Anyone live there or know about the area? I just got a possible job offer that would involve me moving from RI to Colorado Springs and I don’t know much about the area.
I loved Denver and Boulder when I was there a few years ago, it was one of the few areas I considered settling when I was driving around the country aimlessly. The internet tells me cost of living is a good bit less out there, so that’s nice. How’s Real Estate? Climate? People? Anything at all really would help.

I have never been there but I have heard that it is a bit churchy. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that, but that is what I have heard.
Maybe you can sneak into the olmpic training center and hit up the Oly lift gym!

I have a cousin who lives there and a good friend who use to live there. My cousin loves it. And my friend said out of all the places he’s lived, California, Florida, Wisconsin, Illinois, he liked The Springs the best.
Everytime I have been out there I have had a great time. Everything is at your fingertips. If you like being outside.
Rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, skiing/snowboarding… etc., etc…
You are about an hour south of Denver too.
Colorado Springs is a great city. We have a summer home in Manitou Springs and I have been going there for 30 years. I don’t know about the guy saying it is a bit “churchy” unless he is some kind of Satan woshipper. Great climate. Can be a bit hot in the summer but a great city that has been a lot more progressive in building its infrastructure the past few years.
By the way, “America the Beautiful” was written by Katharine Lee Bates. Bates wrote the song in 1893 while on a trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado. When she got to the top of Pike?s Peak, she said, “All the wonder of America seemed displayed there, with the sea-like expanse”. The view was so beautiful that it inspired her to write the song that is considered by some to be the country?s unofficial national anthem.
I’d do it in a heartbeat. But that’s just me. I love the area, skiing, climbing, great motorcycle roads, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, you name it.
Climate–uh, ok I guess. I imagine the Rockies lend a bit more temper to the winters (I’ve only been there in spring and summer), but since you’re coming from RI, I can’t imagine they’d be any worse. Maybe a bit scarier with curvier roads, but it is what it is.
I can’t say enough good things about Colorado. I just wish they had the same biochem doctoral stuff the California schools do. I’d rather be in Colorado any day of the week (but hey, I’m not knocking Cali’s climate or outdoors. I’m hoping mightily I can get in there.).
Do it. I really doubt you’ll regret the move (for state or living reasons anyway).
colorado springs is nice. i’ve been there a few times. the climate is good, as mentioned almost any outdoor activity is available, the people are friendly even if churchy and the views are nice. night life is lacking, but denver is close for a weekend on the town.
if you get tired of the churchiness, you could always go to boulder. i think they are the cult capitol of the US or something like that. and pearl street is fun. it’s like a mini bourbon street.
