Coan/ Philipi Deadlift Routine

wait so i’m sorta confused… after the 1x2, you go for 8x3 speed sets for 3 circuits? so ur basically doing 3 rounds of 8 sets x 3 reps?
No. The 3 circuits refers to the work after the pulling.

Im bombed on the 8th week, I barely got 1 rep out of the required 2. WTF happened?

why does it specify reverse grip pulldowns?

Hey guys,

I just finished the Week 9 session last night. I pulled 195 kg for a single. Link to the video below.

My problem with deadlifts in the past was that I would straighten the knees too early and it would become more of a barbell stand-up rather than a deadlift. That didn’t happen last night though it may be hard to tell from the video angle.

Can you please give me feedback on my form? Apologies for the camera angle and the ghey gym music but I had no one to film for me and I don’t have any say in what kind of music my gym plays.

Do you guys think I will be able to pull 200 kg (my desired max) next week? I think I pulled 195 kg with decent form but there was no way I could have done another rep.

What do you guys do psych up for a max attempt? I’ve heard about sniffing ammnoia. Does it work? And if so, where would I buy it from?

To get pumped I go punch the nearest bench curl warrior. on the other hand it looks like your butt is a little high to start try lowering them and pulling back on the bar.

So Im guessing you can keep your upper body days the same pretty much? Did anyone lower their volume on those days?

Yes, it works. Don’t know where you’d buy it in Australia though, but I just buy it in my regular old supp store.

hi guys .

finished 4th week on coan philipi deadlift routine everything went great .

but now down with viral fever , lost bodyweight and strength.

how do i go back to my program . do i start from begining ??? or take it from where i left ???

started today. im planning to go from 215 (kg that is) to at least 230. wish me luck.

still pretty easy…

So how would someone incorporate this into West Side?

Luke

If I were to incorporate it into westide I’d just make it my ME lower day.

Was supposed to hit my week 3 today, snow finished me with a 3 hour commute home, so I had to stick with some higher volume work in my basement and try again next week.

Well you’re supposed to switch ME exercises every 1-3 weeks, so I don’t know how that would work.

I think you would just completely drop westside lower ME/DE days and replace it with this routine until its finished. Keep upper the same. Its a specialization program so you don’t really incorporate it into an existing one.

x2

That would be like trying to fit Smolov into 5/3/1.

Doing it again, getting my pull back to 545 is the goal this time.

the 1st week seemed easier then I remember the 1st two times I did it (from 365 to 405 and from 455 to 495) but damn it really smokes the upper back the next day!

pfff…week 4 was really f#ckin hardcore

How is this routine split up?

DO I do the the speed work seperate from the work sets? When do I do the assistance work?
Do your work sets first, then your speed deads, and finish with the assistance work. The assistance work is done circuit style for the first 4 weeks. From week 5 on, you do all of your sets of one exercise before moving on to the next.

I realize this post is over a year old, but THANK YOU! That calculator is awesome.

I’ve been kicking around the idea of trying this program, and that was a huge help. It looks like a ball buster.

double tap.
