That black guy, Zoe. I think that is his name.

I don’t know that I’d put Rush in that category.

Elmo goes to Washington

At the invitation of Rep. Randy Cunningham (R-Cal).

There doesn’t seem to be many articles on this event, apart from sites that are non-reliable (wikipedia) or blatantly partisan (huffingpost). In any case, I think Congress, regardless of who’s in control, tends to waste a lot of taxpayer money, nor is it truly interested in an honest discussion of matters.

As if we needed to see this just to know what a joke congress really is…

Well done, SHC!

But really, do you guys expect anything less from congress?

As Orion pointed out, these dimwits actually think it’s their job to investigate the use of steroids in MLB!!

regardless of your views on colbert. i cant seem to find anything on anyone in that committee ever spending time significantly close to the issue of immigration, besides hearing about it from others.

one of colberts episodes he spent time working with migrant workers. Does his 12 hours of on hand experience outweigh the collective experience of that entire committee?

i thought his routine that day wasnt his best, but if anything his closing statement was the most significant.

until we align our economic policies with our border policy we will never get a hold on immigration at all. the whole quietly inviting them and loudly hating them is unsustainable.

and thats just the things that get blown up so we can hear about it.

imagine all the inane BS that gets quietly whisked away on cspan.

So this is different than when the Republican party called Elmo from Sesame Street to testify because…

No one ever said it was different. Both seem pretty equally retarded to me. You don’t agree?

[quote]Cockney Blue wrote:

…because…this is a very serious issue and nothing to joke about. Why is that so hard to understand? The integrity of our borders, border patrol executions, the occupation of American territory by rogue drug gangs who are as well-equipped as any crack army, the trafficing of underage prostitutes (complete with that repulsive thing called “tree rapes”), the near slavery conditions of these migrant workers, the very numerous instances of illegals committing mulitiple violent crimes, the unemployment rate of law-abiding Americans, the mockery of law-abiding legal workers.

None of this^^ strikes me as funny in the least. How 'bout you Cock?

Anyone who thinks otherwise should try look a mother, father, or child or wife or husband affected by all this and tell them how funny this whole thing is.

Colbert - not to mention his enablers - is a fucking idiot of the highest order.

And finally, what is absolutely outrageous is the way that the entire freaking circus took reporters, air time, brain cells, etc. away from the real issue and the real reason for the mockery: to distract away from the Christopher Coates testimony.

Don’t be mad at Blue,

After all, he saw his 4th mayor murdered in Mexico just recently, and major newspapers have now surrendered to Cartels. How 'bout that Blue? Still want to rant and rave about how awesome living in Mexico is?

Maximus, so you are making an argument that it is US/Mexican drug enforcement policy that makes Mexico a horrible place to live? How exactly does that help your point about immigration?

I am saying border policy is what makes Mexico a horrible place to live. And when I say border policy, I mean that there is none at all. Put the military on the border, tanks, troops, choppers, and anything that moves coming from south of our border gets shot at. You start doing that, you will see no further illegal immigration. Cartels are met with mortars, 50 caliber bullets, and the full might of the US military.

Border jumpers are arrested and detained. Then you change the laws so those who do live here illegally get nothing, and I mean NOTHING. No jobs, no housing, no school, no citizenship. NOTHING but trouble. When I went back home to Italy to visit, I was pleasantly shocked to see how rough they are with illegals. They deport them, no questions asked, doesn’t matter how many kids you have, how long you lived there, nothing. You are OUT.

What about Mexico? It will implode, and can then start over.

and then they come back tomorrow because they cant miss a shift at walmart or theyll be fired. and the military has wasted all those 100$ bottles of water and hotdogs keeping troops around.

social programs for illegals are the leaves on the tree. no body moves from one place of squalor to live in squalor elsewhere just so they can go to highschool for free. the businesses that hire them and the opinion of consumers that meat, fruit and vegetables should be so cheap is a force far greater than any military or fence

Did you miss the part about NO jobs or benefits in my above post?

Ah, I don’t know that Colbert is actually a puppet of the DNC. More like modern political satirist. He doesn’t seem to mind lampooning either party. Think Twain or Swift of contemporary media, minus the notoriety and prerequisite ability to read.

Depending on how you interpret it, he could very well have been sticking it to dems by showing how ineffective they have been at using the opportunity that they have had for some time now to actually do something that people are concerned with. Having him up there acting like a dick is like icing on the cake.

I like it. Like a big nose thumbing fuck you to a bunch of people who have wasted WAY more money than the cost of the time alloted for him to speak. Bickering about the govt. wasting 40k. makes about as much sense as arguing about the shade of blue that the sky is after it has already been agreed to that the sky is in fact blue.

Even Stewart hasn’t been exactly kind to dems lately. The few times I’ve watched, he has been (not scorchingly) critical of them as being as ineffective and self serving as any elected official could possibly be. It would be nice to see him just go completely apeshit, but he still seems to have a shred of hope that they might actually do something decent at some point.

Thank you. It’s good to know that I’m not the only who sees it that way.

I’m scheduled to appear before the same congress-critters tomorrow to tell knock-knock jokes.

Well you better not be funny or relevant or else the guys on here will accuse you of sedition.

Heres a nice and sarcastic one you can try out on them though-

Knock Knock.

Who’s there?

Not a mexican.

How do I know you’re “not a mexican”?

Cause if I was I would have just jumped your fence, took your job, and nailed your old lady without knocking.
