Wow. Right on cue, Hogan makes a beautiful throw into tight coverage in the back of the end zone and Stanford’s receiver made a fucking insane catch to haul it in and knot the score at 14 each.
STANFORD! STANFORD! STANFORD! STANFORD! STANFORD!

^^maybe. I could see K State getting beat by Texas in two weeks/whoever they play in the Big12 championship game.
As much as i hate to admit it, I could see Bama still playing for the NC. If they win out and take the SEC title game I could see them playing an undefeated Oregon… Cause ND is going to get rolled by USC in two weeks.
No Big 12 title game anymore - K-State winning out (beating Baylor and Texas) would guarantee them a trip to the NC game.
Oh shoot… It would almost garauntee K-State going.
If K-State squeeks out their next two games and ND rolls SC (not gonna happen) I could see ND jumping them just because they’re ND and it would be a huge story to have them play for the title.
Actually I am more worried about the Wake forest game than I am about the USC game. The one flaw with my Irish is playing to the level of the competition. A Wake Forest team that has nothing to lose (this is their NC game, balls out) is more dangerous in IMO. USC game SHOULD be similar to the OKC game providing the balls are inflated properly
Fact is that the best scenario for $$ is Bama vs ND on Jan 7th.

Looks like that ND vs BAMA game might just happen. Holy shit! Go Irish!!
I can’t believe Oregon lost…and that Alabama is going to play for another national championship…
Oh well, college football is irrelevant until the playoff system starts anyway. So SEC fans, enjoy your time at the top now because y’all will soon be as irrelevant as the BCS is right now.

What makes you think that? Do you really think that by having a 4 team playoff the SEC teams are suddenly going to start losing to other conferences all the time?
How the fuck did Stanford not crack the AP Top 25 after last night’s win? They go on the road to play the best offense in college football, they hold that offense (which was averaging 58 pts per game) to just 14 points and beat the #2 team in the country. And they only go from #13 to #11?
Stanford is a really, really good team with an elite defense that could hold its own against anything the SEC has to offer. Unless Alabama loses, they’ll be playing for the national title, but damn, I’d love to see Stanford and Alabama line up across from one another and just beat the fuck out of each other for four quarters.
edit: make that the AP Top 10, not 25.
Bama still has to win the SEC title game against Georgia, while I think they will it’s certainly not a gimme. ND also needs to beat USC in a huge rivalry game.
With a GTech upset of Georgia(would be like a Baylor > KState level of upset), and then a Georgia win over Bama(repeat above notion), Florida could actually still sneak into the title game. They have to handle their business with a huge rivalry game against a solid Florida State team first, but I’m just pointing out that while the national title picture is pretty clear, it’s not ready for museum showing just yet.
What a crazy weekend in college football.
My Trojans have to play Notre Dame without Barkley, he had his shoulder sprained against UCLA.

It sucks because I was really looking forward to this game. I really thought the Trojans would have beat them if Barkley played.

I agree, Stanford-Alabama would be great

I don’t even think that much has to happen. As long as Florida beats FSU, they are in if ND loses (though I doubt that now that Barkley is out)
I am biased, but I think ND still wins with Barkley. I agree he is a great QB but keep in mind that OK was averaging 43 pts a game when we played them and held them to 13 (2 FG, 1 TD).
The sentiment here is pretty low, as far as USC goes. Barkley gone, and ND looking very strong, we play them at home, and that is probably the ONLY good thing we have going for us.
Kiffin is staying it seems.
How did Oregon lose ?
I would have bet money that we were going to see an Oregon-Bama National Title game.

What the fuck is the deal with Kiffin? Do people down in LA consider him to be as big a jerk and scumbag as the rest of the country considers him? Every week I hear some new shit about the guy that just reeks of low-class bullshit. Like the whole switching jerseys thing. And I don’t believe for one fucking second that that ballboy from a couple weeks ago was deflating the opponents’ balls all on his own. I’m sure Kiffin put him up to it and probably never even said thanks after he threw the guy under the bus when the whole thing came out.
(my opinion)…
I think Kiffin thinks he knows it all. He is very young, 38 I think, and with youth comes ego. The team was flat last Saturday, we went down 24-0 by the 2nd quarter. We got to within 3, and then Barkley got hurt, and we broke down after that. I have no idea about the deflated ball thing, who knows.
DB, please beat up UCLAn for me, hate those guys. They think they are hot shit, because they beat us for the first time in 6 yrs.

Oh fuck am I pulling for Stanford hard against UCLA. I love Stanford. They do it right there, no violations, no investigations, no players getting arrested multiple times while on scholarship, and they’re still really good and really physical.
Plus, it’s like watching the junior version of the Niners since they run the exact same offense. UCLA is pretty good, but I think Stanford’s defense can shut them down and I really like this redshirt freshman they have at QB, Kevin Hogan. Mark my words, he’ll be a legit NFL player in 5 or 6 years.
If Stanford wins and then wins the Pac-12 championship game, they’ll be in a BCS bowl game for sure. I’d love to see them up against an SEC team. But the team I’d like to see them go up against the most based purely on styles is Alabama, and that ain’t happening.
I’m a little confused. If Stanford wins the Pac-12 do they still do the whole Pac-12 champ vs BIg 10 champ thing? If so, I guess it will be Stanford vs. Nebraska in the Rose Bowl.
That would be a really good game, but it would be unfortunate because Stanford would be playing a team below them in the rankings and I think it’s time to see someone other than Oregon come out of the Pac-12 and play a big-time SEC team, even if it isn’t going to be the national championship game, don’t you Maximus?
Like, Stanford vs. Georgia or LSU. THOSE would be good games. Pure tire-iron-to-the-face, foot-stomps-in-the-clinch sort of football.
Yes DB, I think Stanford has clearly earned a spot in the national scene for major accolades, they either beat or did very well against some very good teams.
Shit, I saw the ending of your game against Notre Dame, and when I saw that guy barely inch himself into the endzone, I argued that he did not get in. From what I saw on the reply, I did not agree that he crossed the line.
