I don’t know if anyone posted this, but think about how close we were to some bullshit national championship with Notre Dame and Ohio State.
Ohio State is ineligible for postseason play. We didn’t come close at all to that game, thank God.

If they don’t get popped by the NCAA then Tressel never gets fired/resigns and they probably don’t go undefeated as a result.
There would be some what-if’s involved with the way the polls play out(especially since the team was barred from the coaches poll entirely), but I don’t think OSU would have gotten in anyways. Assuming the season plays out the same: they were #3 in the AP poll after the Michigan win, behind a 1-loss Bama who still had Georgia to play; beating Nebraska is not pushing OSU over that hurdle. I think the B1G was bad enough this year to discredit an undefeated OSU season in the polls, which make up 2/3 of the BCS standings.

I do think OSU would’ve been a much better representative in the Rose Bowl though, making it one less throwaway BCS game on the schedule.

I have to tell you, though, I prefer having Wisconsin fans in and around Southern California rather than OSU fans.

The Wisconsinites party pretty hard, have a good time, but are respectful and overall excited to be in the Rose Bowl. They’re happy to talk B1G football with anyone that approaches them and they’re pretty educated on the whole college football/BCS landscape. While they are a pretty staunch rival year in and year out for my team (Michigan), they know it’s all in good fun.

Buckeye fans clog our jails, steal anything that isn’t bolted down, and post pictures of themselves humping Mickey Mouse on FB. They also set up tattoo tables at bars, tailgates, Griffith Park Observatory, Universal City Walk, and the Santa Monica Pier. They Poop in the Rose Bowl parking lot/golf course holes and try to sell any manner of services from hand jobs to “givin’ somebody a beatin” for tickets. And they slow down the security check points at LAX because they’re trying to smuggle three cases of Stone Arrogant Bastard (aptly named btw) in their kids strollers, carseats, grandmas wheelchair, wives makeup kit, neck pillows, and in the ducktaped legs of their sweatpants.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen buckeye fans in front of me at the TSA cracking bottles of beer with their cigarrette lighters and passing them around to their counterparts and kids going “drink up kids and give me your empties! I’ll be damned if I’m not getting a refund on these bottles once we land in Cleveland!!!”

Savages.

I’ll requote this post when UL beats Florida, kthanxbai

If i dint hate this state and city so much i would argue with you about those points.

I will say this, when you have a fan base the size that tOSU does, that usually includes a large amount of douche.

Bret Bielema to Arkansas… What the hell?

I guess he’s leaving Wisconsin in the capable hands of a QB with three blown ACL’s and a young running game? This is a bit of a coup, eh?

Wonder what sort of message this is sending to the B1G?

I’m probably making a bigger deal out of this than I need to, but this feels a little bit like Rich Rodriguez’s departure from WVU

I guess we’ll never see you here again then.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! This post cracked me up. How do the all the kids say it these days? Oh yeah. ROFLMFAO! Oh fuck, so true, so true. I have a buddy who’s a huge OSU fan and while we’re good friends and all, the guy is also the biggest fucking douche I’ve ever seen about sports, specifically OSU football/basketball.

“Urb already has the conference by the balls, may as well get paid…”

Heavy Triple never came back so I guess I will do it for him:

You have any predictions for tonight?

To be honest, I think Bama will win it. I really dont want them too, Mostly due to the fact I dont want them to be in the same category of winning 3 titles in 4 years like my Huskers did.

I rather see EVIL #2 (ND) win instead of EVIL #1 (bama)

It’s still kind of hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that Notre Dame is playing in a National Championship.

Do you all think Brian Kelley would be in this game, this year, with a Cincinatti team?

Me too. They flat out got demolished. What a crappy year of bowl games. Only a few were really that close.

I was so wrong.

Agreed. Virginia Tech v Rutgers was the worst football game I have ever witnessed.

The championship was predictably one sided as well. I said from the get go that the actual championship game would be the SEC championship.

ND showed up neutered.

I was looking over the list of bowls and it is difficult to see how they can justify so many of the things from a financial sponsorship viewpoint. Forget from a ‘who gives a flip’ standpoint.

The drive towards mediocrity in this country is exemplary.

Slow in the first half,

Slow, gassed, beaten in the second.

Big case of who’s been there before and who was new to the dance. Lamb to the slaughter.
