Commercial Break

We’ve lately had posts on the last episode of Friends and favorite TV shows, but, more and more, I find myself more entertained by commercials.

As stupid as some TV ads are, I can’t help but laugh out loud when a guy says, “I sent you a picture of the syrup.”

One of the funniest I have seen recently is for some starbucks-in-a-can drink. A guy is drinking it while being followed by a band playing the music to “Eye of the Tiger(I don’t know if it’s Survivor).” I almost chokes when he gets off the elevator and the band sings, “one day he’ll make…SUPERVISOR!”

Another recent classic is the ESPN shot of the Ohio State and Michigan couple making out.

Commercials Rule!

I like those identity theft commercials, especially the one with the old woman cleaning the pool. Classic.

Great post - I’m a big fan of commercials too…

the one that tickles me most presently is the political Miller spots:
“He’s got BLINDERS ON!”

and “WHO’S POCKET ARE YOU IN?..It’s a TravaShamMockery!”

LOL…“no making up words”

i like any coors light commercial (wing dog, real men of genius, etc) can’t say the same about their beer though.

I forgot about the real men of genius.

Thank you mister way too much clogne wearer.(everywhere a splish splash).

The “real men of genius” commercials are the greatest. The radio ones are better than the TV ads. I found a site a while back and downloaded all 60 something of the commercials to a CD. I’ll pop it in and give it a listen whenever I need a laugh. My favorite is “Mr. Used Car Auto Lot Salesman”.

“You stand behind every vehicle you sell, because if you stood in front of it and the brakes failed, you’d be crushed to death.”

“Oil leak? What oil leak? That is just sweat from all that horse-power.”

Some of the Jet Blue wish-you-were-somewhere-else commercials are pretty funny too.

There was one when they first started that campaign where this guy goes to pick up a girl for a first date. He gets out of the car to open her door, she gets in and as he is walking around the car to the driver’s side she cuts a huge fart. Then her date gets in and says, “you don’t mind if we give so-and-so a ride, do you?” and she turns around and there is a guy in the backseat who just gives her a tight smile and a little wave.

The Bud “real man of genius” ads are great, I’d have to go with “Mr. Foot Long Hotdog Guy” as the best so far. First time I saw that on TV I couldn’t believe they were getting away with that one.

The latest Burger King commercial for the hot jalapeno sandwich where the guy is breathing fire and starts the office on fire.

My favorite right now has to be the new “Office Space”-style Burger King commercials. Especially the one where the little guy yells “I’m Spicy!!”

Co-worker: What are you doing?

Spicy boy: It’s my new catch phrase.

CW: You can’t come up with your own catch phrase. That’s like making up your own nickname. Try it again.

SB: I’m spicy!!

CW: No. Still horrible.

Too funny!

Every time I see that Enzyte commercial with the dorky Ward Cleaver dude and that grin permanently plastered on his face I crack up. Nice double entendre with the “limp hose” too. Hard to believe they get away with some of that stuff.

One that was running about a year that cracked me up was for AOL(or some internet company taht sends discs in the mail). It was a couple that got a disc in the mail and were about to use it to finish their “disc art” on the wall. Then some guy tells thems how great it is and not to use it. It finishes:

Guy: I’ll bet you’ll be using an old Snoop Dogg cd to finish that.

(Snoop enters room)

Snoop: Now wait just one minizzle!

LOL, I love how mainstream Snoop has become.

TCB what website is that?

That would be classic to have around.

B.

“TCB what website is that?”

ditto

I went to the website and Budweiser asked the guy to pull the files down. It was

Another great one is “Mr. Edible Underwear Inventor”.

“You had the guts to combine two of the things that men love the most, Food and Panties.
They are a Snack, No, They are underwear. Wait, they are a Snack AND underwear, Brilliant.”

Speaking of “Brilliant”

I like the Guiness commercials with the cut-out animations.

“Don’t drink six beers at a time…?”

“Brilliant!”

I like the gum commercial where people are hiding out in the office and keep stealing a pack of gum from each other. I think one is disguised as a cabinet, another a window, and the last one is in the water cooler.

I also like the Subway commercials where they say “It’s OK, I had Subway for lunch”. The funniest one is when the wife comes outside to find her husband washing the car in a girl’s cheerleading outfit and he gives her that line. LOL

The funniest commercials though are the Terry Tate office linebacker. There’s a bunch you can see at http://www.terrytate.reebok.com/
