Comparitive Morality

This is what I was getting at - or I was going to until Brock distracted me. “Liberal”, on the forum, and I guess in a wider social context, is being used as an synonym for moral/social decay irrespective of its actual meaning. As with anything, labels are largely meaningless,I was just getting a little sick of seeing it used as an epithet.

Oh Brock, who am I to gainsay your right to bear arms? My guess is that your founding fathers brought that in when they realised all the trouble that pesky free speech thing in the first ammendment would cause. Basically: “I can say what I want cuz I got a gun”.

As for that Heston chap - he’s yours, keep him,
can’t act and independent thought hasn’t been detected lately, but he drives a mean chariot and has a square jaw and steely-eyed stare, so I guess that’s OK. Jaws and Stares are important to you Brooks Bothers wearing conservatives I understand.

Stand strong you bastion of moral rectitude you

Has iscariot caught on that brock is not taking him serious?

Heston is awesome. How dare you, how dare
you castigate the man who played Moses? Next
you’ll say Yul Brenner sucks because he is
bald. And I don’t wear Brooks Bros (but I do
like the Blues Bros…and I especially
love dry toast). I just bought a suit and
it isn’t even blue, it is a taupe with
black check in 120 weight made by Bijon
(look it up). Do you even own a suit you
tree hugging hippie freak? Brock

let me preface my statements by saying, i am a registered independent, and not by any means a fan of nixon, ford, regan,or bush, etc. but i’ve come to resent a lot of the liberals out there and i’ll tell you why, “liberals” like the clinton’s and al gore give you the whole rap about how they want to help for the poor and middle class, clean up the enviorment, etc, and about how the republicans don’t give a damn about the poor and want to give the rich tax breaks, etc… we’ll 99% of the liberal leadership i’ve seen is completely hypocritical, and i’ve come to the conclusion that there is very little difference liberal and conservative, because its the same damn people running the country no matter who is in office…if the libs are serious about helping the poor and middle class, why don’t they do something about the federal reserve that runs our country and controls the economy?, why don’t they get rid of greenspan?,why don’t they do something about the central banking system? why don’t they crack down on all the money laundering that the multinational corporations get away with?, why don’t they eliminate the multinational corporations tax breaks so they don’t take their business and jobs to another country and hurt our economy so much?why don’t they crack down on all the manipulations and games that wall street plays with the stock market?, why don’t they take a closer look at this “global economy”, and see it for what it is, not good…its not impossible to fix the economy,… for a long time the perception existed that the liberals are somehow better than the conservatives, but they don’t address any of those issues i talked about and nothing gets done, fact of the matter is that the liberalism talked about today is nothing like kennedy white house liberalism from the early 60s, its just a big fucking sham and a lotta lip service…i challenge anyone to prove otherwise

lets take a look at what liberals do that i really care about. how about spread myths. dont eat too much protein or red meat youll have kidney problems. AAS are bad for you we cant let you take it we’re going to instead let you drink our bong water. im so tired of this taboo in america stuff all i gotta say is i want my guns i want the right to take into my body USEFUL present illegals, and i want to be able to kill a cow without beiong called a monster cause does it look like theyre going the way of the buffalo bastards like you are responsiable for the dairy decline and we know what balances the stock market thats right farming no farming no economy. what happened to the intelligent elect now we cant even fill out a damn ballot god help us all.

Hahahaha… uh, Brock, is the secret ingrediant(sp) in Euphoria cracked pepper, or am I only half right?

Can’t say, Bronx, but if I did, my fellow
right winger gov’t agents, wearing navy
blue “Brooks Bros” suits, cheap mirrored
sunglasses with an ear piece, would swoop
down from the sky in black helicopters and
wisk you away to some secret right wing
“re-education” center (oh, wait, that is
a leftist euphemism)…to a prison that
doesn’t exist where I would conduct experiments
on you using stuff in Biotest’s pipeline.
Yep, Biotest is really just a front for a
top secret gov’t agency to take over the
sports supplement world.

