Somebody was saying that cod liver oil is not a good choice compared to salmon caplets?.. and that T-mag was bashing it?.. I looked EVERYwhere to find that, but I couldn’t. Can somebody please tell me why that is?.. I’ve been taking COD liver from birth. I actually like the taste.
Cod liver oil is very high in vitamin A. I know that some people have done the calculations and say that cod liver oil is totally safe and does not exceed the vit A toxicity level. But you have to take into account that vit A is fat soluble and takes a long time to clear from the system. So it depends on how much you take, but many bodybuilders take things to extremes and thus vit A poisoning is a real risk.
Although I will say that I have yet to hear of anybody here or elsewhere that has gotten vit A poisoning from cod liver oil. So you have to weigh the cost vs. benefit. Maybe it is ok once in a while, but I would primarily stick with regular fish or salmon oil or just eat fish.

Go to mercola.com and do a search on cod liver oil. It will answer all your questions about it. I’ve also been using it for quite some time with no problems at all.
I didn’t read the particular article, but I wouldn’t trust anything from mercola.com. If the front page identifies it as a nutrasweet paranoia site, I generally avoid the page!
