This is a point I’ve made in the past and I agree with this. Politics pollutes science.
But that still doesn’t mean all or most of the science (or scientists) is crap.

Not when you look at the track history of humans
I’m not saying it is.
To clarify, my concern is less with the scientific process and more with how good-faith science can easily translate into public policy failures. I don’t think it is a generally good idea to blindly assume that scientific models about the future are correct and then put the recommendations of very narrow specialists at the forefront of public policy. Public policy is multi-factored, humans are unpredictable monkeys and governments are not generally good at translating good intentions into good outcomes.
In other words, while I’m concerned that science is often wrong when it comes to big predictions, I’m more concerned with politicians co-opting whatever sort of science furthers their goals, whether it is good science, bad science or even pseudoscientific nonsense.
Thanks for clarifying. That I totally agree with. Public policy is an amalgamation of different goals and tribes all fighting for prominence, and administered by people who aren’t particularly strong on any aspect of the fight.
I am 100% onboard with being troubled about politicians co-opting science to further their self-ambitions.
Are you serious with this shit? We created a vaccine in record time. A medical marvel and you could argue one of the most impressive achievements in the history of the world.
Pulling things out of your ass sure is fun huh? Doctors today don’t learn anything but stuff about race. Fuck outta here with this shit. Damn you people read your far right drivel and take it to ridiculous conclusions.
I’m guessing when you get sick you’ll go to a doctor? If not your chances of living drastically drop off.
Lets not pretend that creating vaccines is a difficult task. The difficult task is testing and regulations. There is a reason there are at least 5-6 working vaccines. The first one were in China and Russia, because of world politics and skipping regulations. Then thanks to Trump the western world got their vaccines approved faster than usual. So shall we start thinking before spreading bullcrap? And while having vaccines our doctors still recommend ancient techniques such as social distancing and masking. So please cut this pointless argument.
I work near a medical unevrsity and used to date few girls studying medicine. I have my doubts they are going to be experts. I wont recommend anyone to get them for doctors lol. I was dating the top obstetrician in the region. Oh boy she was dumb as fuck. I would not hire her for a waitress. These girls will be doctors, because there is nobody willing to spend 7-8 years styding and passing exams while working for less than a waitress can make.
Yeah I got a great advice from my doctor, when I was with COVID. Get zinc supplements. I was already supplementing with tons of shit. So much for studying for 7-8 years. Real expert advice.
I can’t take you serious with this. The safety and efficacy so far are modern miracles in this time span.
The cool thing about the internet is you can create whatever you want isn’t it?
Not sure where you’re from but it seems like English is not your first language. Your posts are pretty funny I’ll give you that. This ain’t as fun as me pointing out Joe Rogan wasn’t the first to mention Ivermectin. See that took me a minute to debunk your stuff with actual evidence. When you switch to anecdotal stuff I can’t do that.
But like I said the cool thing about the internet is you can make up whatever you want.
I dont think there are Europeans with English as a first language, beside that little island in north west of Europe.
Curiously, what is your academic background and/or professional field (and accomplishments in said field) that qualify you to be such an expert on medicine and climate science?
Reason i ask is that you may have an impressive science background. Or, its just a part time hobby. In which case the implication would be that you have a better grasp of the subjects than very intelligent folks who have spent exponentially more time studying those subjects… which means you must be genius level.
Bachelours in hospitality management in a 3rd rates university. I am in the trade fair business. Unfortunately I can not share exactly what I do, because the entry level for the business is very low and the profits are very high. But since I am in trade fairs, I am able to meet experts in different fields all over Europe. I provide a very simple service and often get to know in details about my clients and they are working on. 50 % of my clients are pharmaceutical companies and my profits come mainly from CPHI Worldwide which is the biggest pharmaceutical trade fair in the world.
Wow, so from short, topical interactions with smart people you have become a full fledged expert in medicine and climate science. You must truly be a brilliant intellect. What a waste stuck in your field instead of helping humanity solve its biggest problems.
I ve never said that. I am saying experts are not really experts as we know them. These are just people working on the field and making their living or their profits. So questioning their “expertise” and making global decisions based on that is very reasonable. In general I am dumb and stubborrn as fuck as well.
Who designed your car? A baker?
Agreed.
The people you meet at trade fairs are likely on the business, sales, and marketing side of the company instead of the research side. Most researchers in pharma companies do not get told to go to trade fairs.
I fully agree with what you said. My response was sarcasm.
I figured, as I love sarcasm myself
There needs to be a sarcasm font or color, so we could hear the inflection as we read the comment.
I realize this is not an original idea, but damn - would l love to monetize it.
You are right, I was mostly referring to the science and predictions as reported by main stream media. I agree with you for the most part with the caveat that most main stream media should count as sensationalist websites. There were media predicting certain areas of the world to have already been underwater by now.
None of this for the record contradicts Jordan Peterson. Jordan Peterson agreed that global warming is a crisis. the discussion was on global policy and human nature in which she’s dead nuts accurate. Even people with anxiety over the topic aren’t riding their bikes and turning off their AC. you’re never going to get Global cooperation with a bogeyman in the distant future and people skeptical because of sensationalized media along with all the errors science is want to make in it’s messy process. It’s a recipe for division not cooperation.
Still…the Dutch and people in the Nordic countries speak a pretty good english, generally. The fact that they don’t dub movies might be one factor.
Germans, despite the accent, also speak English fairly good.
You keep saying you’re European. Europe isn’t a country. What is your nationality?
