I have not had a chance to watch game day this year, been kind of crazy in my life this football season.
There is more to media than ESPN.

Stanford is starting to look really good right about now. They looked like shit the first two weeks, looked unbeatable for most of the Arizona State game, and looked downright scary against Washington State. The Pac-12 looks really tough this year, but if they can make it through undefeated I can’t see how any other team could end up in the title game. Ohio State looks good as well, but they play in a pretty dog shit conference and aren’t going to end up with any big-time wins this year if they go undefeated, whereas Stanford could end up beating several top teams if they can run the table. Notre Dame sucks again and USC is awful, but wins against UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State, and Washington would look really good on their resume, better than wins against Wisconsin, Northwestern and Michigan, that’s for sure.[/quote]
I really do think a Bama-Oregon national championship would be the most fitting end to the BCS. I hope its not Ohio State as I really do believe that either one of those two teams or any of the top 2 or 3 contenders from their conferences (LSU, Georgia, Stanford) would beat the dog out of Ohio State. We have seen the undefeated OSU against SEC song and dance before. It wasn’t pretty. Let the Pac and the SEC fight it out and leave the punching bags from the Big 10 out of it.

Do you think OSU can compete with the big dogs of the SEC? Curious, not trying to patronize you.

Meyer is a much different coach than Tressel, both in play calling and recruiting. They’d compete just fine…
True, I had not thought about Meyer. I disagree with you but we will no doubt.

Bama, LSU, and UGA would be very tough games, but i highly doubt they would be one sided. I’d favor the Buckeyes against anyone else in the sec, it’s a very unbalanced conference despite what everyone makes it out to be.

I still remain thoroughly unimpressed with Ohio State. And that’s not just an SEC homer type thing. Top dogs in Pac 12 and ACC are all better than them in my opinion. Question, if an undefeated Bama loses to 1-loss UGA in the SEC championship, Or a one loss LSU avenges its only loss and beats a 1 loss UGA in the championship, you really think that OSU would be within 14 of anyone of those schools?
If OSU goes and plays Oregon in the National Championship it will be a 21 point beating minimum. I really do believe Oregon is the best team in the country, playing in a conference that is making a strong case for “strongest conference in the country”. The Big 10 is duking it out with the ACC and the Big 12 for third and probably losing to the ACC right now. With a conference like that you better play someone non-conference that was a little better than Cal, who by the way averaged 30 pts against the best of the Big 10 this year, and only scored 16 against Oregon (all but 3 in the second half after the game was well out of hand).

The frickin media always has such a hard-on for Ohio State. They’re perpetually overrated. Drives me nuts.

Yeah. And they totally ignore Oregon State too. Sean Mannion is the #1 QB in the country and Brandon Cooks is the #1 receiver after 5 games. That deserves some love in my book, but I’m a total homer.

They had the opportunity to get some love this year as people preseason were giving them a little attention. Then East Washington happened and their chance for respect went down in flames. Not saying its right but its just the way it works with schools that don’t have that prestige level.

Ripsaw,
Are you an OSU guy? Got to meet some of the fans when the Beavers played the Frogs at Jerry World a few years back. I was very impressed w the turnout. Was also pleasantly surprised at how many fans you brought to Ft Worth for a baseball regional. The Beavers thumped the Aggies twice. Does not seem that long ago but every player on that Frog team has graduated or moved on. OSU has a classy fan base.
Pretty sure the media(not just ESPN) hates the Big Ten, and by extension OSU. The coaches are the ones that actually have them ranked #3 btw, so that’s clearly the media as well.
The locations of every post on this page is 100% predictable, mine included.

Come on, gimmi a little credit. A Mississippi guy saying that Oregon is the best team in the country when Bama is undefeated is at least a little out of the norm.

Did you see his little speech before the game to the team?
If so, was he doing a Bill Cosby impression? I couldn’t tell if he was serious or doing an impression… I hope he was doing a Cosby lol
