Do it. It’s a great time. And to be completely honest with you, I played football in high school, and rugby much more fun.

Have you decided where you’re going for school?

Nah, still looking right now. West Point is my number one, but there’s a small DII school in Georgia that’s my definite back up.

They’ve got a great team, all the academies do.

If you are talking about Life U, they are one of the top teams in the nation.

Lifting

Squat
175x5
205x5
230x10

Leg Press
225x3x10

Lying Leg Curls
3x10

Ab Wheel
3x10

Last set of squats felt incredibly good, was not expecting ten reps, so I’m a happy boy.

Not sure what that is, but the school in Georgia is North Georgia State College & University.

The place I’m looking at, NGSCU, has a rugby team. So, that will be my replacement for football in college. I’m hoping to keep powerlifting before I graduate and am commissioned in the Army.

Oh ok, good stuff. I think you’re going to be several steps ahead of your competition when you start playing. 2 of the biggest things lacking from rugby players is 1-being out of shape and 2-a lot of people don’t take lifting seriously. Lifting with Ed Coan and being the Army will definitely take care of those 2 problems, so all you have to do is catch the ball and you’ve got 90% of it already haha

Lifting

Overhead Press
75x5
90x5
100x10

*5 chins between each set

Lat pulldowns
3x10

dips
3x16,10,10

curls
3x10

Good day today, got done in 30 mins and felt great. I tried out a thumbless grip on presses and it felt great. 100x10 isn’t a PR, but it’s the first set I felt good about on presses in a while. I got 16 dips today too, which is more then I have done recently.

What position do you play?

[quote]NewAdventure wrote:

Flanker, and sometimes 2nd row.

Yup. Pretty much, I just wanna hit people.

CS

Lifting

Deadlift
225x5
275x5
315x10

*5 chins between each set

split squats
3x10 each leg, holding 20lbs dbs

GHR
3x12,8,8

db side bends
3x10 each side with 50lb db

Training killed me today. I should have stopped the deadlifts around rep 7 or 8. I didn’t thinki about the fact that I haven’t done regular deadlifts in a while, and I got 10 reps with 315 using the trap bar, but the trap bar is easier. So basically, when I got to rep 7 or 8, I let my ego get the best of me, and that was dumb.

I’m gonna learn my lesson one of these days.

Good Stuff. I played second row but retired this year aged 22 LOL. Might start again next year and just play for fun but doubtful at the moment. enjoy my free time

Not had time to look through your log fully but it looks like you’re doing the right stuff. One thing I found the higher up you play the more dynamism is required, even from a second row. So i’d bare that in mind and make sure you keep working on that stuff, power cleans etc, a fast and strong second row (like an extra back rower) is a highly valued player and will get you a long way assuming your skills are up to scratch.
