Sorry I’m late - traffic was a nightmare.

Now where were we? Oh - that’s right.

I am a christian. I am not religious per se, as I think all of the modern religions are the Laodicean Church talked about in Revelation.

I believe in the Triune God. I believe that Jesus was the only sinless son of God and that he was crucified, buried and rose again on the third day.

I believe it is God, not man, who speaks to the hearts of those who wish to listen, and the notion of man forcing one to a conversion should be punishable by death.

I believe God wants a relationship with us. I don’t think He is nearly into fire and brimstone as certain denominations wished he was.

The fearful and the weak will make fun of that ad nauseum. I have made it a habit in my life not to listen to weak or fearful people. They are weak and fearful for a reason.

There are, however, several members like Makkum who are athiests, or agnostics who are respectful of those who are believers.

You might have noticed the weak and the fearful salivating to get a chance to make fun of Christianity, or the idiots who follow it. That’s fine by me. Let them rant. I choose not to cast pearls before swine, so I rarely engage them when they grab their torches and form a mob.

And that is way out of character for me.

That is a very good post RJ, might be the singel best post I have ever read. I would very much like to shake your hand right now. I dont think anyone could have said it better.[/quote]

I second. I love Jesus for he loves me. He took on so much more than any being should for a race that spits in his face continually. When you say it doesn’t make sence to you, I just can not comprehend how it couldnt. Unless you believe in a ridiculus idea that we evolved from apes or dolphins or whatever, there has to be a greater being holding the strings.

Who made all this? two stars making a big bang theory? Well ask yourself this, who made the two stars to collide into each other? It doesnt make sence not to believe.

LMAO! HAHAHAHA. Yes, evolution is ridiculous and Santa is real too.

You’re either very ignorant or just intellectually challenged if you can’t tell the difference between a fictional piece of writing and fact.

may i speak for the athiests? Evolution & athiesim has ab-so-lute-ly nothing to do with each other. Sure, there are evolutionists who are athiests, but so what, I know a few christians who suspect that since we as humans are so good at adapting & evolving into our surroundings, that’s what happend at the start.

i’m sorry, i really don’t get that picture…i’m having a blonde nite…WTF ? lol

I will pray for all you…

I hope it’s to the right god, for your sake.

I’ll second that. What if the muslims are right & you prayed to the Christian god? I’m pretty sure the Christian God wouldn’t be too happy about that. What if you were muslim & you prayed for us, when the real God is the hindu God? Then you’ve totally messed up!

Altho I think Pascal’s wager is massively flawed, I do think it does carry some merit

Yeah, I’m sure this thread is weaving itself exactly how jusrockinout hoped it would.

/sarcasm

Hey, if religion enables people to make better lives for themselves and those around them, I’m all for it. Yeah there’s some people that take it to the extreme, but you get that in any group.

Jesus is my homeboy.

Fuck no.

If you’re going to believe, do it for yourself and not “just in case”. It’s a cowardly thing to do as far as I’m concerned.

when i read the op i just had to start laughing, but then i realized that this isn’t a joke :frowning:

I believe that the vast majority of religious people were taught to believe in their culture’s god of choice before they were old enough and smart enough to decide for themselves. Fear has a lot to do with it, also (burn in hell, etc).

It was intended as a straighforward compliment - but feel free to cut the sentimental crap, and to tell me to fcuk off.

Well said RJ.

I’m Catholic, but I don’t see what that has to do with my love of exercise. I love sex too, but it’s not like I’m praying when I do either.

LMAO. Please. I have no objection to religion, but if you’re going to question or ridicule scientific theories, AT LEAST understand them for fucks sake. Two stars made the big bang? We evolved from apes or dolphins, or whatever? Who the fuck taught you about the big bang or evolution? Some drugged out homeless bum in a back alley?

See, I have no problem with the idea of a God or higher being, but the absurdity of religion is almost laughable at times (not all religions are laughable), but to think that we could even come close to comprehending all this through religion is crazy to me.

but, you just gotta have faith right

ps- I’ll believe that we came from dolphins before I believe some guy made a huge ass boat to hold 2 of every animal in the world
