My Huskers didn’t play very well.
It seems like there was a lot of teams playing like they had a hangover or something.
Hope this weekend against Washington is a lot better.

I was at the game and was thoroughly entertained, despite all of the sloppiness. However, I think the game film is going to be like porn for all of our upcoming opponents.
In college football, it’s always hard to tell, especially early in the season, how good a team actually is against lesser opponents, because even if your team doesn’t play well, some teams either aren’t motivated to play hard against poor teams, some teams look past certain opponents and get caught napping, or teams have dramatically different game plans against different styles. It all adds to the intrigue, but overall, we won’t really know much about very many teams across the country at all until October.
Looking in closer detail at specific games, though, especially if you have a personal interest, call tell a different story. The Huskers are going to have some trouble against the better teams in the Big Ten unless they grow up and jell very quickly.

I did not check under the author’s tail before posting. Did not think it necessary, because some people can surprise you about their football knowledge.
^ Cant see at work.
Again there are “male” sports reporters that I dont respect and listen too. Skip Bayless being one that I would crush him and his will to live. I also dont like people (so not to be called a sexist) who just go for “splash” journalism.

Did anyone else read the college football roundtable where all the print journalists said they hated Craig James? I thought that was pretty awesome.

That’s one reason I actually started to respect Jim Rome some.
Apparently after the whole Jim/Chris Everett thing he got really embarrassed about how he was conducting himself professionally and his overall demeanor. Obviously he’s still a pretty opinionated and “hard-hitting” talking head, but you could definitely see a change in the way he started running his shows and radio program.

Probably cause he tell them to STFU and how would they know anything about playing the game.
Same shit goes on in here, some 18 year old girl who wants to PL and has read everything there is to read about it telling you how you should do it PMPM.
You would be beating some chicks ass I bet.

That was fucking awesome when that happened.
The ultimate STFU, Jim beat his ass.

Yeah.
Craig James is a tool. Mike Leechs’ book spells it out pretty clearly, as well as Deadspin.coms’ expose. 100% douche-move by ESPN to keep that guy on board.

I wish I gotten to see that, I can’t stand Craig James.

Okay so what makes you say that. I never went and read much about the situation, just what was put out there in mass media. I didnt form an opinion of either Leech or James.
I just chalked it up as basically James’s kid got treated a little to harsh and James all jumped in as his father.

Fair question Deej.
It wasn’t just James jumping in as his father, it was James, his PR firm, and the clout of ESPN(by proxy).
Let me find the deadspin article for you.
And to be honest I never had a bad thought about Craig James prior to the T-Tech issues. I thought he was (and still is) a saavy comentator who understands the game well. He’s great at his job. His excitement when T-Tech beat Bevo in 2008 during the blackout was hands down one of the best pieces of football broadcasting I’ve ever heard live.
But,
The spinning that went on with his kid and whatnot? Leaves a sour taste in my mouth. He announced the Michigan/Western Michigan game last week and it definitely stuck in my craw while watching the game.
This will have to do for now, having trouble finding the source emails.

I’m goona wager a guess that he was one of the fellas you looked up to as a kid. Coming out of Texas, world beater at SMU, ran the ball in the NFL, fast, etc.
So, I get it. I’m not going to try make you buy what I’m sellin on this one.

Actually not really that. I was going off the fact like you stated that now after reading up on it you have a negative slant on games he announces etc.
Like trying to watch Lethal Weapon or Mad Max and not think Damn Mel is just a walking POS. Takes away from the movie.
Just joking still would like to read it.
Dude that is really really fucked up.
I would never do that shit to somebody.
Yes James is a douche and it sounds like his kid is also.
I liked Keith Jackson, with his “whoa Nelly !”

Or the “Man, Woman, and Child, man did that put them in the aisles!” comment…
Those were the days…
Tell you what, listening to Brad Nessler announce the Raiders-Broncos last night reminded me of Keith Jackson.
Nessler is good at what he does, but “boy howdy!” do I miss Keith.
best game of the weekend:
Mich vs notre dame
or
South caroline vs georgia (2 td’s by a D-linemen)
