I understand there are 62 (!) potential vaccines in various stages of development throughout the world.
As much as I feel like it would give you an eternal leg up on this forum I’m fine saying I don’t mind if you guys win this race or anyone else.

This dude’s dumb. I don’t get why people think no one’s going back to work. My dad’s a mason and often has to file unemployment in the winter due to being literally unable to work…they are always ready to stop it the second the weather clears. I’ve never known of anyone who filed and then just received it for however long they chose.
And for the many many many people struggling to get by, this temporary extra could allow them to possibly catch up on some things or prepare for the future. Obviously most will not use it to make smart financial preparations but like Z says:

Just talked a relative who works in the field and is tangentially involved - according to her Ze Germans will likely beat you Brits in the race for the vaccine.
She’s referring to one of the two vaccine projects Ursula of the EU mentioned today.
EU/UK bickering aside, I think that the mere fact that we’re discussing vaccines and potential rollout dates is phenomenal…
