Confusing T Levels

See above!

dude shut up already… I guess cholesterol isn’t a factor eh? or ast and alt? or triglycerides? The body is not so small as these 4 blood tests all they will tell you is if something is wrong and not why… People are trying to figure out why something may be wrong… You come here and run your mouth but yet ask for advice… tuna told you to not do clomid as did I… Hows your E2? If you’re bored go play a sport… bugger off…[/quote]

They’re factors just not common factors. A liver issue is usually not the problem when it comes to low T. It can be but should be checked afterward. Not everyone has insurance that covers every test in the book nor doctors that are willing to check everything. A CBC should have been done anyway. Also the Clomid is doing very well read my post since you replied in my thread anyway!

ok so i got my full blood work. First number is mine second is ranges
Cholesterol total 155 (125-200mg/dl)
HDL cholesterol 32 (>=40mg/dl)
cholesterol/HDL ratio 4.8 (<=5.0)
LDL CHOL, calculated 58 (<130mg/dl)
Triglycerides 323 (<150mg/dl)
non HDL cholesterol 123
TSH 1.13 (0.40-4.50mIU/L)
T4,total 7.0 (4.5-12.0 mcg/dl)
T3 uptake 31 (22-35 percent)
T4, free, calculated 2.2 (1.4-3.8 unit)
T3 total 77 (76-181ng/dl)
MPV 7.3 (7.5-11.5 fl)
Total test 189 (250-1100ng/dl)
Free test 45.2 (35.0-155.0pg/ml)
Then i went back and he did these tests.
ESR ,westergren 1 (0-15mm/hr)
LH 4.8 (1.5-9.3mIU/mL)
FSH 6.3 (1.6-8.0mIU/mL)
Prolactin 5.9 (2.0-18.0ng/ml)
Vitamin b12,serum 550 (200-1100pg/ml)
Folate, serum 18.4 (>5.4ng/ml)

So he did FSH and LH on another occasion without testing T?

Your output is upper midrange seems like primarism. Would be nice if he can test T,LH, FSH, and E2 at the sametime.

Things that can affect conversion of T.
Check vit D
Also need to check dhea-s.
B-12 should not be under 700.
cholesterol under 160 is bad, but your triglycerides are high and HDL low. That needs to be corrected.
Verify temps as indicated in thyroid sticky.

If my lh and fsh are fine. Why is my total so low and my free on the low range? I have to wait till June 5 to see a endocrinologist so I’m hoping to get some answers before then

Typically in primary hypogonadism the FSH and LH will be high and T low.

In your case it appears you have at least some degree of primary hypogonadism, since LH and FSH are higher than most and your T came back low. They should have retested T with the new LH and FSH labs, to get a better idea what’s going on. I explained more things you can do in the previous post.

So there’s now way to find another doc sooner?

You can try addressing the issues I mentioned and check if T improves if you want to avoid TRT.
Another diagnostic is HCG monotherapy to verify primary or secondary.

Ok so I went to a endocrinologist and got all new blood work here are my results.
Total test 375ng/dl 250-1100
Free test 91.5pg/ml 35.0-155.0
Testosterone 408ng/dl 280-800
PSA-diagnostic 0.57ng/ml <2.5
Sex hormone bnd glob 20nmoles/l 7-50
Fsh 6.70mIU/ml 0.7-11.1
Vit D 19.4ng/ml 30-100(gave me a prescription for vit d pills)
Prolactin 21.3ng/ml 4.10-15.1(Im getting this rechecked since its a bit high)
Estradiol 18pg/ml 9.0-44
Cortisol 20.0ug/dl 5.0-25.00

She says everything is in range so everything is ok. what do you guys think. Because if everything really is fine then I just have depression which I really don’t want it to come down to that. thank you

Ok I think you need to listen to just one person so I backed off of this thread.

As I said before… As it says in the stickies and in many case threads

You need more labs… If you want to really know what’s going on check everything

I don’t see any liver markers ( ast, alt)

Check the adrenals cortisol, ACTH, c peptide, insulin, glucose. Should be done fasting and at 8:00 am

DheA

Do a CBC

Check the thyroid: ft3 ft4 tsh and tpo, tgab for hashimotos and rt3

Check vit d b12

Bud if you read between the lines all the answers your looking for are there. Good luck and don’t listen to receptors dumb ass. Ksman or tuna will not lead you wrong. Even with what your told though you still have to do your own research and deside what is best for you!! Good luck

That prolactin score is a bit concerning. Load up on the d3 ur way to low. Look up prolactinoma . Also you had two labs that were low and one the was low normal. Range don’t mean shit. Doctors are stuck on this. What time did you do these labs and did you fast.

Just a suggestion but I might go to a naturopath and get a 4 point cortisol tests. Stress is a bitch bud

Low vitamin D will make you stressed and feel unwell. How much are you going to take per day?

The first test I took were kinda late like 3pm the last test I just posted was fasting and at 8:30am. My prolactin was ok the first test, but this time it is pretty high. The vit D I’m getting is 50000 and I take it once at week for a month.

No one has checked your liver through all this?

No they did my thyroid the first time and everything was ok so they didn’t again. I been on a great diet and added cardio into my lifting. If there anything I can take to naturally increase my test. I heard avacodo raises which I eat and I seen products like tribulus can increase but read its all bullshit. Idk I’ve done so much research about everything regarding my problem and telling my docs which test to take and every time there just saying everything’s ok. Low t and depression have the same symthoms, that’s why I was hoping it was low t bc depression is so frowned Uponed in our society. I’m just Fcking lost

Dude if you get your vitamin d up to a reasonable level ur gonna feel better.

Have u ever heard of the winter blues?

Vit d is vital believe it or not.

People might tell you different but look up bit d and testosterone. It does play a part if not directly then indirectly.

Try maca if you want. Homeopathic a use it to balance hormones.

Keep it together my brother and try meditation or some yoga classes or go see a naturopath. Do a 4 point cortisol test. It is the only real way to measure cortisol. Again relax and breathe and tell them to fuck off with the antidepressants unless u feel like ur going to kill yourself then u might see a counsellor and consider it but I don’t thin your there. I think you worry a lot. Stress can lower t levels. Do something about it. You can do it

Just to let you know I personally saw my total T raise with trib. I don’t know for sure if it was actually the trib but I saw my numbers go up from like 500 to 700 and my free t come above range. Take it for what it’s worth but its the truth

Thanks alot for all your replies I’m deft doing to look into all of those and trib.

No problem. I saw cortisol on the high end so I thought stress is playing a role. This is the first thing I found.http://www.ehow.com/facts_6157873_do-cortisol-testosterone-common_.html#page=4
