What do you all think he could do on a 1 rep max squat without the suit gear and wraps and such? Maybe give him a belt and that’s it.

I would rather watch someone power lift without all the extra stuff, I think the end products would be even more impressive because to get to the super high weight you have cannot rely on something like a suit or knee wraps for that extra help. Let people use a belt and chalk if they want but that’s it, you can only wear boxers and gym shorts and a shirt.[/quote]

This isn’t the thread for you.

What you would rather watch isn’t really relevant since the people supporting these meets and paying for them to happen are the ones lifting in them.

Over 9000. That canvas suit actually slows down the ascent and makes the lift harder. Chuck does this to level the playing field a bit so that the mere mortals he competes against have at least a slim chance of out lifting him.

Chuck V doesn’t do pushups… he pushes the Earth down.

Shut the fuck up.

Sounds like the making of a new fed.

Couple questions, I don’t know anybody who squats or pulls in boxers because the tend to rip and ride up your ass. Are boxer briefs going to be OK? I like to wear the stretchy ones. They feel real nice. Afterall, you want to be sure to accomodate the lifter.

Also, I am concerned that people will just wear really baggy shorts and extra long t-shirts and that it will be hard to guage depth, see if their ass stays on the bench, or if they lock out their pulls.

Therefore, would you consider requiring people to tuck their t-shirts into their shorts and only allow 70’s style gym shorts?

I think that will level the playing field quite a bit and would like to encourage you to share your opinions more frequently on threads like this.

Bottom line, I am real enthusiastic about your thoughts on the topic.

Thanks for posting!

I’m afraid people might get too much carryover from gym shorts. It would be better to require that all lifters tuck their sleeveless tees into their Zubaz.

http://shop.zubaz.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=29

We may also need some rules requiring lifters to wear tasteful headbands. To make judging easier.

LOL this thread was a discussion on “What song is that playing in the background?”

If you don’t know what Disturbed - Stupify is then you obviously don’t belong on a weight lifting website, period.

See wow it’s real hard to make fun of people.

Folks I just want to see people squatting without the knees wrapped to hell and without some superspandex suit.

What’s so difficult about that? Didn’t you all take weights class in high school? Did you wear spandex for maxout weeks then? Oh you didn’t take weights in high school? Well what were you doing then, taking drama class as your elective?

Do you all wear knee wraps when you squat?

Do you all even squat?

Yea I get knee pains when I squat sometimes, but you know what I do? I fucking stretch them and keep going.

This website is full of idiots!

I don’t like to silly Nu Metal at my gym, I prefer actual heavy metal

I did take drama class as my elective, and I also lifted weights too for Soccer, and Lacrosse, and Cross Country.

I’m not strong enough for knee wraps, they throw me off when I squat, with or without gear.

Yes, I am a natural squatter, so I’d say squatting 525lbs at 181 (RAWDAWG) is pretty decent. Then again I rather Squat 605lbs in briefs.

If you get knee pains while squatting, you’re doing it wrong.

I agree, this website is full of idiots.

Whatever happenned to Chuck I, II, III & IV?

(sorry couldn’t resist!) Depth was deeper than I expected, pretty near parallel- difficult to tell from the camera angle.

And somebody like chuck squatting in a suit effects you seeing RAW!!! squatting how? The gear is a different game. What you are doing is like going to a football game and complaining about too much equipment and not enough natural squatting. It makes no sense. It’s a different class, different game. There is plenty of raw lifting out there (entire federations devoted to it even). Someone suiting up for a squat doesn’t affect you or raw lifting.

Would you go to a weightlifting meet and complain about the lifters doing “improper” front and overhead squats rather than real raw back squats. No, because it’s a different fucking sport with different fucking rules and you’d look like a moron.

Do realize that what you are commenting on is EQUIPPED powerlifting right? Saying equipped powerlifting would be better if it didn’t have equipment is retarded. Oh, and golf would be better if it were hockey, but guess what, I don’t seek out golf forums and tell the golfers their sport would be better if they put it on ice.

(this is coming from a raw lifter that doesn’t care for equipment by the way)
