Cooking veggies!

Farnsworth yes i get mad itching from eating raw veggies and fruit :frowning:
Even raw lettuce can cause that

As for cooking, what about those steam pouches u can get which you put in the microawve and steam for 2 minutes? The packaging says it retains all the vitamins so i’m guessing it’s ok

Raw is best guys! Your allergic reaction may be due to what has been put on the vegetables. Pesticides etc.

Make sure the vegetables are completely cleaned prior to consumption. And organic is always best!

As for taste, try any of your favorite salad dressings as a dip. Don’t go crazy with the dip, just a dab or two for flavor.

i’m sorry but there are very few raw veggies i think i can stomach
Lets face it
i know lots of people who eat cooked veggies, are lean and muscular and many who are well into their life… can’t be evil as people make out
i think people worry WAY TOO MUCH if you ask me

Are raw vegetables hard to eat?

I find them delicious. However,I will say this: “Everything is difficult before it is easy”.

to Zeb:
I get most of my veggies at the local health food store; the guy there takes his vegetables’ purity very seriously. Like Dark, I don’t really sweat it. But I do enjoy the texture raw veggies can add to food.

what veggies in particular tdo u eat raw?

I think i’d only be able to stomach raw carrots, spinach, cellery and pepper lol

Organic isn’t always best. Not that I want to put huge amounts of weird chemicals in my body, but some of the non-organic treatments food receive are important for killing bad bacteria and fungi on food.

Take, for instance, the huge recall on organic cornmeal in the UK. Check out this article from Tech Central Station on the recall:

I don’t mind not cooking the veggies, but something has to be done to clean them and kill the things you don’t wish to consume.

I eat about a bag of frozen veggies per day. I find it hard to believe that any of the nutrients are taken out by using the microwave. All it is doing is speeding up the water molecules??? Right???

However, I will start using a glass container over the plastic! YIKES!

BostonBarrister,

Filling a spray bottle with vinegar and misting your veggies and then rinsing with filtered water does that job wonderfully. I use it to clean the chicken shit off eggs, too. No need for synthetic chemicals to clean.

Supposedly the veggies you should eat lightly steamed are cruciferous ones like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. Spinach is also on the list, but I forget why.

Tony G,

Check out this Mercola article and see what you think:

At a certain tempeture you lose 90% of the enzymes. Matters not whether it is microwaved or cooked in a more traditional manner.

With that stated, better you eat your vegetables cooked than not at all. Personally, I always like to “maximize my situation”. This simply means that I want to draw the most benefit from whatever situation I find myself in. Relative to the research that I did, eating raw vegetables is better for you than eating them cooked.

If I am going to be eating 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, which is the maximum amount that you need to ward off a host of serious health disorders. Why not get the most from each serving by eating them raw?

If it helps, compare it to the first time you did an exercise that felt awkward. Perhaps squatting for some. You stuck with it and in no time you not only became good at it, but liked it as well!

I don’t know ZEB!! Thats a pretty strong statement…squats are fun??? Yeah, maybe is “Bizarro World”…haha.

Tony,

When I first started squatting I would have agreed with you. After a few years I started to come to terms with them. After several more years I actually started to look forward to squat day.

Maybe it’s just the results that I love. Either way if the results are there can you not learn to love something be it raw vegetables or squats?

Another alternative for people on the go is to drink V8. I know it’s in a can and probably contains preservatives, but better some veggies than none.
