Cigars

This thread is killing me! I am sitting in my office, it’s 27 degrees out–enjoying the DOMS from deadlifting and dreaming of a nice espresso and Cuban Patagas in some tropical sun–it’s been too long…
Life is too short to just dream. Never had any Cuban but my Nicaraguans sure are nice. I like mine with some Scotch. Your deadlift will go up from the the extra relaxation. Your DOMS will fade away. Your welcome.

Smoked my first cain last night and was pleasantly surprised. I believe it was the Daytona version size 6x46. Good consistent flavors and about perfect burn. Still got a cain F in the humi (got them both in an oliva sampler) apparrently its supposed to be a bit stronger than the daytona. Looking forward to trying it out as well as the brickhouse I’ve had sitting around. Has anyone here tried the Centurion? Just picked up one in belicoso they had on special at my B&M. I think its a Don Pepin smoke.
Most Pepin smokes are really good, Centurion is about the average of the entire Pepin line up, IMO. But if this intrigues you at all, I really recommend checking out all of his other stuff. It’s a full bodied smoke, so be ready!
Love most of the Pepin sticks I’ve had so far actually just snagged a box of the blue in demitasse (my favorite small cigar so far) off of famous smokes auction site for around 70 bucks (did a little dance just like that <). Have yet to try the My Father but I’ve got a few chilling in my humi I’m looking forward to. So far I think most of my faviorite cigars have come from Pepin, Drew Estate, or Oliva. Had my first CLE (the cuarenta) the other day and I dug it quite a bit. Also just picked up some CyB lonsdales I have yet to get in to. Anybody have any experience with them? Seems like they haven’t been around all that long.

We seem to have very similar taste in cigars. DPG blue labels are one of my go to smokes.

Haven’t tried the CLE, but you should like the CyB. I’ve only had 1 and it was a year or two ago when they first came out but I remember digging it.

Looking to upgrade to a bigger humidor eventually. Have this cabellas dry ammo can. It is supposed to be air/water tight and does have a rubberized seal liner around the lid. Wondered if it was possible. Could it be done without Spanish cedar? Maybe just a couple cigar boxes inside? I’m positive it could hold a lot more cigars than my 50 ct. (Which really means 35 maybe 40.)I actually like the way the ammo box looks just don’t know if it would do the job.

Anything air tight will do fine. For storage on the cheap when building a big collection, a lot of people put together coolidors, just a coleman or igloo style cooler with a bunch of boxes of cigars and enough humidification devices in there to keep things stable.

Thought ya’ll might get a kick out of this:

Haha yeah I have a couple of these laying around and was thinking about doing this with them. At the rate I’m going I think I might need something a little more like these though.

The beginning of the end of the Cuban embargo. The article states that US travelers will be able to import 100.00 USD worth of alcohol and tobacco including cigars. Does Import also imply that we could order them online? If so hopefully we could put up some legit websites here without worry. I’ve never had a Cuban cigar and I would love to try one.

I have had a few well aged Cubans. They are wonderful, not necessarily stronger than any other cigar. Lanky mentioned the My Father line, I think that is probably a good example of flavor instead of strength. The My Father #4 lancero has the same flavor profile as a standard Cuban, in fact most of the Pepin lines are really good quality cigars. Great, drooling on myself again.

I don’t think there is any ordering online from Cuba. What this ultimately means is that when we (the USA) can finally import cigars from Cuba, they’ll be taxed to death.

Where are all the cigar smokers? On the patio enjoying an oliva V and some Johnny Walker Black. I only smoke about once a month or so and this Oliva V is strong!

I haven’t touched a cigar since I moved. The new apartment has a property-wide no-smoking policy, including balconies and patios. As do (of course?) city parks and such.

Really haven’t found a place to enjoy a cigar, as weird as that sounds.

Oliva V is a great cigar! I just gave away a few mixed in with some cheap-o’s to the local auto techs that helped me out with a car problem without charging.

I have a Herrera Esteli Lonsdale in the cedar box right now waiting for me, a sunny afternoon and some Patron Anejo.

Gentlemen - a 48 hour sale has popped up, some great deals to be had.

Lanky or anyone, what would be a good sampler as a gift for someone who just got into cigars?
