Wow, an honor to be quoted by you. Thanks.
But to the topic, I imagine your daily commute does as much atmospheric damage as my lighting up 2 or 3 times a month. Simply by living our lives, we have a negative effect on others. I imagine decisions we make every day negatively effect people we’ve never met, without us even knowing.
While I agree that a household with children should be smokefree, and that people should have the option whether or not to be around smoke, read non-smoking sections or smoke-free environments, I also believe someone should still have the option to smoke in an environment which will be conducive to a relatively small negative effect on others.
If both sides have a mutual respect for each other’s opinions, this should be a non-issue. If you smoke, just be courteous. If you don’t, just do the same.
Yeah I dont give a flying fuck whther you smoke or not, do what you want, its your life. But when you blow that shit in my direction it does become a problem.

I smoked for 16 years. I trained my ass off for 12 of them. I made great gains. I was fine. I sprinted, I lifted hard everything. When I quit, I did improve. My endurance didn’t improve, but my strength went up pretty consistently.
On another note, you shouldn’t be ashamed to smoke. It’s your choice, your life, and your probelm. If you enjoy it who gives a flying fuck what people think. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.[/quote]
Really gets my goat that smoking is legal, and prohormones are not?
Heck screw that, what about full steroids.
Ban smoking and make steroids compulsory for all people and the medical condition of the nation would vastly improve.
Note that I am not particularly pro-steroids just very, very anti-smoking. And even more, I am anti-stupidity/hypocrisy.
Smoking affecting your gains - I think it will make a big negative difference, too subtle and cumulative for you to notice - continue to smoke and you just won’t realise what you have missed.

On a side note, if anyone is still viewing this thread, I watched “Thank You For Smoking” last night. This is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time.

Cigarette addiction is worse than cocaine, heroin etc…
BULLSHIT, worse than a heroin addiction!? are you fucking kidding me, how many people you know smoke? how many do you know who have quit? ill bet like most people you know alot or a few, ive known several people that after just one touch of heroin never ever looked back, no matter how hard they tried they would end up out of their way to do ANYTHING to get more heroin, there whole lives gone to shit in the space of a year leaving them in the gutter or dead, and you compare that to having cigarettes easily accessable?
thats some pretty weak, pathetic bullshit, you ever risk prison for a cigrette? or getting an std for cigarettes? hurting someone? even the chance of dying each time you have a cigarette? yeah cigarettes are way worse than heroin

See, it’s a funny thing. I can’t realy explain it but here’s my take. I have quit heroine and crack, but I’ll be damned if I can drop the cigarettes. Availability is one major factor. Ever try to bum a rock or a bag of H off of your buddy? Not gonna happen.
Try bumming a cigarette though. Not nearly as hard.
On point though- You are correct about the danger of a heavy narcotics habit, but I have found it much more difficult to quit smoking due to a number of factors.
To the origional poster- Good luck. I had a gd deal of success using accupuncture for the accute detox(first 3 days) but breaking the associated habits- morning coffee, starting the car, etc., was the real bitch.
One thing that might help you to stop smoking is to listen to my uncle hawk crud out of his lungs for ten minutes. That would make a great stop-smoking ad, a black screen and the sound of my uncle coughing, clearing his throat, and spitting, for ten minutes.

I agree. Its the same reason I disagree with the people that sue the tobacco companies.
I’m a smoker. I’m an asshole for it. It’s not the company’s fault that I’m an asshole.
When it comes down to it, we all die. I like to think I’m just picking my cancer