Oh, wait! I wrote that a second ago and they
are already here for me. Please hel

How dare I castigate the man who played Moses? Wanna guess where he pulled those stone tablets from? And AFAIK anyone who takes instructions from a cloud at the top if a mountain is pretty suspect.

Yul Brynner is fine, he was in the Magnificent Seven. I guess, however, you prefer his dancing from the The King and I, but that’s OK Brock, even conservatives have to learn to dance somewhere.

Do I own a suit? That’s one of those anti-individulaity devices conservatives wear to hide a lack of personality isn’t it? Actually when I hug trees I hug them nekkid, I mean isn’t the whole T-Man thing about looking good nekkid?? But yep, I have several suits, I use them to impersonate the faceless masses when I go undercover…

Oh - and Bronx - do I know that Brock isn’t taking this seriously? Well d’uh…

Bryon, while I agree about the Central banking fiasco, a “global economy” (and by this I mean trade, nothing else) is a good thing. Jobs moving to other countries is not bad for the economy domestically, it is good. It just means less wasted labour and cheaper products. While large corporations are in bed with the government, the solution is simply less government, not “the government doing something about multinationals” which is the root of the problem in the first place.

iscariot:

You think with Brock being a Jew and with you having the name iscariot that he would like you much more.

To everyone on this thread:

Anyhow it is so fun to see how people force their views on people merely because they think they are right. Why not try and understand the other person’s viewpoint first? Maybe you might learn something in the process. Oh yeah I forgot everyone has their blinders on.

Keago

hey, we’ve always traded with other countries, that’s a good thing, but it’s besides the point, the “new world order” one world government is not a good thing, and it goes against everything a democratic society should be, we have no say in this matter, and what we are left with is a government controlled by outside interests, namely international bankers, multinational corporations and wall street, where nothing gets done and a wealthy elite remains entrenched in power and benfits at the expense of everyone else…think of it this way, greenspan is the most powerful person in the world, been around since reagan, and we didn’t get to elect him, not very demnocratic is it?..big government? i don’t believe in big government, butI believe in effective government, that cracks down on corruption, dosen’t lie all the time, and does what is best for the country…and exactly how do corrupt multi-national corporations that money launder, use other countries as their own personal treasure chest, and hire cheap thrid world labor so the ceo can make 500 mill a year instead of 500 mill a year benefit us?

Effecive government requires government action.
Government action requires government power, and a powerful government will do whatever the hell it likes, especially grow. Jobs in third world countries are a good thing, it gives us lower prices through cheaper labour. In order for the government to “crack down on curruption” they will need money, YOUR MONEY, and if you don’t give it to them they will put you in jail. The idea that more supply and less demand (results of labour of jobs “exported” from one country instead of “imported” from foriegn locations) in a nation is good is a wrong and old economic fallicy. It’s called mercantilism and it can be shown untrue through a very simple example of Absolute or Comparitve advantage. In short, we do benefit from jobs being moved overseas, but our government can and does do many other things to hurt us.

Nkeago: My initial question was a serious one, one Brock chose to ignore the serious intent of in the interest of having fun. Well and good, but if he is going to throw rocks, why can I not? As for him disliking me or otherwise, where does that come into it, I haven’t mentioned his Judaism anymore that he has brought up my nick. I couldn’t care less whether Brock is Jewish or green with a tail. Similarly, I don’t think anyone has tried to force any view down anyone’s throat. Why assume I am liberal or anything else for that matter, or can certain people only express certain opinions. The question still stands and is a valid one - but I don’t think it is going anywhere as a debate.

your missing my point, the problem with our government, is that it is corrupt in and of itself, and is controlled by banking, big business, wall street and the federal reserve, who are the real movers and shakers and control much of what goes on…presidents and politicians come and go and serve the agendas of these people i just mentioned who remain in power…the reason nothing gets done is not a money issue, requiring more taxpayer money, its because those in office don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them and puts them in power…we don’t need to raise taxes, but to use the taxpayer money more effectively and change our government leadership…a key issue with trade is that we are taking in more than we export?, and we have been on a downward trend in recent years,my god it seems that 4 out of every 5 products on the shelves these days are from foreign countries, are the other countries buying as much of our products?, well the import/export statistics indicate we aren’t, we 1985 being the first year we had a negative trade balance …what is happening now is there is a greater concentration of wealth at the very top, as more and more people live paycheck to paycheck, which is due to a global economy which allows those at the top greater power and influence… are monopolies, less independence and less control a good thing? well, i don’t believe so.

