The problems I see with our team, is that we have not yet played a complete game. Not a 4 quarter game. When we do that, we will be complete.

I am sad to see both LSU and Colorado choke this weekend, with them starting their games off pretty strong. LSU hung in their, but their offense could not score. Colorado threw the game away with stupid play by their QB. Someone please send this following piece of advice to all QB’s…

DO NOT THROW OVER THE MIDDLE LATE.

Safeties are playing center field so well that they are just picking everything when you throw late over the middle.

Agree completely. I am really hoping this off week has given Bates a chance to open up the offense. If RoJo is back, we’ll have the deep threat to keep the defense more honest. I don’t know why we don’t do more with Havili and McCoy in the red zone.

Fortunately, a number of teams ranked ahead of USC will have some tough games. Texas and OU next week; Bama and Florida in the SEC championship. There is a lot of ball left to play. Speaking of Bama, I am finally a believer. They aren’t flashy, but they do play consistent, solid football. They still haven’t been tested in my opinion, but I think they are legit.

My top five:

 1. Florida
 2. Alabama
 3. Texas
 4. Virginia Tech
 5. USC
Some good points there, I like that Top 5, and MaximusB is probably right in that LSU won’t drop that far, but hopefully they fall to at least 7. As long as VT gets by GT this weekend they’ll play in the ACC title game and win it. They’ve got a great shot at getting in the title game, as does USC at this point (I think the biggest difference why VT is ahead of USC at the moment is who each team lost to being accounted for).

Anyone know what time the rankings come out today?

Nothing new as of yet.

Eic,

My fear is that even though LSU lost last night, they won’t drop very far, I will be curious to see the new rankings. Bama still has Tennessee and LSU, so they might drop still. The only chance I see for Florida to lose is against Georgia, which I don’t see happening. I am kinda pissed that Florida’s non-conference games are Troy, Charleston Southern, Florida International. They might as well be playing high school teams really.
Yeah, there is the fear that LSU won’t drop too far. But remember this is an LSU team that everyone has been suspicious of. A loss at home against a Florida game with Tebow coming off a concussion don’t look so sweet. Also, let’s not forget that their thrilling victory over Georgia suddenly doesn’t look as good when Georgia just got destroyed by the Vols. So I gotta think that when all is said and done, the computers are going to love USC. LSU? Not so much.

I also don’t see Florida losing a game with the possible exception of the SEC Championship game against Alabama. The best we can hope for is for Alabama to drop a game against, say, LSU or Tennessee, then beat Florida in the SEC Championship. I think this is unlikely, however. Thus, it is a virtual guarantee that Florida or Alabama will be in the title game. The only question is who will be the other team?

Boise State is out and I don’t think I need to explain why.

Texas is not going to make it. They have too many tough games on their schedule (OU, OSU, Texas A&M) plus the Big 12 Championship to not drop at at least a game or two.

The real problem is Virginia Tech. They are on easy street and I don’t really see anyone that can take them down with the possible exception of Georgia Tech. If they get past that game, though, you can pen them in.

Thus, the most likely scenario is Florida vs. Virginia Tech, with USC on the outside looking in (again).

Agree completely. I can’t stand the Rose Bowl. I am also tired of playing goddamn Big 10 opponents. Michigan, Illinois, Michigan, Penn State, plus Ohio St. the past two regular seasons. It’s enough already. We BADLY need a USC vs. SEC Champion matchup.
Just When You Thought You Hung It Up For Good…

I went to the 2007 Rose Bowl game against Michigan which we won. I had an old USC practice jersey of mine on with a blue zip up sweatshirt over it (its all I had at the time.) After the win, I am walking to my car with my then girlfriend, and get some beer thrown on me by some young teenage USC fans. They took my blue sweatshirt as me being a Michigan fan, but were straightened out when I unzipped my sweatshirt and revealed my jersey. I then got to charge the punk who threw beer on me, chasing him around cars until he pleaded with me not to blow him up. Turned a perfectly fun day into me driving home smelling like Coors Light and beer foam in my hair. FML.
That sucks. The moment I read “blue sweatshirt” I knew where the story was going. How do you not have a USC sweatshirt? I mean, even I have a couple and I never even went to the school!

So…on a side note, Arkansas throttled Auburn.

We arent ranked or anything, but still an amazing game.

Just food for thought.

