I have just graduated highschool and will be attending College in August. I read the article about tips for a college career. This will be similar in that i am unsure of what i want to do with my life, and therefore unsure of a college major. I have a passion for nutrition, lifting, and training. I can read for hours on these topics.
The dilemma is that i want to make money…and lots of it(as do all of us). Most of the jobs in these fields(sports training, strength coach, dietician, nutritionist, and so on) dont pay well. I have dreams of opening a gym one day but 80% of small business/entrepreneurships fail. Any jobs in these fields make good money? Any good advice? Also any advice from ppl on the forum who have opened up their own gym or businesses…I appreciate all the help you can give.
Nutritionist can get paid very well actually. It all depends on your reputation and what you make of it. I plan on going into a nutrition feild regardless if it pays well or not. It’s my passion.
My advice for college…NEVER skip class. I think Woody Allen said “90% of life is just showing up” it is so true. It will be 10X easier to get good grades. I really hurt myself as an undergrad skipping classes here and there, being cocky because I breezed through high school and thought I could do the same in college.
I’m sure you probably have better study skills than I did, but I didn’t really learn my lesson until I was in grad school. Get good grades and you will have so many more options when you finish!

Good advise.
Treat college like a 9-5 job.
Don’t sleep all day, don’t fuck around all day. Study between classes.
Don’t underestimate the importance of a job you enjoy. I know you want to make money. But don’t sell your soul for it. It’s a great experience to go through four summers of absolutely shitty full-time work so you know what it feels like to do a job you hate.
Love what you do, that’s huge. Plus, the money as a dietician won’t be so bad that you can’t clothe, feed, and shelter your family, and save up for a college education. Those are the most important things, if not the only ones.

Good advice…although i dont think i’ll be fucking around during the day…i’ll be playing football so that will occupy most of my time
Wake up kid. The number of people who make substantial amounts of money and actually enjoy what they do are the exception not the rule.
Do what makes you the most money and dream about doing what you want or pursue your passion, become the best at what you love and the money may follow.
