LSU is the top dog in the country for sure after this weekend. They have played the toughest schedule so far, and have mopped each one of those opponents.
Their size and athleticism is impressive, and most teams will have trouble dealing with that for four quarters. The fact their doing so well in turnover margin is just icing on the cake.[/quote]

I read an article interviewing someone at the top at A&M. They think they will be able to win the recruiting battles with Texas because they will have the distinction of being both in Texas and in the SEC. With the continued upward momentum of the A&M program and being able to get a few more top recruits they should continue to improve. Not sure I would compare them Miss State, though Arkansas at this point may be fair.
A&M recently restarted the rivalry game with Arkansas. I have read that there was a big LSU rivalry at one point. Then there can be the Bear Bryant rivalry of sorts with Alabama. Of all the Texas teams, A&M is probably the most culturally connected to the Deep South. Very, very different fro Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio. Not sure about Houston, just have not spent that much time there.

I think this depends largely on their defense. If they can get that dialed in, and with a less than stellar OSU, they might be able the win the one game that matters. They do that, I think they will have the swagger to be back in contention next year.

Not surprising. I think the fact that Texas has a cowboy reputation does disservice to the 5?, 7? cultural regions in Texas. When I was doing research down in N.O. after Katrina I got a lot of cold stares until I said I was from Texas, then it was open arms.
