Cooking Destroys Protein Powder?

I want to try out a few recipes for homemade protein bars and muffins, all of them using protein powder.

Does baking a protein powder denature or destroy it?

Or should I not worry about it?

i wouldn’t worry about it. the protein powder has already gone through a processing level that has probaly denatured it somewhat already.

i make protein bars & muffins, & cakes with my protein powder all the time.

by the way, i found that protein powder that has micellar casein bakes up much better than without…

It will only denature the protein, think cooking liquid eggs makes them solid. This is due the the protein strans being denatured. Cook with your protein powder without concern.

I’ve never quite understood the hesitancy of cooking with protein powder. Hard boiled eggs still have protein. Chicken fried steak still has protein. Adding protein powder to pancake batter is one of the most common “bodybuilder” recipes around. Don’t stress too much.

OK, I’ll cook with protein powder and not stress about it. Thanks

Anybody have some good low-carb recipes using Metabollic Drive?

Pumpkin Protein Pie (my own concoction):
1 can Pure pumpkin
2.5 scoops Metabolic Drive Low-Carb
1/4c milk (optional)
pumpkin pie spice to taste
1/2c. walnuts

Crush walnuts, rub small amount butter on inside of bread pan. Put crushed walnuts on butter, making the crust.

Mix protein powder, pumpkin, and milk in bowl (milk makes it a little flufier, no milk, more like a brownie in texture).

Pour mixture into walnut crust. Bake at 350 until a toothpick comes out clean (about an hour).

I made this and doubled the amounts.

Makes 2.5 servings-each serving (without milk):
28g Protein, 16g Carbs (7 are fiber), 20g fat. (ok it isn’t super low carb, but pretty good)

Sounds great. Thanks PozzSka.
