Cooked or Raw Oats in a Shake?

if im putting them in a shake, i dont need to pre cook/boil them do i?

If I put them in a shake, I just blend them into a fine powder first. I don’t think it makes alot of difference nutrient wise, but I’m no expert.

I put them in my shake the night before, this gives them time to soften and absorb some liquid, goes down much better.

I just blend them dry, no need to cook them.

Up to you, if you don’t boil and just blend up its somewhat grainy. If you do boil you will get less of that so pick whichever.

x3

step 1 - put milk/water in blender
step 2 - put in oats straight from container
step 3 - put protein powder, PB, ice, fruit, whatever
step 4 - BLEND

Raw oats will have a bigger impact on insulin. How much bigger? Dont know. Dont care. It cant be important enough to worry about when bulking. Carry on.

And if you put the oats in the blender first and hit the button a few times to grind them up theyll be finer than if you put the milk in then the oats then blended.

thanks guys, just checking that the nutrients arent bio-available unless theyre boiled for… etc

I agree it isn’t important enough to worry about if you are bulking. As far as when to put in raw, I think it comes down to personal preference. I like both ways but prefer putting them in after liquid. However putting them in before and grinding them up does make it finer. That works well for when I want to make oat flour.

im not bulking at the mo, im following CTs carb cycling and it means im ingesting alot more carbs than before (dont ask - i was being stupid). but chucking them in a bleder with water and protein powder is real easy and pallteable (sp?),

I turn mine into a fine powder first in my blender then at all the other ingredients.

I let my oats soak in water and whey overnight, then I stick in a blender in the morning and that’s pretty much it.

Use a coffee grinder to get them into a powder, then dump in your shaker bottle.
