I don’t know if this has been formally recognized on the Forums or not…
But JB’s dissertation has been completed, defended, submitted and accepted… which means that it’s now officially Dr. JB. !
Congratulations to John!
He has his share of detractors, that’s for sure…
However, whether of not you agree with him or not, I don’t think that there has been another person in our small community who has stimulated more critical thought on diet and nutrition than John…
Congratulations. That’s a phenomenal accomplishment and based upon the Ph.D dissertations I’ve seen from the professors I work for I can’t imagine how much work went into it.
JB got his PhD? Wow, it goes to show that they’ll just give those things out to anyone.
I want to include a pic or two of the good doctor in an upcoming article we’re co-authoring, and I’ll see if he’ll let me throw in a pic of his new tat. It reads: “Trust me ladies, I’m a Doctor”.
Way to go JB! Now all we have to do is have Dr.Berardi and Dr.Lowery engage in a death match for T-Nation’s doctoral monopoly…that or they could continue writing the best damn nutritional articles in the world!
Wow, yes, a much deserved congratulations and thank you. The determination, motivation and perserverance that he’s putting into his life should inspire us all.
Thanks to all of your for the support and congratulations!
The T-nation has been a great source of encouragement, support, and learning during my long road down the PhD path.
For those of you curious, my dissertation examined the effects of macronutrient type and timing on recovery from cycling time trialing - we measured muscle glycogen status, fat and carb oxidation, markers of damage, hormonal markers, and the best marker of recovery of all - repeated performance. The data should be published mid 2005 and I may even throw them up on my site once they are accepted.