Ryan Mallett has looked pretty good…leaving Michigan was the smart choice for him.

Come on,dude…A&M? Kansas the week before will be the team to worry about before A&M. Granted we get through OU,Missouri, and OSU in the next three week stretch. I must say that I am slowly starting to have serious distaste for our inability to run the ball with the number of decent backs we have. Line up and run the fucking ball in people’s face from time to time. There is no balance on our offense…just like last year.

That is what worries me about those tough games. The defense has stepped up. But they are so slow to get started…and that is not a good thing going into next few weeks. BUT it is good see a team pick up the slack in other areas when needed. Hopefully that will hold true for rest of the season.

Arkansas looks really good. What year is Mallet?

It’s looking more and more like it’s going to be Florida vs Alabama in the title game, and I would love to see the crimson tide roll the gators.

Heisman thoughts?

Jimmy Clausen
Case Keenum
Ndamukong Suh

Technically a junior, he is a redshirt sophomore. He was at Michigan his freshman year, transferred and so due to NCAA rules had to sit out his sophomore year, so this is now his second year playing football.

He is doing great, I’m glad to see him in razorback red. My dad and his brothers grew up with Mallet’s dad, they are real glad to see him doing well.

Rivalry game. At night. On the road. Need I remind you about a 12-7 loss to A&M at Austin in 2006? Is it as likely to produce a loss as the KU, OU, or OSU games? No. But anything can happen. And you have to admit that Texas has not looked dominant this season. They are as vulnerable as USC in a lot of ways, with inconsistent offensive production, particularly in the first half. Being down by 11 at home against an anemic Colorado team does not bode well for Texas when the schedule starts to get a little steeper. At least one loss, maybe two. Put it on the board.
eic wrote:
How about that win by the 'Skers! They looked anemic on special teams and offense for 90% of the game, but looked amazing for that last 10%. Gabbert is lucky he didn’t have like 8 pics in that game. Also, the refs made some TERRIBLE calls against Nebraska all game.

Some that jump out: The phantom hands-to-the-face penalty on Suh (very iffy call to make in such a tight game); the horse-collar-tackle penalty against Suh (he clearly had Gabbert by the jersey, not the shoulder pads); ruling that the Mizzou wide receiver made a catch on that diving attempt when the ball very clearly touched the ground and in any event he was clearly out of bounds. I hate refs.
That was a great game, 27 unanswered points in the 4th quarter. I like many was ready to go to bed when they scored the first TD of the game, and I just decided to see what happens. Bad calls all night. Suh is the best defensive player in college football right now.

I can’t see why Clausen is on that list, ND has not played a team with the defense rated better than 70 yet, I think Clausen still has a lot to prove.

I would like to see Suh win it, yes I am from NE but Suh has been a amazing player each game.

Looks like Bama jumped over Texas for the #2 spot in the new rankings.

Why am I not surprised LOL. You still have LSU down the road, so don’t count your chickens just yet.

As I predicted. I have no idea why Boise State is #5. Undefeated is great, but not when it means beating UC Davis. I expect that team to drop like a stone when the BCS rankings come out. Crossing fingers for a loss at Tulsa.

Speaking of Boise State, I actually have an idea for a statistical analysis to see if the blue turf adds an unfair advantage in their home games. I’ve always suspected it does.

Hang on there,
I don’t think Boise should be ranked where they are either, certainly not ahead of my Horned Frogs who beat them last year, but almost every team in America has scheduled a 1AA bodybag for the 12th game. Most of the “powers” from the Big 12 and SEC only schedule 1 decent OOC game out of their 4 games.

As for Boises home record, how many good teams actually play them at home? If USC, and Nebraska, and Bama, UT and OU all think they are so much better, how bout going up there and playing them?

With all respect, Boise State’s “conference” schedule consists of the lightweights that the big boys use to tune up. I can’t speak for Nebraska, Bama, UT, and OU, but USC is too busy playing non-conference games against Ohio St. and Notre Dame to bother with Boise. Don’t get me wrong, I like Boise St. and think they’re fun to watch. I just resent the fact that they can clip Oregon at home, then roll through a pathetic schedule and rise to #5. Honestly, what have they done to even be included in the top 10?

Edit: Great minds think alike! Here’s someone who agrees with my view of Boise St.:

I don’t like bama, but I got to give them credit, they are good. Texas is good too, but not as good as bama. That being said, I hope they lose.