I think you misread my post. Note only the first part was for you the rest was how everyone just doesn’t really listen and are all ready to respond without really thinking about what whoever said. I think for the most part I am agreeing with you.

Keago

I understand your point completely, it is just that you are wrong. The “balance of payments” argument is a mercantilist one, and it is just baseless. Products should be produced where they can be produced most economically, not domestically for the sake of a false BOP cow. Foreign products are made expensive through so called protectionist (although they actually hurt American consumers) measures like Tariffs and quotas. These activities enable domestic monopolies and lower your surplus as a consumer. Saying that you want a government who spends money (meaning property taken forcibly from citizens) wisely is akin to wanting to swin with a shark, just as long as it does not bite, it ain’t gonna happen cap’n. Monopoies are created solely through government intervention, be it import limiting, export stimulating (just propping up some companies at domestic consumer expense), patents, or just plain making competition illegal (post office). Cronieism aside, international trade will have the same effect on economic activity that domestic trade does, and domestic trade is what enables the US to have the highest standard of living in world history, inspite of the government.

Brock first- Man, you are writting what I am thinking… Keep it up, Big Brock Man.

iscariot- oh, man, where do I start? It made me grin when you chastized Brock for the hush puppy wearin hippy crap, and then made your own list of totally unfounded assumptions. Real intelligent. Seriously. Why can you make blanket assumptions and nobody else can?

As for Heston, i will gladly take him. He is my Prez to boot. But now that we finally got us a Good Old Boy in office, I think I have 2 Presidents… You caught the sarcasm with the Good Old Boy stuff, didnt you?

As for the Second Amendment- Do I really need to explain to you why I have the right to bear arms, along with every other American? You most likely have some bastardized view of why, which is of course totally unfounded and unsupported. Just let me know, and I will break it down for you, if Brock doesnt get to it first.

Go hug a tree, ya fruit. and take a shower while youre at it…

yes, we do live in the best country, but i argue that it can be made that much better…we, have one thing the government dosen’t have, numbers, if the people demand changes in the government changes will be made…our government is a reactionary government, and responds to opinion polls, so if enough people demand the government change, they will have no choice but to change…look at governor ventura in minnestota, people got tired of the b.s. politics as usual and made a statemnet…monopolies can be destroyed by the government, so it works both ways, take a look at what i believe is the most important monopoly, the federal reserve…in 1832 president andrew jackson, vetoed a congressional bill to extend the charter of the central bank, which ended in 1836, people responded by voting him a second term and by the end of his reign he had managed to totally eliminate the national debt, and taxes were also much lower at the time…since a new central bank was created in 1913, the federal reserve the debt has managed to rise again, unfortunately people don’t complain about this so nothing is done…another example is campaign finance reform, if enough people complain the government will eventually be forced to do something…this is historically how our government has worked

OK - let’s go through this slowly…“and then made your own list of totally unfounded assumptions. Real intelligent”…it’s called irony, if you had read my posts I merely matched the tone of Brock’s, do you really think I take such statements seriously?? As for Heston being your Prez - cool, whatever makes you happy grin. As for the Second Amendment - if you look back, you’ll note that Brock brought up the second ammendment, which as I understand it contains the right to bear arms? What I said was that it [2 Am] came into existence so that people could protect themselves from people who wanted to smite them for exercising their first ammendment right to free speech. I was giving Brock shit for mouthing off. You can bear arms if you want, I have just as much right to disagree with that. I have the right to bear arms, along with every other American? You most likely have some bastardized view of why, which is of course totally unfounded and unsupported. Just let me know, and I will break it down for you, if Brock doesnt get to it first. Go hug a tree, ya fruit. and take a shower while youre at it…
