Also, I love slopers and squeeze compression climbs.
Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery. I will be thinking of you and hoping for a fabulous outcome. Will you be able to watch any of the IPF masters bench worlds in Denver?

Probably not because I will most likely still be terribly swollen and not wanting to be out and about much. Supposedly around 2 weeks is when most people turn a corner and start feeling much better.
Apr 2nd Workout
Climbing
Routes
10b
12b
12a
12c
12c
Notes: Felt strong, but really only maintaining excitement for a few pitches before I start hurting bad enough to lose interest.
How long do they expect for a full recovery? And once that happens, do you think you’ll branch out from being a bench specialist?

6 months before full release, but then ease in slowly. Assuming I end up being able to squat to depth without rounding my back, (which doc says is likely) I will certainly train for full meets. Right now my hip will not flex past about 80 deg, and will not abduct more than 10 degrees.
Apr 3rd Workout
Climbing
Bouldering
V1
V2 x 2
V3 x 2
V4 x 2
V5 x 5
V6
Notes: Bouldering is definitely getting harder just because the landing in a fall hurts like piss. Fingers are strong. Only two more days before leaving for South Carolina for surgery.
Apr 4th Workout
Lifting
Bench
Warmup
bar x 10
135 x 5
135 x 5
185 x 5
235 x 4
275 x 2
305 x 1
325 x 1
345 x 1
225 x 19
Band pull aparts
4 x 15
Notes: Was going to go for a heavy max, but wasn’t feeling up for it. I think the stress of upcoming surgery is wearing me out mentally. I am excited for it, but still getting some anxiety.

Notes: Since I only have one more day of climbing for a while. figured I would get a few pitches in.
Best wishes on your surgery, from a Denver guy; never noticed you are in Colorado. You’ll be back better than ever I’m sure.

Totally normal. But 225 x 19 is pretty damn stout!
Looking forward to your return.
Thanks again everyone for your concern. Today was my last climbing day for a few months, as tomorrow I fly to Columbia, SC for hip resurfacing surgery.

Bouldering
V3 x 2

Notes: Not sure how long it will be before I can climb again, but I suspect anywhere from 6-12 weeks. Gonna be a long road, but I know it will be better on the other side.
Good luck, take care.
Best of luck tomorrow!
Surgery was a success. Checked into the hospital yesterday at 10:30am and checked out today at 1pm. Dr. Gross was able to add 1.6cm of length to my right leg to even them out. He also cleaned up my old surgery scar in the process. On crutches, with weight bearing, but my leg feels like a log. The next week or so is going to suck.
Glad to see you’ve come out on the other side!
Good luck with recovery. If you don’t mind sharing, please post a bit about your experience. Whether I have a hip issue or not, I think it’s really useful to hear about people’s experience with different surgeries, rehab, etc, gives me an idea what the score is if I’m ever facing a similar choice.
I’m glad to hear your surgery went well! I wish you the best of luck on your recovery bud.
All I can add is stay positive and please do the rehab!
You’ll be better for having this issue fixed.
Stay strong.
I am excited for your return. Heal well.
I don’t know how to say the same thing they said, without actually saying the same thing they said. So, what they said.
Pretty interesting device. Do you know much about what he had to do to get it in place in terms of moving things around, removing/reattaching tendons and such? There’s a lot of stuff going on in that area tissue-wise. If you’d rather not go into it, that’s fine.
