Coming Off TRT, Need Opinions

Thanks. And Thanks @dextermorgan.

Before TRT, I had relatively high TSH, like 4.5. I never felt anything indicative of this, no weight gain, lethargy.

What are the long term consequences of this?
I’m guessing and endo is who I want to see?
I’m guessing exogenous t3/t4 is treatment?
Couldn’t his be related to my low t levels/ coming off? Resolved once I’ve normalized?

Be sure you read that website before going to an endo so you don’t get out on the wrong protocol and end up feeling worse or waste your time. Sometimes when we live with a problem for long enough we don’t realize what better really feels like. Many endos will put you on T4 only. My dad has hashimotos and since my unless it’s the CFO of a major hospital group he saw one of the best endos in the country and was still put on T4 only and it did nothing for him. I eventually read stop the thyroid madness and convinced him to ask for Armour and it’s changed his life. He never knew people were capable of feeling that good.

Because I recently came off TRT. Hoping it’s short term.

Will do. I’m going to wait until I come back normal, and re test to see where I am at before i go down that route (since I feel ‘fine’).

When and if I normalize or don’t (and go back on TRT), I’ll reasses. Regardless, thank you for the input.

Came off for fertility reasons, as I am young. But reading, with HCG and supplemental rFSH, the baby gains may still be achievable on TRT.

Only time will tell.

If you feel good then that’s what matters. Just read up incase you are missing something you don’t realize is attributed to thyroid. If you ever get on TRT you better get that thyroid correct or you may have trouble getting dialed in.

I have friends on TRT that had multiple kids without hcg so don’t let fertility scare you. With hcg (or if needed hmg etc) you can pop out kids.

You stopoed the hcg and then did clomid for 6 weeks? The clomid should restart the pituitary to secrete LH due to blocking of E2. Interesting that LH is still undetectable.

You never felt symptoms of thyroid disease, thats why its called subclinical hypothyroidism - its a biochemical and clinical diagnosis.

Read this

Your restart failed. You should have decent LH at this point, you do not. You do seem to have a thyroid issue though. You could try a restart again. It would make a lot more sense to focus on thyroid. If the LH doesn’t pick up, you are going to be unhappy.

I have 8, 50mg tabs, pharm grade, and a good pill cutter. What would you recommend doing?

As I said, I don’t feel bad. And could attribute the LH to bad timing as it pulsates. Also, an early blood test. I plan to retest in November unless I start to feel bad.

Would fixing thyroid cause my LH to bounce back?

Fixing the thyroid might fix the LH. I would say 50-50 odds. If you want to attempt a restart, you need more Clomid. 50mg a day for a week, 25 a day for at least 2 weeks after that and then 12.5 mg for a week.

It scared me enough to come off. But that is encouraging information. I feel fine-ish, so I’m going to wait. At least I solid 6 months after stopping. If low, go back on. I’m glad I have an idea of the thyroid situation.

Thank you.
