I got a brand new computer about 6-8months ago, it used to be super fast
and start up instantly. Now for some reason it takes quite a while and it a lot slower, but still pretty fast. I run my AntiVirus’s and what not but it doesnt catch anything. Are there any sites that would help me fix/see whats wrong with my computer?
Second problem being I accidently uninstalled something last night “sonic”, i believe it was a driver or something or that sort and now whenever try to scroll down on the internet its all choppy, not serious but very annoying, how can I fix this?

Thank you for all help, i suck with computers :(
You can try these sites for viruses, spyware and trojans. It really sounds like you are loaded with spyware. I have fixed people’s computers that were so full of spyware that once the computer got into Windows it would grind to a halt and you couldn’t do anything.
Also, download Ad-Aware by Lavasoft if you haven’t already. It’s a free spyware program.
Your second problem sounds like you uninstalled a video driver or something. Find out what kind’ve video card you have, go to the manufacturer’s website and download the newest driver for it. That would be my first thought.
What antivirus program are you running? If it’s Norton or McAffe, they tend to miss an awful lot of things. There’s a free program that’s much better and takes less system resources called Avast! It’ll show up first on google.
does your harddrive make any wierd noise? Is it at all near full?
Are things magically “breaking?” or not working anymore? Because if so your harddrive may be dying.
I usually have this as an issue about every year or so. Make sure you backup your important files because I tend to have badluck.
If nothing else solves your problem, you may be due to format, which in lamens terms is , deleting absolutely everything and then reinstalling. Only do this if you have things backed up and you have your windows installation CD. if you decide to format, please ask or read about it, you don’t just right click on everything and hit “delete”.
Have you defragged your hard drive lately? How many programs are loading at startup? Either of these can change over time and eventually slow your computer down.
The second issue sounds like the refresh rate for your monitor was changed, possibly if you deleted a driver as someone else said. Try increasing the refresh rate.

You can also run msconfig and remove any items you don’t need on the Start Up screen.
And chances are, you don’t need anything in there. Also check the “Startup” menu in the Start menu, and anything left in the notification area of the taskbar after you take care of the others (right click each item to see if you can and should disable them).
Ran the AV link, no viruses.
Ran the Trojan Link, caught a few trojans and some malware
I haven’t defragged my comp since I got it, im working on that right now
Where can I change my refresh rate?
I was also debating doing a system restore, should I?
One last thing, does anyone have a link 2 any Worm detecters or something, i have constant pop ups that “norten has detected a worm trying to acess ur computer”
download and update adaware. reboot and restart in safe mode. run adaware. You may have to after running this and removing the threat turn off system restore and run it again. Run adaware in safe mode first.
I would also download and run spyware blaster and spybot search and destroy.
The slowness is probably natural. Shit just slows down after a time, it happens.
The chopiness is usually from an un-updated graphics driver. You need to go download the driver for your video card, which can probably be founf on the website of the company you bought the computer from.
