
I’m actually shocked Vietnam is testing that much. As for Eastern Europe, it’s just shocking that massive testing (relative to population size) would affect the outcome. Shocking I tell you.
Ever read WWZ? They stopped that zombie outbreak in it’s tracks.

Respect.
Ugh…
No, I only watched the movie and it sucked BALLS lol.
Yes it did, haha. Book’s better but still nothing to freak out about.
I remember my Indian friends badgering me to read it because of a character called Raj Singh. They eventually told me his entire story arc so I ended up not reading it.
Didnt soviet union have a chemical weapon leak in the 80s of anthrax then blame it on cow meat? Wouldnt put it past China to do same and blame it on bat stew… jus sayin😕
I cannot stress enough how problematic this aspect is. I invite anyone who thinks this pandemic has been handled well to look into the frequency and variety of warnings the Trump administration got. Every year, from even before his inauguration, he and his government had been reminded of the commonly-held view that a flu-like pandemic was a matter of when, not if.
This is public information. None of the China-bashing and WHO-shaming should cover the failures.
Speaking of ignoring experts, the EPA has quietly changed (is trying to change) how toxic waste from power plants is evaluated. During a freaking pandemic.
God I hope this works. I’m not confident it will but, if it does, Oxford will be able to take a well deserved bow.
To be fair, most all politicians are given these warnings. The yearly warnings and even scenario gaming go back to GWB at least. Pandemics just don’t operate on a re-election timespan so they are easy to ignore.
I’m not as worried about those (since most politicians would have ignored them, and unfortunately we have a long history of doing so) as the ones after things started up in December.

Looks like we may all just be going Sweden, chaps. It’s been a pleasure shitposting with you all.

That’s the problem, isn’t it? That so many leaders were dismissive, despite the constant call for readiness. It takes a special kind of resistance to objective reality to not only cut programs designed to combat this sort of problem, but also dismiss the problem when it arises.
My mate’s robot made it to Time magazine!
Now, who wants to offer an over under on someone attempting to shove it up their ass to cure their COVID?

Not real, but fuck is it funny.
Cures COVID as well? That’s just an unnecessary bonus but we’ll take it.
I’d like to say I agree, and philosophically I absolutely do. Unfortunately, politicians are universally self-motivated for staying in power and very prone to de-prioritize anything that isn’t in their mandate when push comes to shove. Most particularly when that thing is both unlikely to happen on their watch and significantly less visceral in nature than say, a terrorist attack on a major population center (and we still have the memory of the last one). Trump is not unique in this regard. I think this pandemic is exposing holes in administrations all across the world.
This is my big issue. By far. But make no mistake, the failings go farther down (even if they’re not as… deliberate…as those up at the top)
