Its only 7 dollars for a matinee. Damn you and your cheapness.
No, its not that I’m cheap I just refuse to pay for crap. $7 Matinee + wife + popcorn+ candy + soda = $35 for a lost 2 hrs and I just supported a crappy movie.
I knew this movie wasn’t going to be theater worthy (Momosa’s never carried a movie has he?). I’m sorry Wol but I’m right about 95% of the time. The other 5 is due to 3rd party negligence lol
Wait a second, you actually buy all that crap at a movie theater? Fuck I always just walk in with a water in my hand and some food in my pocket.

Exactly!
I got in trouble once for bringing in MAG-10 with me. They had to check the bottle to make sure it wasnt alcohol.

LOLz. I walk in with my back pack on and they don’t say shit. Maybe carrying a motorcycle helmet helps though.

I have to wait to see this one unfortunately. Think it’ll be out on BR by X-mas?
I repeat: the first 20 minutes had more violence and killing then the first Lord of the Rings movie.
See Conan and watch a man spill blood.
OK, just to make sure I understand you correctly: you are recommending watching only the first 20 min of the new Conan movie, THEN leaving the theater, going home, and immediately watching the first LotR movie?

No, I’m saying that the first 20 minutes ALONE are better than the first LoTR movie in terms of battle scenes. I’m complimenting Conan the Barbarian and talking shit about lame ass LoTR.
Conan the Barbarian: 1 hour and 45 minutes of ass kicking! In theaters now!
Looking forward to seeing it, I got next saturday off so I’ll be there.

On that note, I can’t wait to start learning how to ride. My gym owner is in a MC and he’s always bustin’ my balls about how I “look like a biker” and should ride with him.
Off tomorrow, doing Fright Night & Conan, Fucker of Bitches.
Haters, keep that hate train a-rollin’!
Without reading any of the other posts yet…
Pretty much what I expected: Typical Hollywood, brainless, CGI-saturated nonsense without any hint of character, poetry or epic storytelling (or even coherent storytelling). The music was awful too. Jason Momoa was about the only thing they got right.
Crom is disappoint.
Ok, I feel like I should qualify my previous comment. As a huge fan of the first film and the original stories, my expectations were such that it was very unlikely that I would enjoy this film. If all you’re after is an action film where Conan runs around and kills heaps of shit, go see it. You’ll probably like it. I didn’t.

What else would the movie be about?
That is like saying the previous one was just some guy with an accent with only 2 lines in the whole movie killing people.
Uh, yeah…he’s a fucking barbarian.

You said “then” instead of “than” in your other message. That’s the origin of his joke post.
I want to go watch it but those reviews…
Conan the Barbarian is my favourite movie, Conan is my favourite fictional character…and I’d dislike to watch something of it that I’d dislike. Yes, I like Conan the Destroyer too, mostly for the nostalgia factor.
I just got Conan the Destroyer on DVD for 6 bucks and it was quite nice to see it again. I watched it on what I guess we used to call pay TV back in 1985.
Excluding the fight against Dagoth and Toth-Amon being a random idiot in a crystal palace, the movie itself is quite entertaining.
I love this commercial :

The first movie had a lot more going on than people give it credit for. Probably because it was a work of passion for John Milius, rather than just a paycheck for the director and studio. Its subtlety takes multiple viewings to reveal itself. That’s why it’s easily my favourite of the three, even though it deviates from the source material. I actually believe it’s one of the finest crafted films I’ve ever seen, but then, I’m a geek.
Yeah he’s a barbarian, but he’s also highly intelligent. The ReH version has him written as someone who (paraphrasing) ‘speaks so many tongues that most scholars would be astounded’. I think the first film probably captured that aspect the best (oh man… this is gonna start some shit, haha!).
Anyway, this thread is about the new Conan, so I’ll let people get back to that.
I saw The Destroyer before the Barbarian, and although I do like Barbarian more, I still enjoy Destroyer.
Since then I’ve wanted to be jacked and have long hair.

Check the shirt.
That’s a great shirt.

I know what you mean like the scene where he is “given” a woman he was reading a scroll in his cell. Most people don’t see he is reading they just see him ragdolling some little woman, can you blame him you give a lion a steak and get mad when he eats it
