Compulsive Overeating Disorder

Thanks for all the responses by the way. This was exactly why I wanted to post about it. For over a year, I’ve been allowing myself to continue this vicious cycle, and hearing all of your opinions gives new perspective on the issue. After so long, it becomes psychologically draining. There have been many valid points, and I wonder if it’s similar to a former fat boy syndrome, where I fear eating too much, which keeps my in a constantly deprived state. This all started after I became passionate about working out, which has possibly turned into an obsession, although i’m thankful to be obsessed with working out than something with terribly negative consequences.

And no X, I’m not in need of Men’s Health. T-Nation is where I’d prefer to learn

Why is your name WannabeBigBoy? I am confused?

Edit: Damn it Spartiates, Your post wasn’t there when I hit “Submit” I’m calling it a tie.

Well, yes. If you’re trying to lose weight, going low carb, you are bound to have some wild cravings. I’m droping weight for 3rd month now, and let’s just say: epic cravings are epic.

But it’s all about will power. In 2 full months I had 2 cheat days, one only had a bit of chocolate (actually a lot) and last friday I had an all out binge, 2500 cals just from this heavenly tasting cereals. If you do slip, just continue with the diet the next day, in the grand scheme of things, that one day won’t make a difference, those 364 WILL.

Also, if you’re fat from little age (like me), cravings are worse because you’re pretty much addicted to the bad stuff. Again, just willpower.

Haha, Touche

I found this website back when I was driven by gaining muscle and lifting big. Things have changed over time.

Back When? A year and a half ago counts as “Back When”? Come on Dood.

Closer to 3 years actually, just never joined. Drastic changes can occur over short amounts of time. Changing my goals shouldn’t be hard to believe…

Your join date is when you joined, it’s when you pick your name. Not when you found out about the site. So Sep 08 you were in “get big mode” and in a year and a half, you are now in, Stay tiny and have abs mode. P.S. I’m only 200Lbs, and I still havent found one athletic endeavor that I couldn’t use another 20 lbs of muscle for and be better at it. When you get to be over 200 Lbs THEN you should start to evaluate if you are as big as you want to be. Most likloey you will find as I have you can almost always use another 20 Lbs of muscle. Unless you are like 5’4", then nevermind.

This. My wife eats more than you on a daily basis.

you are hungry

Man, you are 22 and have an appetite.

Chill the fuck out.

Too many people in this world want something to be wrong with them to explain how they behave when there is absolutely nothing actually wrong.

You are one of them.

This kid has issues with food. If someone is eating a shit ton of garbage in one sitting “just because” ,they are having some issues.
I could understand if he went to workout and then stuffed his face with a huge steak, potatoes, rice or even a huge burger and called it a meal but he is binging on A LOT of carbs and sugary foods which is what he is trying to RESTRICT from his diet.

OP I tried giving you advice so I’ll say it again, feel free to ignore it since at the end of the day it’s your life not mine:

Stop being so obsess with food, eat when you are hungry(make sure you eat some protein, some carbs, some fats) and don’t stress if you are craving ice cream or something, little by little you will eat that ice cream and then be like okay I can have more tomorrow if I feel like it(even if you don’t have any the next day). It’s going to take time but the sooner you stop running in circles the sooner you can move on. Make sure you are busting your ass at the gym, too.

I put money on it you’re not eating enough protein every day and have lots of simple carbs stocked up. So that’s the first thing you prob grab.

What’s your diet like. You eating beef, drinking protein shakes, eating eggs, fish, chicken and any other dead animals everyday for a few of your meals?

I appreciate your advice, and I already started following it. The root of the issue very well could be obsessing over “healthy eating” when in reality, that slice of bread won’t kill me. I’ll update how things go over time taking this approach to eating.

Thanks again.

I eat loads of protein everyday. Salmon, greek yogurt, around 75 grams from from shakes, some form of chicken/beef for dinner, eggs. Certainly not a defficiency of protein.

Ahh okay, very good then. Hope everything improves and you can move on soon.

I would kill to have a crazy appetite.

My food intake is borderline painful as it is…

I struggle to make my meal requirements on several days a week, granted they are high, but somedays I can do it with ease and others its a chore.

I love caffeine pre-workout but it simply obliterates my appetite, Im very sensitive to stims it seems.

A. Having “issues” is for fucking girls. Is he a girl? No. Therefore he does not have issues. Here is an “issue”- Both of you seem to speak with the same estrogen laced speech pattern.

My post was a way of saying there is nothing wrong with you, but I don’t speak pussy, so you didn’t understand it.

B. Define “shit ton”, or at least clarify it. In the context of it’s use here, it seems that “shit ton” is what I use to sop up the juice from a steak.

C. Don’t ever quote one of my post to corect what you simply don’t understand because you, like the O.P., suffer from undescended testicles, and wouldn’t know an actual problem if it kicked you in the face and banged your boyfriend.

Now go fuck yourself to some Madonna.

LOL hahaha you are so alpha dude!!! See you around “macho man”.

I do something similar with meat. But that shit ends pretty quickly due to how heavy meat sits in the stomach.

You weigh 157 and you think you have compulsive eating disorder? No, sweetie you don’t. I’ve known people with compulsive eating disorder and it’s a horrible thing. People who suffer from this disorder will eat out of trash cans if they have to. They will eat until their body rejects food and then when they’re done vomiting, they eat more.

If you had this disorder, you would be overweight. It doesn’t go dormant for several months and then hit you for one binge. It sounds like you are starving yourself until your body just starts screaming for food and then you go a little apeshit.[/quote]

I will chime in here since I have significant personal experience in the matter.

Weight is not a factor in diagnosing whether someone has an eating disorder; the point at which it becomes a disorder is where the subject loses control (check) and it negatively affects their life (check).

Eating disorders, whether anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating disorder, stem from psychological issues. Underlying issues which need to be addressed and resolved. The subject uses the eating disorder as a coping mechanism for dealing with underlying emotions.

OP, if suspect you may have an eating disorder, the diagnosis and any help you need is not going to come from an online message board. There is plenty of information available online. Preferably, you should seek professional help - at least to determine if what you have is an eating disorder, or something else. Good luck.

PM me if you have any questions, I can recommend books and sites on the topic.
