Confusing T Levels

i have all the symptoms of low t and im 23 years old. i lift and do cardio twice a day and have a great diet. i just got my levels back and they were free 45.2 and total 189. im trying to compare these online but all im seeing is normal for my age is 300 free and 1000 total but these are really high. could they have measured mine in pg/ml if so are my levels low? thank you

Need you to post a complete copy of all your labs and read all the stickies.

i only got the results over the phone i am going to call the doctor again tomorrow but i want to know what im talking about before i talk to him, you have any info about my problem?

TUNA!! Dude the problem is bigger then you’re going to learn in one night… but to start read all the stickies at the top of the page…

i just want to know about if my results are in normal range

without lab ranges i wouldn’t know. I would say no 189 is not in range…

i know the total was deff low because she said total didnt matter because free was ok. is this true?

ok i went to the lab website and i found the ranges

can anyone look at that please, this is driving me crazy

Your free is probably low normal and your total is low. You have some sort of issue going on. next step is to test LH/FSH as well as free T3 and T4 and Estradiol.

I have my doctors appointment at 3 but I know he doesn’t know alot about hormones. Now I know to get those test done thank you

What scares me is that lab groups 18-69 year olds and that there just going to say its normal like my doc

It will be a struggle most likely but you need to demand it. A 69yr old’s T level shouldn’t be the same as someone your age. Say you aren’t leaving till they order these tests.

Ok first off you do need a full hormone panel. also you will need more labs then receptor has told you… No your total T shouldn’t be Low… READ THE STICKIES… A lot of things could be going on here and not something one can figure out with 4 blood tests… order the blood work yourself… Vitamins and Supplements Rooted in Science - Life Extension

You guys feel it is necessary to test every little thing in the book when it isn’t. LH, FSH, Free T4, T3 and Estradiol is enough to give a picture on what is happening with his testosterone and perhaps why he has stubborn fat. If every thing is fine, then perhaps investigating further into dhea, cortisol, etc…but he will have a difficult enough time getting basic blood work done!

dude shut up already… I guess cholesterol isn’t a factor eh? or ast and alt? or triglycerides? The body is not so small as these 4 blood tests all they will tell you is if something is wrong and not why… People are trying to figure out why something may be wrong… You come here and run your mouth but yet ask for advice… tuna told you to not do clomid as did I… Hows your E2? If you’re bored go play a sport… bugger off…

lift/Cardio twice a day, maybe overtraining. I think even while feeling crappy now, u need to take a break from training for a few weeks and restart slowly. cortisol/dhea test could be handy?

About FT: In normal men [not on TRT]:

LH is release in pulses which leads to changing levels of FT.
FT has a short half life in blood [serum] and it combines with albumin and SHBG.
TT is FT+[T+SHBG]+[T+albumin]
TT levels are more steady and are the best indicator of overall T status, FT is not.
FT can be in range and be below range in the same day.
Bio-T, FT and T+albumin is steadier that FT.
So for normal men, FT can be informative, but not a clear diagnostic item.

The advice for new guys sticky defines TT, FT etc.

So i just came back from the doctor i made him take more blood work. since quest diagnostics says ages 18-69 should have a range of 30-155 free test that since mine was 45.2 i was good. my total test was 189 which he agrees is low but says total test doesnt matter as long as my free were good.
